It’s always worth hearing Richter. Yes. Blazing sun. He gives a wonderful breath mark even in the toccata opening. When the chorus arrives I think of a sunlit landscape of glory: G Major is sunlight on green. Even the Goldbergs are this to me. But we have the deep serious argument within the piece. Oh Bach you are testament to the best there is in life. Thank God for your mind.
Actually I have the original LP of this recording and the sound quality/recording quality is quite excellent, clear and transparent. Probably the way this was digitally transcribed for mp3 at likely a low bit rate has a lot do do with the lack of quality you're hearing.

Dear Karl I don't like the organ of Notre Dame. But it is amazing. I myself prefer a bit more litles organs
+ Jhr. Humphrey: Organist and organ Unbelievable, this is geniaal, Merci. ( recording not good.)
Organ is "overkill" - the middle section is awash in reverb, heavy reeds, legato playing ... Impressionistic Bach!
