Yeah man, it was named Final Fantasy Adventure in the US. - Was the first RPG I played on the Gameboy. There has been a few remakes (check Sword of Mana- GBA), but I liked this one the best.

It never arrived, and they stuck a scam package tracking on the order - keeping me excited until the package took weird a turn geograpically and landed in someone elses mailbox across the country. Buying a second one will just be a reminder of this whole incident so I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Great video, You should remove the music during buttons tests. The reality is that it's not really important to know the differences between the three versions of the Miyoo Mini because it doesn't change the daily gaming experience. The differences are too small, in many other device they don't change the version number for such changes. (and I'm not sure that the screen was exactly the same between two V2 , it just seems that screen quality very between batch production, what could be interesting is to check the manufacturer of each screen :p )
My first and favorite retro handheld device. I have a V2 and now a V3. The V2 is going to my sister as a gift. The V3 buttons don't seem as good as the V2 but I'll take one for the team.

I wanted to get one of these because it seems like a great handheld for around $50 but it's been sold out or 2-3x that prices for ages. Doesn't matter how great it is if you can't get one. Probably going to get one of the newer anbernics instead.
I was able to snag one from the official store on ali express yesterday around 6am central time zone. They had around 200 available and they were all sold out in about 2 hours or so. So it seems they’re doing random drops. I just got super lucky as I had just learned about this device and decided to get one the night before, but found it sold out of price gouged like crazy.
The same miyoo mini handheld with a tv output would be my ultimate wish. That would be my desert island handheld. Others than that, it's a fantastic little system. And kudos to the onion os team.
great video, just one thing... when you are comparing and showing the sound of anything like the buttons is better if you cut off the background music....
I got the V2 and based off what you’re saying I’m glad I did. Mine comes tomorrow apparently. I think I’d rather a better screen than slightly better buttons
It's probably more based on the factory production time tbh. The later ones don't use the same display as the earlier ones made this year. That said, I don't think you'd really notice the differences too much on the screens unless put next to the other.
Probably coming a bit quickly to the conclusion that the v3 has a worse screen: I got 2 v2, one of them with a screen that became faulty after a few weeks of use and they sent me a replacement. So I had he opportunity to test a total of 3 v2 screens and they all had tiny color variations between them. Not enough to notice if you weren’t looking at them side by side so I’m wondering if that’s not just what’s going on here.
I've a feeling they just ran out of blackberry screens that fell off the back of a truck, and perhaps now they're using an easily available replacement.
Was that from the MIYOO official store on aliexpress? I posted up photos on the retrohandhelds discord showing the differences. Things like this show in photos seem to show up much better.
I really wish Miyoo would just make this same thing but bigger...maybe like Game Boy Color or Game Boy Pocket sized. Even a nice landscape GBA style would be cool too.
According to the official miyoo mini store, there's no such thing as V3, it's just a marketing tool some sellers do to gather pigeons to buy them. The qualitative differences can be explained in the low QA between units
Yes. Some sellers including miyoo mini themselves :-) Point is, we found that a few of the parts were different to the V2... Wasn't the V2 just marketing with a couple of hardware changes? End of the day, it doesn't matter. We're fully aware of RGC and his channel, we chat every now and then on Skype and do collabs.
The screen on the v2 nicer, but that isn’t worth the extra price you’ll pay for a v2 from a reseller. The v3 is perfect at its retail price. I would have no hesitation taking an originally priced v3 over a v2 that costs let’s say…$20 more.
Thanks for the comparison. I wonder how easy it is to find a V2 replacement display that's both properly affordable and actually accurate to the V2 claim? (Assuming it's simply a matter of "IPS vs other panel types" sort of thing)
Careful ordering this on Aliexpress. Set up an account had one in my cart but no stock. Next day get and fraud alert from my credit card company. Aliexpress try to run my card through even though I didn't complete the transaction and they had no product to ship.
Been waiting for a restock of the blue Miyoo mini since June, hoped there would be units available with the arrival of v3, but so far no luck.. Really glad I managed to get myself a gray v2 at least

It doesn't seem that punchy and crisp, it also washes out if I tilt it a little bit. wish I could compare in person to another V2, youtube videos don't do it justice. At the very least its nice to hold the device, its inviting to pick up.

I have the V3 and my screen looks vastly different from your video and I tested it with the same games that you did in the video. So it looks like its a luck of the draw on whether or not you get a unit with a good display,

Like this thing, but I already have a hacked vita, pspgo and 3dl xl so I just can't quite justify the expense when it doesn't really do anything my other systems can.

I don't own a rg280v, but I prefer it to a lot of the larger Anbernic handhelds. The Miyoo oozes charm and finesse, which many of the Anbernic handhelds do not.
I like how these reviews always say "At under $60 it's a steal" as if ANYONE other than reviewers can find it for that price. These get bought out by bots and scalpers so fast there's basically zero chance if ever getting one at MSRP.
No need to be defeatist, these were actually in good supply at the time of making this review. It wasn't sent to us, we bought it on our own intuition from AliExpress. AFAIK it's probably better to grab the Miyoo Mini Plus now, but I hear they've started to make the Miyoo Mini in the original size again.

There is actually no V3. It's the same V2 they are just calling V3. Miyoo themselves confirmed that. This is also confirmed by retro game corps of you see his channel.
I've not had any issues with save games- saying that, there may be some emulators in RetroArch that don't allow you to save. With these Miyoo Minis, the best option is to install OnionOS though- many bug fixes and the like.
Too many reasons. 1. Cost - Over 20 times more expensive? 2. Size - Miyoo Mini is ultra portable 3. Boot times - Super quick and then the obvious... 4. The Win 4 hasn't been released yet.
Not at all. We found out afterwards that Miyoo named the see-through black and blue models V3, and we are assuming that the one in this video is the latest hardware revision which has a different battery, buttons and display compared to the version which was sold a few months prior.

The creators of Miyoo Mini are great fellows ! I bought myself 1version and 2version ! Screen on the second is simply unrealistically beautiful !
Just received my V2 last week and seeing the display on the V3 I'm glad I didn't get the latest revision!
It's like if an IPS display went dull. The whites are now gray.
Me I'll be running with the Trimui Smart and GKD Mini Plus Classic instead.

nah thats the whole point of whys its popular. There's literally loads of bigger handhelds to choose from from anbernic and others.
Watch out for the p60 if you like a landscape handheld
Look at the RG353 from Anbernic. Looks sweet. Not the best chip sadly, but still decent.

Motion blur and details fading/disappearing when in motion also. That is what I noticed on the v1.

The newer one is a deffective batch, mine has a slightly warmer colour, BUT not has that washed out effect, looks awful to even think about it.

So the v3 is knockoff?
Not at all.
We found out afterwards that Miyoo named the see-through black and blue models V3, and we are assuming that the one in this video is the latest hardware revision which has a different battery, buttons and display compared to the version which was sold a few months prior.
