Thanks so much for this video. I've been completely lost, going in circles for the last two or three weeks, I had it of course, power going into a normal switch, then branches and turrets. All of the excess power was being wasted and I was having to put LOADS of extra power sources down, or logging in to rest the circuit. This has helped so much
This would as well come handy if you're trying to build a farm without a roof, so your plants get sunlight during the day and at night you switch on lights hanging from door frames
This is how we used to do it before the battery change but now that you can charge and discharge a battery at the same time I feel is no longer as useful as it ads power consumption. I can only imagine it being useful now maybe in a circuit with Tesla coil traps that would benefit from any extra power you might have and still kind of work on battery power but to be onest since Tesla coils are more efficient as singe use traps then as base defenders I prefer to power them by generator.
@@xxIntrep1dxx I mainly play PvE so I generaly use electricity for night lights, automatic boat and hely garage, toys and gadgets, I don't assume I know all the needs of everyone playing but I agree, this particular circuit is not more efficient and if the purpose is to survive the night, small batery beeing the only battery that can be drained in a standard night, this circuit will reduce efficiency.
@@alexsavutube can you explain how to have a charging battery circuit that isnt a waste? or are you saying a charging circuit isnt needed at all? How do i get lights in a base using solar at night? Do i just go solar into battery, battery into lights? The way i see it is this is for raiding. If a raider comes and breaks your outside solar panels, windturbines, your battery will still power your turrets. How else do you get this result of having "24/7" turrets up?
Im with u anicod. Dont listen to the haters. I use a very similar set up that does the same as urs. I usually have 4 or 6 batterys that are 100% charged and ready to go if my turbines get destroyed.
So thx to that with solar panel when sun rised, battery will still charge and other electric stuff will work, but with turbine, it makes things not going on waste, and battery will charge anyway. AWESOME
Another great guide! believe it or not, your humor really helps, all the other guides feel like a robot is explaining everything, and it's difficult to pay attention.
With the first blocker, set the left setting to 9, and leave the rest alone. This will power everything, and keep the battery charged over night, allowing for the battery to get fully charged in the morning hours. This is perfect for any polar forward operating bases 1x1s set up to collect stone and sulfur nodes in the polar lands which you will be staying the night in before shuffling off to your main base with the appropriate load out of GP for any booms for raids. If you need a light in the base, use a pressure pad to power the industrial light until you can set up your fire pit to cook food while waiting the night to heal from possible polar bear snack attacks.
What you ideally want to do is set this value to the total power demand of your powered components, keeping in mind that the demand should not exceed 50% of the maximum output of your battery if you want the system to last all night without going down and to maintain your component power for the longest possible period. For most people, you’ll want it to last at least 8 hours without any input power from generation sources. So the total demand for a large battery should be no more than 50. This basically gives you enough to run 3-4 auto turrets constantly, and for 8+ hours if your solar panels or wind turbine is destroyed.
If you are only powering lights that you need at night, you could make a simple circuit that turns the power on during the night only. I don't really understand why people call this an "infinite power" circuit... how long you can power your stuff still very much depends on your power output (to charge battery fast enough during day), and the size of your battery, and how many devices you are powering. Infinite would suggest you can power as many things as you like with no worries.
back in the day, the batteries couldn't charge and output power at the same time so you needed a circuit like this to make it work.... this video is kind of redundant now since the recent updates :-(
That’s the whole point of having a battery. It is your source of power when you can’t maintain the input to your electrical needs from the Solar/Turbine/generator. It’s The ONLY reason you even need a battery in the system. We may find a way one day to harness infinite power. But till then rust decided to opt out of the Alien Tech on this front.
@@dapper2885 What I meant by this was simply that if the first branch is still receiving power, but it doesn’t meet the minimum requirement to power the full circuit, it should still charge the battery with that power.
@@miekolock4060 What I meant by this was simply that if the first branch is still receiving power, but it doesn’t meet the minimum requirement to power the full circuit, it should still charge the battery with that power.
Why do you need a blocker when the OR gate will already choose the input with the higher input? makes sense when the battery delivers more power than the solar panel but not with the small one right?
I had the same thought: I’m not on to test it rn, but I believe since the larger batteries can output 100 units, the circuit would always use the battery, just as if you used the battery as a passthrough (currently I do this, just have 6 large batteries being charged, and at the same time running my defenses. A ton of wasted power, but it’ll work til I figure this vid out🤷🏻♂️)
i fail to see the reason for the circuit.. if you wire directly to the battery it will charge the battery with the overage from the power source and continue to power through the night just as it would with the or switch.
Could you tell me what is the best height for the wind turbine? I know higher is better but how better? Like at what point is it not needed. Yes I know that a wind turbine can be placed on the floor yet it doesn’t get much power, what I want to know is what is the best height for it to get the most out of the wind turbine?
I think 4-5 floors is enough if there are no cliffs around. I placed turbines 20+ floors high and they still output 100-140. Fun fact if you build in the ocean and place a turbine just above the water at the 16th floor it will produce like is 16 floors high.
At some point it's can also work against you, cable lenght is one limit, can be worked around, placing root combiners higher but I prefer to keep them as deep and secure inside base as possible, easily destroyed. 2nd if u wanna come back after raided rebuild and you use anti grief mesures (external TCs taking over build prvilage if main destroyed) 6 fundations above main TC is maximum height to not be griefed by raiders placing own TC on top.
Excedllent video. What if your power source (i.e. solar panel) is LESS than the total out? say 3 solar 60 power into a large battery that is 100 out. just make the branch number 54 (less than 60)?
use a root combiner before input feed then connect output to splitter, wire 1 to your curcit and the other to the root connector, the 50 power will go back in.
it's just a basic charging circuit, during the day (if solar) or all the time (if other) you power the battery through a small portion of the energy you're creating, the rest goes into the branches and the or switch, and then into whatever you're powering(turrets, lights). When your main source of power is destroyed or runs out(if solar, no more sunlight) then it automatically switches over to the battery that you've been charging. The original idea used a splitter instead of a second branch, and can be found on google searching "Chargeable battery circuit"
Can you make a circuit that turns blue flashing lights on at night automatically whilst turning them off in the day... For night time helipad landings?
Can't see a point to use it... Battery is the limit anyway. Like with the turbine and large battery, you cant use 140 power thats coming from the turbine, that 40 is over the limit of the battery. If it switches to the battery you can only use 100 or if the turbine doesnt give 140 anymore. Doing this doesnt give you anything, it just makes it more complicated than it is. The more i try to figure out the need for this circuit, more useless it gets, it just doesnt make any sense
Agreed, the only thing you are doing with this is adding more load to the battery at night, thus giving you less available charge. I think it used to work different with the charging and using at the same time, but this is a new video and it doesn't really make sense to me.
@@OsrsNooby When they get to the battery, they have already destroyed the turrets, like why would you place batteries before the turrets :'D You probably have a switch for the turrets outside of your base near main door ?

Face the panels towards the middle of the map, depending on the side you are on. Sounds odd, but that gets you the most power for the whole day. North and South are the best ideas. You could put some East and West, but that's not as effective.
facepunch messes with the sun all the time and we don't find out. This wipe is North, it also was south for a wipe and for some time you needed to face them to the center line of the map. Just place it North before noon and see if you get 20, if not place it south. East West placements are less efective.
Seems less efficient than just running power straight to the battery. You are losing 20% at the battery either way but with all those other components you are losing 3-4 power +20% of what remnant goes into the battery for the same outputs at both day and night.
