- Talk’s Cristo Foufas, commentator Jonathan Lis and activist Peter Tatchell discuss the move by Wireless Festival to ban ‘cultural appropriation’ clothing.
Clothing and other items, including ponchos and sombreros, have been banned by organisers before the three-day event this weekend.
Guidance shared on its website says that “clothing/garments/items which promote cultural appropriation” were not permitted at the festival.

Seriously, stop the world , i want to get off , this place is bonkers
@@alexedwards6509spot on!
I’m going with you !
So all the Africans have to stop wearing jeans then?
Joker
Good point...
@palrider955 'A poncho, bohemian chic, sombrero' all hispanic/Native/ American culture was pinpointed at the introductory of the debate. However Africans is what you gathered from this. lol....FYI- denim jeans were not invented by Brits neither so this completely debunks your bold statement.
@@lovelydiaxo you are correct Denim the material used is from France... So there for the Yanks have appropriated it from the French... See how easy it is to start claiming this and that and then use the cultural appropriation argument... what is damn stupid though, given all this diversity rubbish should we not be say there is no such thing any longer as we all should be working together as one??
@@hudsonbear5038 Denim material has evolved for centuries and reinvented itself over the years i.e Levi jeans. In the other hand, a feathered native headpiece has not evolved in terms of trend because it is considered sacred to natives. This is why Coachella is pushing the ban also onto the festival attendees for cultural appropriators because all these valley/insta girls turned up in them every year not knowing the traditions behind it. But hey, if you want to wear an oversized feathered headpiece to wireless looking like the YMCA mascot or to the football match that's on you.
So, any black person wearing trousers, shorts, shirts, sunglasses and hats are appropriating european culture. Will they be done for cultural appropriation? Africans never had any of those traditionally - or does it only work one way?
Blonde hair.
Ah man you took my comment right out of my mouth ❤😂
Cutlure is meant to be shared and enjoyed by everyone as respect for all races and cultures
Will the ban include the wearing of scarves that originated in Arab countries?
what a bunch of hypocrites all the white people on the Palestine marches must be lol
That tells you everything you need to know about that festival..... stay well clear!...
What about The Village People? Cancelled now? 😱
No they’re okay because they’re members of the Alphabet mob.
I will wear what I want thanks...........
Same here.
What if you identify as from that culture? Pmsl
As Katie Hopkins says so beautifully, Batsh1t Bonkers Britain!
Madness, utter madness. I’ve got a great idea, ban these festivals.
Better tell the black footballistas to stop dying their hair blond then.
*laughing in Melanasians.*We can't expect for you to comprehend that there are natural 'black blondes'. Now, I ain't heard of the 'blond' but I could imagine it must be the hair dye Jodie Marsh alternates between as a natural brunette.
And blue contacts. When to we get to cancel Beyonce?
@@gamera2020 Beyonce has hazel eyes and doesn't wear contacts google is free. Another fact is that Black people can be born with blue eyes 'Cydnee Black' and 'Stacey Dash' being an example because the black race has the 'Mitochondrial Eve' DNA. Even, Kylie Jenner sometimes wears blue contacts just like any modern aesthetic woman 'White, Black,Asian.' However, the subject highlighted at the introductory of the debate is that 'festival attendees are wearing sombreros, bohemian chic, ponchos' which is all 'Hispanic/Native/American' culture how does this correlate to black people. If a Native American, finds it offensive that a Brit wears a sacred feathered headpiece without growing up in that culture to glastonbury or wireless. IMO - This is not really so hard to fathom even Susan Boyle who wore that Native headpiece and got flack for it online.
@@Charlie-oj4wj But the female members of your family love black men with blonde hair. Var var vhooooom
@@lovelydiaxo She has worn BLUE contacts multimple times. Next you'll try to tell me she's a natural blond.
This WOKE NONSENSE must STOP.
Wtf I have no words
so no one but the British can wear a suit and tie ?
It's racist to tell someone they can't wear clothes based on their the wrong race
is it also a how dare they support Gaza ban?
and fascist
Let me tell you unequivocally: no Mexican would be offended by someone wearing a sombrero. We are proud of our culture and appreciate when people like it and wish to wear it.
That'll put paid to festivals! What about all rhe stalls selling Indian, African etc. clothes and jewellery? Isn't that what festivals are (were?) all about?
I wore my Hawaiian muumuu to the mall today in Sudbury Ontario.Thank heaven that I didn’t encounter a police person
will they be banning the hamas shemagh???after all they are cultural appropriation and offensive...
Yes, please
Does that mean I can’t use chop sticks at my local Chinese Restaurant
Give it a rest.
As long as all non European types refrain from wearing European/western clothing.
There's no such thing as Cultural Appropriation. Normal people just call it fashion.
Hear hear. 👍
But woman face is ok?
lol try stop me wearing a sombrero
Does that mean that I have to stop eating at my local Indian Restaurant
And the adults have left the room
Also the world is a melting pot of cultures and so are people mixed more bower days. How about the western culture?? Should we ban anyone not from that culture from wearing jeans, vest tops, trainers etc etc.
Yes according to what they want, right?
Will they also ban white people with dreads from the festival, I’d be onboard with that one 😂
This is sinister and total bollox.
Better send a retrospective summons to the cast of the three amigos then!
How about the white hippies with their dreadlocks?
That's banned apparently. White students have been harassed on US campuses for wearing dreadlocks.
this is Sparta
There's nothing that anyone's going to wear is inappropriate unless it's the hijab, everyone else should wear what they like and there is no one that can dictate otherwise.
All these lefties are comedy gold.
Does this mean only Italians can wear trousers ?
what can you say to this load of crap !!!!!!!
Keffiyehs ?
They will be handed out with a flag
They're still OK to wear at the weekly protests in London!
None Europeans should stop wearing suits then.
What a stupid idea - so all those ppl in suits, waistcoats etc who are not British....? lol and as another comment says, what about foods, no more curries? definitely time to get a grip
No more Hawaian shirts LOL.
don't know why they called it the Wireless Festival. After having a look who was playing it should be renamed the Whiteless Festival.
If these items are on sale to tourists in their country of origin, then they are inviting other people to embrace and enjoy their culture. This is yet again nothing but more virtue signalling.
The lounge suit was a British / English invention. Virtually the whole world uses it now. Should we whinge or take it as a compliment? Why? Is it so bad?
Why is any other country allowed to play football except England . After all England invented football.
Since when did ponchos become offensive? How b.... stupid. And no one cares what Tatchell says about anything.
Ffs🤦♂️
Will I get arrested for speaking French in France and why have all the French not been arrested for speaking English in England
Ridiculous
Peter Tatchell actually speaking sense for once.
the left is eating itself already lol
Some people are just looking for reasons to be offended by... stop playing the victim and chill!!!
It’s fish and chips for me now. That should be safe
Nope... That belongs to the ancient South Americans. However, the chips, belong to the Spanish. They will be banned soon for English consumption!
Does this include HENNA tattoos on non south-Asian people too? Give them wet wipes and soap at the entrance 😂
What about permanent tattoos all those tribal and Chinese style ones that were trendy not long ago… will they be not allowed in also? Fkin ridicuous
So only the Scots can wear kilts then? 😆 🤣 😂
Imagine having no control over your own internal racism and projecting it to the world and thinking you have any right to tell people what to wear.
I will wear what i want when i want and if your mental immaturity can't cope with that tough 😂
So i cant wear a mandarin collar now 😂😂
OMG 🤦♀️
Cultural appropriation? Give me a break.
People would be going to this festival to have a good time and not make a political statement.
This madness needs to end!
To finish eh Cristo your guests were unbearable to listen to much of the time. Ridiculous nonsense coming from their mouths.
What fckn BS!
This is a joke right
I thought a Sombrero was Spanish?
Sombrero is the Spanish word for hat, which can mean any hat in general, but it’s also a specific kind of hat in Mexico. 😃
@@Summer21. I seem to remember the Roman Emperor Sulla wearing a wide brimed hat to protect very sensitive skin. A word sums up all this nonsense, Humbug🤪

@@Timxthy-x2hit’s not Brexit causing your food prices to go up… it’s happening everywhere. Nothing to do with Farage either, as he just helped it over the line. Conservatives have completely bolloxed it up and it will only get worse under Starmer!
