  • Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
In today's episode, I'll flip through the pages of a recently filled sketchbook, lovingly handmade by John, a participant in one of my workshops. This sketchbook with watercolor paper, was wonderful to fill with my daily visual journaling.
From quick drawings and experiments with tempera sticks and watercolor pencils, to capturing urban scenes and moments in cafes, each page tells a unique story of exploration and growth.
Just like you, I too have the occasional struggle or less-than-perfect result, but I learned to embrace the process, knowing that every drawing is part of my artistic journey an growth.
As we flip through the sketchbook, I share insights into my creative process, including techniques, observations, and a bit of eavesdropping too.
Let me remind you about my monthly online mini workshops, where artists of all levels can come together to draw, learn, and inspire one another. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, you're invited!
Every sketchbook has its own challenge, whether it's a paper like this one, or the format, or something new and unfamiliar for you.
You get to experiment and play and discover and broaden your horizon and make your comfort zone a little bit wider with every drawing that you make.
    Your assignment for today:
Open your sketchbook. Make a drawing. Do it with the material that is maybe a little bit challenging for you. Just do it - push yourself and you will see that while you're busy working with it, you are learning a lot.
And if nothing else, You made a drawing. You had some fun.

I’ve taken your advice and make the most interesting drawings from the most mundane things. I am always tickled pink with the results and I have a good memory of that particular moment in the day. Thank you for your inspiring Draw Tip Tuesday videos; I look forward to them each week!

After watching a video from you, now I have my Opus 88 Demonstrator with a 2.4 nib. I just didn't have the courage (yet) to sand it as I have done with all my normal nibs to get the desired shape. May be I buy another one so that I keep one with the full size for calligraphy. I also have a Sailor fude that does in practice the same that your ground nib. I also got it because of you, and it is my preferred pen for drawing. It can make extremelly thin lines and of course the thick ones about the same width that the 2.4 parallel nib.
It is always a pleasure to see how artistic is every mark you make on the paper!

Hi Koosje, many thanks for yet another inspiring video. What was the music playing in the background please? My husband really liked it + I’d like to surprise him by chasing it down + playing it. Thanks again. Cheers from Australia!

Hi Koosje! I love your videos and your voice, thanks for putting up some great content for us artists. I’m wondering about your frames in the background with, I’m assuming, your beautiful artwork framed up so nicely. Did you make those frames? Do you buy them? Custom framing? Maybe most importantly, do you draw on certain size papers in order to fit standard frame sizes? Maybe you could do a video about this. Thanks!

These are standard frames and some custom made. It’s not my art, but by artists whose work I admire

Dear Koosje, many thanks for your videos and book - it's a pleasure to see how you sketch! May I kindly ask you about the Pilot Parallel Pen nib that you inserted to your Opus 88? Is it 1.5 or 2.4 width? Many thanks and best regards from Germany :)

Drawing with a pen - *fantastic*
    _Pens are unforgiving_ .
So using a pen - makes you draw more _tighter_
Do you/ anyone here first *make a thumbnail* ? And after the quick sketch (thumbnail) then make a fully detailed drawing...
    Thank you

    • @KoosjeKoene
      @KoosjeKoene  Місяць тому

I know many artists who do thumbnails first. But I just dive in (and then deal with whatever decisions I need to make that would already be made when doing a thumbnail first)
