Taylor I am always amazed at you knowledge and ability to fix and install almost anything. You are a poster girl for all young women, showing if you want something fixed just try. For most of my marriage 52 years, I fixed and repaired a lot of things. My husband worked around the world and things seemed to go wrong when he wasn’t at home. Technology makes it easier, I still laugh at the time I had to call my husband in China to get help opening the smoke alarm at 3:00 AM. I am happy that you now have a sailing partner, and someone that cares for you.

Having watched you over the last 4 years, you have embraced the sailing life and have learned one of the most important first steps in owning a boat. Complete knowledge of all things on your boat and what to do and how to fixit yourself. Learning on the hard prepares you for what you need to have, what you need to do to fix it at sea, and the demeanor to remain calm in iffy situations at sea because of first learning on the hard and calmer seas. Keep on the path you have chosen, a good path, and one that will continue to your success. This old man wishes you well.

Got to meet Taylor when she bought the boat in New Rochelle, and I will say getting those panels bolted in from that bosun's chair was pretty insane; the amount of contorting needed and lack of leverage is frustrating and to hold that drill in place your arms turn to jello; super impressive and as a Victron Dealer would be happy to hire her to do installations if this UA-cam thing doesn't pan out! Well done T!

Damn that was a good video and then it all of a sudden finished. I love Victron, solar panels, and inverters. I have 2 inverters for my setup. One is 500 watt for computers fans, etc. And the 1500 watt inverter for blenders, blow dryers, power tools, big stuff. Both are pure sine wave inverters. I learned the bigger inverters draw more current during idle times.

This episode is wild for me....We spent the month of July at that marina after moving the boat up from Miami, and ended up condo shopping there. We also took delivery of our new Highfield dinghy from the same place, Nautical Ventures, AND launched it from the same place you did. LOL We went with a 20hp Tohatsu on our 310. Overkill, but it weighs the same as the 15. A friend tells me his planes off with 2ppl with a 9.9. Since this is our SUV and runabout, I wanted the power.

Taylor, there is a very useful tool from Bosch called the "Go". It's basically a cordless electric screwdriver that is ideal when a drill is overkill or too awkward / heavy. It's also ideal in situations where you're fixing / unfixing screws on your own and need to use the other hand to hold / balance. You can preset the rotation and just press in - its a real handy tool

try making a battery housing unit that is mountable. then anchor your batteries within the unit and then they will be safe from water, just maintain a good maintenance check up on it weekly and you should be fine. its actually a clever way of storing batteries in the bulge in the center, they will be least affected by inertia and they will add ballast to the boat. But there are better easier ways to insulate and protect a system like that from the elements. wow, i wish i could help you fix that. but wow well done on that system. I'm going into sailing soon and i appreciate you making this content. wow!

You might want to get some cargo straps to secure the Dinghy while in Big Wind Weather, don't trust the Dinghy straps it came with. In such weather, that dinghy will be jinking around a lot. What make is the line going through the sheave blocks? Salt and UV Rays will weaken a cheap line, so get the good stuff.

    Hi Taylor
Tell me you like working on your own boat instead of having Mr. Fix-it Brian trouble shoot some improbable electrical problem on Delos! LOL
For those of us who haven't already encountered every possible problem, asking the "what if question" is the next best possible approach.
What if you decide you "have" to go to the Caribbean on the first of November after a summer of sailing in New England? You will cross the Gulf Stream and it is not unlikely that you will be dropped off a wave onto your beam ends at some point. Will your batteries stay in place? Most battery manufacturers supply undersized little straps with plastic buckles, and it looks like yours is no different.
What if you are swept by a big wave? Your mounting of your solar panels is very nicely done, but the mounting base on a standard davit has a very short base providing a lot of leverage for the wave to rip them off.
Very nice new dingy, and the aluminum hull will stand up to dragging it over rocky beaches better than fiberglass. But, the basic rule is that dingys come aboard and are lashed down keel up on deck the minute you leave sight of land. Your boat is very much on the small side for a center cockpit design. Is there room to properly stow the kind of dingy you've chosen?

It's good to see the Arch correctly installed, was looking a little wonky in the early video. What does the new Dingy weigh? Anyway things a progressing nicely for the Sea Gypsy, and it's good to see you are having fun in Key West again. When are you going to sail again on Sea Gypsy? The voice-over is fine, gives you time to focus on the new Electrics being installed. Work on your pull-ups and you will be fine.
