I'm glad no one was hurt and the chicken and dumplings 2.0 turned out great!! I have to admit that the glass pot gave me nightmares the first time you used it for a recipe.
My first thought when you revealed that clear pot was "I get why you want that but it is going to end in disaster. When (not if!) if fails it will make a huge mess and ruin the food, and glass has pretty terrible properties for cooking to begin with." You did get some nice shots with it before it failed at least
My grandma had a pink glass pot from the 80s or 90s. Held together well. None of the ones I see from modern times are as thick as the one she had. Based on google, hers was a Pyrex.

Not a hydraulic engineer, but I'm thinking the lid was the culprit. Probably a flaw in the glass somewhere. Lid increased the pressure inside and attacked the flaw.
More likely a thermal failure. Glass likes to be evenly heated/cooled, as glass expands and contracts according to it's temperature. There was nothing even about the glass temp, in this cook. Super hot temps at the bottom (burner flame) Small mid temp (liquid level) low temp (air level). This resulted in an uneven glass temp across the surface(s), causing stress to increase to failure.

Youre not alone. Many years ago, my mother was cooking vegetable soup using a pot with a tempered glass lid. About half an hour, the glass lid broke into little pieces and the shards ended up in the soup. She called the store where she bought the pot and they reimbursed her for the lost ingredients.

Do it as a pot pie, that dumpling with a little browning on it has to taste ridiculous. Skip the bottom crust, that's always goopy and raw, or maybe do them in individual dishes, make some extra liquid to use in the dumpling batter, then use them as cover in kinda spetzel form as a top for a little browning
Soak any pan in Myer's soap rise it then use natural charcoal to rub off rust and dirt or just use baking soda vinegar and lemon juice let it sit for one day and clean it
Reminds me off making a whole lasagna in a glass casserole dish... it shattered in the oven while cooking... what a mess and a total loss... still don't understand why it shattered. I used the same glass dish for years for all sorts of oven bakes...

My husband spotted that guacamole salsa right away. It is one of his favorites and always in our fridge. This will be a Thanksgiving leftover meal FOR SURE!!!
I’m so glad that stupid glass pot broke. Totally making this recipe for Christmas dinner.
Excellent job, AS USUAL. This was CLEARLY your most EXPLOSIVE show yet!!!
all my glass cooking items have been removed from the kitchen. side note my 4 year old loves watching you cook he always tells me how he wants some.
I'm loving the increased use of your smoker, my favorite way to cook. Keep em coming! (RIP Max Pot)
I'd love to know how we can get a cutting board like that square one you use. Please share. Sorry about ur glass cookware. Looked neat!
Living in Montana, I never get tired of anything you cook that has seafood.
We had pyrex, clear glass, and visions II, which were brownish glass sauce pans, never broke. My mom had them for years
The chili time of year is fast approaching! So many different ways to make it!
So happy no one was hurt ❤
I love melted butter on the dumplings on a side plate
looks amazing. I will definitely try that. can you do a thin crust pizza episode? crispy and chewy crust.
