This song symbolizes something. No matter how many shots you take at Metallica, saying the suck now, they aren't a great band, they were better 10 years ago. The aren't dead. They will continues to make music rather any of you like it or not. And for 30 years they have done that. You should be honored that you even listened to what they made!
If people call themselves Metallica "fans" they wouldn't bash this album, Load, Or ReLoad. Personally I fucking LOVE all of their songs! Metallica is the best band ever, hands down.
It's because on the album they wanted it to sound like it was a band getting together for the first time in a garage and just jamming. Which is ironic because this version sound much more raw and a lot better, as you've already noted.
although it was around METALLICA is who really brought palm muting to the listeners because it gave them the ability to play fast paced tempo's with out having a need for great attention to how hard or where on the fret they hit as long as the string is being touched in the general region making quick up and down strokes possible and pretty much making kill em' all one of the greatest albums ever by any band ive heard!!!

I found this video after watching the Machine Head - Aesthetics of Hate live with James Hetfield video. I know people say St Anger is Metallica's worst cd, but this song is pretty awesome IMO. I'll have to check out the rest of the album!
