Played greatsword in every single title since Freedom and just decided to use longsword for some reason?.. It's quite the learning curve, that's for sure!

Not trynna be a hater but you didnt explain a successful foresight couter can be followed up with a round slash and it will help you fill the spirit gage a lot faster and a successful spirit slash with also help you build it up. as well as helmspliter which is long sword most damaging move
I mained this weapon in MHW (my first MH game) and became quite proficient in it.
After beating that game, I never played it again. Now I totally forgot how to use this weapon 😱
I'm surprised that Iai Spirit Slash can increase your gauge level now. That would've been nice in World for a Quick Sheath build.
I feel like I'm struggling to understand long sword in rise. I main it in world and have put in 767 hours on it. Also my claim to fame is I'm the only one I know in my friends group to kill raging brach with no deaths at that. I really want to get good with ls in rise
There is so much to learn about the weapons in this, its daunting but also awesome
3:21 it doesn't just deal additional hits, it also increases your spirit color level (which is shown in the video but not mentioned)

@@Thiccness_Is_Delicious It's pretty easy, actually : do your Wirebug art (ZR+x) and then, once in the air, press ZR. That's it. You need to have a spirit gage charge for it, though.

Ok I see, the special sheath attack would only deal additional damage if we counter the monsters attack on time. I've been wondering why the attack deals damage once while I see on youtube the slash is literally raining down

Did they remove the move set for this weapon from MH World? I remember there being a huge rising slash where you go high in the air and slash straight downward with a powerful strike. It was good for shopping tails off
It’s still in the game.
They moved it to a wirebug attack. ZL + A > ZR is the combo. ZL+A is soaring kick then ZR in the air in the helmsplitter.
I don't know if this is still an issue, but the biggest downside to Longswords is that you can often hit your teammates and interrupt their combos. if they changed this at all in Rise, please tell me.

i was playing longsword and i swear i pressed the correct input to make a jumping downslash like in MHW but it didn't work. i watch this video to find out how to do it in rise. but i guess they remove it in rise. i mean yeah there are wirebug dive which is similar but the damage isn't the same.
Use the firebug jumping move, zr+x, and hit zr on the way down to do it. You just need some of your spirit gauge though.

ZL + X, then ZR to slash.

it cost 1 spirit gauge, so be sure your spirit gauge is at least white!
But if you pick ZL + X, then X again (instead ZR), it won't cost spirit gauge.

draw weapon > zl + x > (if the kick connects) zr
uses a spirit gauge. maximize its damage by getting the gauge red

The stance isn't new... It was introduced in iceborne.
I found out that using sakura slash also boost ur atk to yellow and red gauge too...

Why wouldn’t you go over the wirebug attacks? It’s the most important part of Longsword and the main damage dealer of Longsword. It’s key information to be left out.
