I'm happy to see another explorer who is after wildlife. We go after the experience of nature. We go to try to identify new wildlife and plants. How the terrain and climate effects it's all and how it all works together is my favorite part of exploring.
A little tip: Engage your parking brake and THEN put the car in park. It’ll hold better and the car won’t lunge so hard (like it did at 7:01) which translates to way less stress on your parking pawl.
I grew up out that way, and when I was young, the tortoises were common. You didn't even need to go off road to find them. They were easy to spot on the sides of the highways. That's why so many got taken for pets.
Yeah, I saw a lot of box turtles as a kid in the Midwest and I swear their numbers have dwindled as well. When I go back home I never see them like I used to.
What a cool area, thanks for taking us along! Really enjoyed the historical perspectives too, I always think about who and what have travelled to the same areas we visit over millennia. Your production is top notch, can definitely tell you’ve put a lot of effort and the end result is so worth it. Looking forward to the next video.
This was one of the most enjoyable videos I've watched in a while from any 'overland' creator. Tremendous narration, story-telling, and shot selection. Videos like this motivate me to get better at my craft, so thank you for that!
Thank you for that, it’s cool to get feedback from people who understand the grind! The last episode of this little series is going to be a challenge. My GoPro was doing some weird stuff, and ruined a whole lot of shots! Time to get creative!
Hey Tyler great meeting you at Expo West in Flagstaff. This vid is just awesome. Did the Mojave Rd 2 years ago and like your experience, there was a special type of solitude out there. As an Alu Cab guy also I had no doubts you would be fine overnight even in that storm. One of the best purchases I have made along with your advice on the HEST mattress, loving that as well. Be safe and reach out if you are in Arizona. Tom
Are you the fella I met at the Tacoma unveiling? The HEST is awesome! They have some really cool accessories about to launch for the bed soon, but I cant say yet! I am stoked they are doing it though!
I do feel like I gush over your vids a bit much, but geesh Tyler, this video was so relatable and refreshing. You have definitely found your own style here with your productions. You really have a gift. A+ Haaa.... I'm gushing 😂 ❤❤
That’s an amazing area to explore and we do it often in our Gladiator and on our Adventure bike as we own a place in Beaverdam AZ which is minutes from there. We’ve seen a lot of desert tortoise there. East of Mesquite in the mountains is pretty incredible as well.
Amazing video Tyler. Love the editing, narration and drone shots are epic. What a beautiful area to see! Love seeing a fellow Alucab RTT owner out there, and spotted an awesome patch inside your rig! 😂
Thanks for sharing the trip. Everyone has a different view or perspective. It's really cool to hear yours. I love the thunderstorms we get out here in Arizona. Rough nights are memorable. That you did it. That you had the experience. Loved the cinematography of the drone footage at sunset. Gorgeous views.
Thank you for coming back to check out more! Those are from Fjallraven. Quite pricey but quite durable. I kept blowing out the pants I was wearing last year, and they weren’t cheap either. And most of the Fjallraven stuff has a lifetime repair program/warranty. bit.ly/43uYY44
I’m in a thunderstorm down here in Texas watching you in a thunderstorm. lol. The full time Overlanding has been fun especially with all the wildlife and critters hanging around my camp spots this past month. 🦀’s armadillos, wild hogs and coyotes have been aggressive here.
I knew someone would call it out! I actually had a section of walking up towards it, but my GoPro footage ended up being super jittery and almost unusable so I cut it out so I didn’t give people a headache.
Second, first comment!!!! Hahaha!!! You’re livin the dream life! I haven’t even watched the video. Still waiting on ads, but I’m sure it’s good. I caught a toad in my crawl space tonight working on the well, my 5 YO son was happy to relocate it :)
I’m always worried that if I break down way out in the bush that it’s going to be a huge bill to get help and repairs. What is your game plan for this scenario?
I work on trucks professionally, so I’m pretty confident if it’s something mechanical that I need to rig up. I have 2 types of radios, and a Delorme (Garmin) inreach device. There are a lot of offroad clubs that will come save people for free. But honestly, within 3-4 hours I usually see someone and people are typically happy to help, even if that’s just getting me to cell phone service.
I am using the Zerobreeze AC. It can be recharged through the vehicle or solar, if you have it. A few older videos I did on it: ua-cam.com/video/KUchatUyymc/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/feBEL4oAlYg/v-deo.html

My man! Its what its all about! Trails and rocks are cool, but ultimately I am there to experience more than bumps in the road!
👍👍👍 Love watching your videos with my kids . You give us inspiration for our own adventures. Have a good one Tyler.
Thanks for checking it out man! Heads up for the kids, episode 3 will have censored out cursing. But the critters we find are just awesome!

Great soundtrack!
Thank you!!
Love that you geek out on the smaller wildlife and are conservation-minded.
Just wait till the next episode!! 🫣

I’ll be back through to film some tortoises for sure! Such a cool area!
First! Glad you dropped a vid tonight because I want to keep watching stuff for a bit.
Thanks man! I’ve been catching up the best I can. I have a whole summers worth of videos to catch up on!
Amazing video Tyler. Love the editing, narration and drone shots are epic. What a beautiful area to see! Love seeing a fellow Alucab RTT owner out there, and spotted an awesome patch inside your rig! 😂
Hey man, that is a pretty sweet patch! I’m gonna have some nicer ones made soon and i will get one sent your way!
No tortoises! 😂

Awesome buddy! Your living that wild man lifestyle! How long do you plan to full time for?
At 18:01 there was an "abandoned" sign, I couldnt make out the rest. What was it a mine?
I knew someone would call it out! I actually had a section of walking up towards it, but my GoPro footage ended up being super jittery and almost unusable so I cut it out so I didn’t give people a headache.
Hello, absolutely love your videos, keep them coming. What’s the name brand of the pants that you’re wearing in this video?
Thank you! The pants are expensive, but super durable and have a warranty.

Great content as usual! I am thinking of putting 16 inch wheels on my FJ, does that require any modifications like spacers or so?
Nope, they bolt right on! Some of the OEM wheels were 16s

Thank you! I caught sooo many toads as a kid! I’m always happy to hear about kids who like critters! We need more of that!
Having Toyota reliability in the middle of nowhere is priceless.
It sure is nice! Though this old Toyota is starting to smoke a bit on startup!
I HEAR THAT! To hang out with Tortoise's instead of views, oh hell ya!

What kind of lighting strips are those under your awning?
Those are from Hard Korr lighting. You can get them from GTFO Overland. I used the stick on ones.

You know that Natives still live out there right???
Yes, sure do. But they don’t have to fashion up clothes from plants these days.
You can’t see for thousands of miles. Sorry buddy 😂
