I love how your videos are so informative, I always look forward to each one that you release. I always have a thought of “this vs that” and by some weird coincidence you drop that video. My dad got me into photography at a young age and I always had questions. Unfortunately he is no longer with us for me to ask him, which is why I look forward to your videos. I am trying to become a “UA-camr” but mainly take videos/pictures of my family. Anyway, just trying to say you have great videos that provide great advice.
I don't shoot video, but I've been using cine lenses for stills for about 4 years. I have the Samyang/Rokinon lenses, but the inexpensive line, not the Xeen. I've found that I prefer the generous focusing range vs the still photography counterparts. Because I shoot primarily nighttime images, I use full manual mode most the time anyway. A slight bump or jostled on my regular lenses can take me out of focus, but I don't have that issue as much with the cine lenses. For those curious how T-stop compares to F-stop, in case no one else commented, the T-stop is the F-stop ratio divided by the square root of the light transmittance (expressed as a decimal - 90% transmittance is 0.9). The light transmittance is almost always going to be less than 100%, so the T-stop value will almost always be slightly higher than the F-stop. The T-stop will never be a smaller value than the F-stop, but in very rare occasions might be an equal value if the light transmittance is 100%.
Would PB skittles still be rainbow colored or more like Reese’s with like orange yellow brown? Those come lenses are dope, like the drop ins, like the look and the gears looked almost “tucked in” so if you had to go wild and shoot handheld they aren’t chewing up your hands. Looked like the gears were in the same position on the lenses too. Great video!
That's toooough! 50mm is my all time favorite focal length, but depending on what you're shooting, that 25 can give you some beautiful establishing shots! And thank you for watching all the way through, you rock🙌
Absolutely loved this explanation David! I already knew it all but it made even more sense with your explanations, which is exactly what I hoped for! Thanks 🙏🏻 Peanut butter skittles 😂
PeanutButter skittles 🙂 Those cine lenses seem really nice, just very expensive. I do a LOT of product reviews, and most are done in my, what is supposed to be a a dining room, so not a lot of room, especially when shooting 4k. So a 35 wouldn't be wide enough I'm afraid. Not that it matters, I'll probably never be able to afford even one of those lenses. Nevertheless, thank you for taking the time to explain the differences in the photo and cine lenses.
Thanks David... As an hobbist snapper, I always learn something... F Stop vs T Stop did not know that. Made such sense the way you explained it... Peanut butter skittles, and yes I'd like to see a video on those lenses.
@@DavidManningvlog If I were to make a suggestion, maybe put it somewhere halfway in between as well with a different code word. Some people skip to the last minute or so. Just a suggestion. I wonder if they will make lenses for action cameras…probably not because not many people would add a lenses on one. Would be interesting to see how one would look though.
@@DavidManningvlog really appreciate your channel! Has me interested in photography and videography. Started off with GoPro and probably watch all the videos you have done on them! Thanks again!

Hey David, thanks a lot for your help. I'd love to see more on this topic. It's really interesting to learn about the differences in video quality.
Great job on the video David! Thanks for making it.
PBS! Really appreciate this explanation. I’ve always wondered and now I know! 😊
I had no idea! Thanks for going into those details

Great video but some sample footage showing flare. Ca. Fringing etc between the two or contrast shooting into lights / the sun would have been great.
