Actually, Anakin leaving and Obi-Wan following would be an interesting what if and probably would be for the best. By removing Sidious Anakin will be forced to rely on Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan would be forced to move his lessons beyond theory and Anakin will better understand them. The deleted scenes where Qui-Gon and Anakin are leaving his mother show Qui-Gon's ability to teach the lessons in a manner that touches on the real world and not theory. This what what Anakin needed since he despite his youth he had already seen some of the worst that life had to offer.
I like this idea. The only bump in the road I see is that Anakin already had the attention of Darth Sidious, and I ponder how leaving the order would make manipulating Ani better/worse for Palpatine. I can imagine amazing stories of Ob-Wan playing a ronin guardian jedi, leaving the path to protect the chosen one. How would he succeed? How would he fail? Awesome speculation, thanks!!
@@HarkMammal I think it would depend on where Obi-Wan moved Anakin. Sidious would want to keep tabs but in both Canon and Legends Obi-Wan never trusted Sidious and especially in Legends was fairly protective of Anakin. It would be interesting since Anakin was so young he wouldn't see issues with the attention but Obi-Wan would. The stories would be so fascinating.
It's because Yoda as the Grand Master Jedi Should Have Listened to Him with the Ears of a Padawan Learner. The Jedi Order Needed to be Restructured. He Was the Chosen One because He Would Have Freed Slaves, Get Married & Have Kids, So On and So Force. That Was His Life Purpose, His Destiny. And Instead of Allowing Him to Fulfill the Prophecy as the Chosen One, They Tried to Fit Him into Their Ideas of What Being a Jedi Is.
Anakin was what the Jedi needed to learn and grow. They went from an open order, to under Yoda closed and dogmatic, unwilling to accept feedback, to under Luke, open again. Had they listened to Anakin, they'd have sought a better understanding of slaves and the hardships of so many in the outer rim. Obi-Wan was also the inappropriate teacher for Anakin.
What would the Jedi normally do with someone that was force sensitive, but too old to begin the training? As evidenced by Anakin, even without training, he already had a great advantage over normal people. I'd think that something would have to be done with force sensitives, or they would likely abuse such power. Even Anakin's abilities were already being abused for slavery and gambling.
They would do nothing and basically look the other way. Which is unfortunate, since at least some of those people could have helped others. In one of the CW novelizations Obi-Wan find a 10ish year old girl who could be a strong healer. But they can't train her because of age, even if training her meant helping others.
I’m not sure if it’s still canon but there was also a branch of the Jedi called the service corps where younglings and padawans that washed out could serve if they chose to stay with the order. I wonder if that was an option for force sensitives deemed too old for training like Anakin?
@@HarkMammal It wasn't an option, but I have always thought that it should be. If they are willing to take an infant and train it and then refuse to allow it to be a Jedi for 'reasons' then why not train an older child to be of service in the same manner. They don't need to learn how to use a lightsaber or how to do really high end things. But they can still have a solid life of service doing the service corp.
I believe Palps would have 100% found a way to use her against him beyond what he already had in the films. Though part of me hopes she could have been a guiding light to keep Anakin on the straight and narrow. Would be a great "what if" story!
I think that with both Qui-Gon and Shmi they were on 'borrowed time' since Sidious would need them removed to better groom Anakin. Obi-Wan didn't become an issue till about AOTC when Sidious realized that despite Anakin complaining about Obi-Wan Anakin would die for Obi-Wan. Then he spent part of the CW (both in Legends and Canon) trying to find ways till kill Obi-Wan. But he just kept surviving.
I think Shmi would help Anakin. Even Shmi taught Anakin to not look at the past and not to be attached to it. That's why when we see Shmi sending Anakin on his way, we see her telling Anakin to not to look back.
I have a question are you into Hot Toys? I noticed you use a lot of promo pics from them. I love your videos especially aniken/vader. Please keep them coming 👍
I had been informed that Anakin attempted to cede the Jedi Order, but by listening Retney's insight, I now understand WHY!
