Ive gotten a box of 5 in x 5 in squares of parchment paper from amazon. Works great and I dont have to cut up the parchment paper. Got a box off 500 sheets so it will last me a really long time
Thank you so much! The clear plastic does my head in - the current DM I'm working on, the plastic keeps ripping unevenly even though I've cut it, and I have trouble finding the pieces to lift out of the way. I had ordered some special paper months ago that never arrived, so to finely realise that your parchment paper (our non-stick baking paper Down Under) works instead - I am stoked! I'll be trying that this arvo on my DM! Thank you once more :-) Lifesaver!!!
Hi Grace! Again, ty so much for your great video on replacing that plastic cover that I really hate working with! I have used parchment paper before but have never cut it into squares, or long strips...Whoo Hoo, love this idea! I love your video's, you always bring a smile...and a few *giggles* to my face! Ty again, Grace, for all the helpful hints, and hope you will continue to share any and all of your helpful hints! God bless! 🥀🦋💎❤🙏
Great tip. I'm a visual person so seeing how it's done is helpful. I'm not a real fan of clear covers so this will help. Looks like non-stick parchment paper is on my shopping list.
Thank you Sherry!! I think it always helps to "see" something being done - I know I learn best that way too!! Better get a couple of boxes of non-stick parchment paper - LOL!! 💕🌼💖
Little tip that I have done in the past, was to place a strip of blue painter's tape over the plastic all the way across the canvas, then align a ruler over it, and cut the plastic with a very small "box cutter" on the edge of the tape. It gives a visual line of where you are cutting, and seems to help with the tearing! Hope that helps someone : )
I love the clear plastic, I put it on the wrong side once. On my goodness. Your sticker tip is a perfect solution. I cut ( most ripped) all covers anyway. Thanks for sharing.
I love the clear plastic too!! I love being able to see what I have done and which color I want to do next!! I put the wrong side down once - boy was that a mess - so hard to get it off!! The sticker really helps - I need all the help I can get - I'm such a klutz!! 😊💖💕

Hi Angie!! You would actually do the same thing with the other covers also!! The good thing is that they don't tear like this plastic!! I will do one with the other canvas also, so you can see. Love you my sweet friend!! I plan on a Paint with Me, soon!! 💕🌹💖🌼
Thank you so much, I tried cutting the clear cover on my first one and ended up tearing it and it was frustrating. I am new to your channel but find it very helpful!! I am starting my second painting and its very large, It is hard to get to the middle section with these clear covers, like you saw it sticks to everything when trying to get it back in place. Thanks again, am excited to start my second one.
Oh my gosh m a newbie on my first DP and the plastic ripped when I tried to cut it. I’m throwing it out tomorrow when I work on it again. Because it’s a mess I didn’t know you can pull it back and restock it again. I also didn’t know it had a bad side. Also after you put dianmonds on it doesn’t seem to stick anymore, so I guess I can just cut it off! I wish I’d seen this first. Thank you for sharing. Helps me out a lot. Any tips for when you spill your drills and they stick where they shouldn’t? I didn’t get much done today because I had to pick up the drills, and it wasn’t easy!! Have a good night. Happy drilling!!
I'm so glad this helped you. I'm sorry to say that there is no fast way to get the drills off if they land on the wrong part of the canvas. I usually just pick them off with my fingernails. Don't get frustrated - it does get easier! Enjoy your diamond painting!
Thanks Kathleen! I'm with you - I really like the plastic. I know there are some that hate it, so thankfully there are other options!! Love and hugs to you my sweet friend!! 🌼💖💕🌹
Working on my first painting. How would you handle if canvas was was not sticky enough? Has that ever happened to you? Mine has the flimsy plastic film and is a small painting and I will work with that but next time I will do the parchment paper. I am a visual learner and this video really hit home.
I have been very lucky to not have any that didn't have enough stick stuff on it. If it happened to me, I would either put some double stick tape down or I would use Aleene's Tack it Over and Over glue: www.amazon.com/dp/B00178QQ84/?ref=exp_gbmaltese_dp_vv_d I have also been using silicone release paper instead of parchment paper, but you can use either one. Hope this helps!!
I do like to section mine off but for some reason the last time I did with parchment paper (which I always use), the paper stuck to the glue. I have never had that happen before and it only happened in one area so I was quite surprised that it stuck. It was easy to get off though by just dampening it a little and using tweezers. I did wonder if maybe the glue was just really sticky in that spot maybe? Thank you for all your tips and tricks they do help us! Have a great day and take care of yourself.
Hi Cathy!! I had a canvas once that was so sticky that the clear plastic stuck to it so bad, that I thought I would never get it off. Maybe there was some extra sticky glue on yours too. It can be a mess getting things off of the canvas!! Hope you are having a wonderful week!! 😊💕🌼💖
Parchment paper squares stuck to mine also, but not the other 3 canvas I tried it on. I have no idea what happened? Now I save the opaque covers and cut them into 3 inch sections with my paper trimmer, could also use scissors with drawn lines
@@RedHatStamper Thank you Linda, I think I will do the same because it makes me nervous to use the parchment paper now. I don't want to have to be repairing the canvas because it stuck to it and you never know if it would damage it or remove the glue.
Good idea to demonstrate it Grace. I wouldn't cut mine either because I think of once you are done with that area, you have no way of keeping it covered and then dust/fluff/fur can still stick to piece that is done (I know cause it has happened to me) and it is really hard to get off once the drills are in place.
Thank you so much Cynthia!! Someone asked me to show how to cut the plastic, but I wouldn't suggest it either. I like to be able to lay the whole thing down to keep it covered up. You are so right - too many things floating around to stick on it!! 💖🌼🌹💕

My second painting has some dark areas and I can't make out the symbols on the picture or the ledger. There are to many to I can't read to use process of elimination. Send pictures to show how unreadable it is. Not sure if a bright overhead lamp along with the light pad would help or not. Sounds very frustrating - wish I could help more.💖🌹
