Oh Romania... we miss you 💔 More thoughts on this travel day under this post: instagram.com/p/CiqHUgYtn9z/ 🇷🇴 Thanks so much for watching our videos guys! We really can't thank you enough 🙏🏼
In first class you get different seats color and more privacy. The idea of traveling first class in Romania means paying extra so you won't sit in a crowded area because few people pay the difference. Sorry to see you guys go what's your next destination? I feel like it's Ukraine because you're next to the border.
@@shockandawe7274 oh just seeing your reply! Yeah that makes sense about the trains... :) And you probably know, but the next stop was Portugal. We can't wait go back to Romania though. We have more to see :)
@@waysoftheworld_ Also, I'd like to say something about the second train. The train was stopping in every station, and the general quality was worse, because it is a Regio (short for Regional) (R) train. In Romania, Regio trains are generally the least taken care of, and they do stop in every village, that's their purpose. When possible, choose an R-E (Regio-Express) train, an IR(InterRegio) train or an IC(InterCity) train, or any convenient combination of them. They are slightly more expensive than Regio trains, but the number of stops decreases, respectively, as well as the travel duration, and in 90% of the cases, the quality is better. Also, always bring food, and if travelling during summer, cold water and something to ventilate yourself with, as all Romanian trains (especially the first one in this video), are prone to have broken AC due to the low maintenance.
Hi guys, just randomly discovered this video, and you were in my city! (Targu Mures) Kind of surprising, since not many tourists come here, as it's not a touristic city... 😂 I think I have to explain something about the trains. We have 4 train types: IC, IR, R-E, R, with IC (stands for InterCity) having the highest rank and R (standing for Regio) is the lowest. This ranking is based on the quality of the train and where it stops. Prices are also quite different. You travelled from Targu Mures to Cluj Napoca with an IR train (InterRegio), that means it stops at basically every place that is a town or a major connection point. The difference between first and second class usually is quite small in Romania (buying 1st class tickets is definitely not worth it), especially in the Siemens Desiro train you took on that route (which is famous for it's "fake" 1st class). From Cluj to Sighetu Marmatiei you travelled with a R (Regio) train that indeed stops in every single village. :) Your carriage on that route was a "classic" Romanian one. You should come back to the country once in the future to discover more of it. ;) Feel free to hit me up if you will ever need Romanian train advice.
Hi! Thanks so much for sending all this info about Romanian trains :) It will be useful for other people and for us next time! And we loved your city. The main reason why we visited is because it's not touristy :) It was awesome! We want to go back to Romania and see more of it, that's for sure! 🇷🇴
I love how your personalities shine through in your videos. Lunges in the hallway, deodorant stops, snickers breaks, etc. When you're not recording on these long train rides, what do you typically do to pass the time? Is there wifi?
Thanks Allie! These trains definitely don't have Wifi - some do have outlets so we can get work done on our laptops. But for the most part we just watch the world go by. I (Gordo) can stare out the window for hours and be perfectly happy.
You guys should also check the southern parts of Romania. There are nice cities like Tg. Jiu, Rm. Valcea, Craiova, and Drobeta-Turnu Severin. Or you can go to the Danube valley, the Olt gorge, and the Jiu gorge.
Hi! Yes, we would do that for next time. We already left :( We honestly had no idea there would be so much to see in Romania, so we kind of had to make peace with the fact that we wouldn't see everything in one trip. Romania is one of those countries that you have to go back to many times and we hope we get to visit again ❤ thanks for sending these recs by the way! The Danube Valley is HIGH on our list!!!
@@waysoftheworld_ Then it's sounds that you have a great list , I have many more to add . But until next time in Romania, let's enjoy this wonderful series 😍
You got the right attitude for traveling 😊 , just find the best part of the experience instead of focus on any bad side . This looks like a Regio train . They serve smaller places so they stop in every little village on the way , this is why is mostly used by local people. One needs patience. For traveling faster better use IR ( inter regio ) trains . They stop in bigger towns only . There isnt usualy much difference between 1 and 2 class just more room , bigger seat . There are a great variation in type of trains . The first one you took is called a Blue Arrow . The one to the airport in Bucharest is like that. The second has compartments . There are some that have 2 levels . The newer ones have one big room and seats more like a bus or around a table . These usualy have been build in the age of laptops 😅 so you get wifi , plugs and AC . On trade off is that they were not build for people to lie down . The older seats you could just use as a bed if it was empty but these new seats were designed for people who think one should stay in a up right position 10 h . One piece of advice for anyone taking the train în Romania. They are usualy late so if you have another train , bus , plane to catch leave around 1h of time between connections .
Hi Maria, thanks so much for all this info. You're the best! We're sure other travelers will find it very useful!!! We had no idea what type of ticket we were buying honestly or what type of train hahaha but happy we got to experience the older one honestly... it was a great experience. Our favorite part were the stops. Those old stations, with the person standing outside in their uniform directing the train... you don't see this everywhere, and we for sure appreciate it. @@waysoftheworld_ some of the best , interesting places I visited or experiences I had were done by accident 😊 . Getting lost or in this case taking a local train instead of a more turist route is great because you get to do something unique you would not have tried if you plan it . And like I said you got that Explorer attitude that alows you to enjoy and see the good part of each experience .
Tourists do go to Maramures, just not using a regional train for such a long ride, they usually take a sleeper car, i live in Bucharest and went there last summer with the intention of getting a seat in a sleeper, they were all booked and i had to ride in 2nd class, chairs were like in a bus just with plenty of space, but no table. But on a bright side you get to seat wherever you want, they usually don't assign a seat on regionals, and since the carriage is old, the windows open wide and you can film outside without having a the blur from dirt on the window.
I guess most people would prefer to take other trains or just drive... :) but yeah it was a cool experience. We loved being in this train, and the little stops. The old stations are beautiful! and of course... the views 😍 Romania is gorgeous!
Glad you had a nice time, in the summer there's a lot to visit from the beaches to the mountains and everything is so alive. A lot of nature around if someone is into that. What makes it great are the nice people you get to meet in between visiting the cool places.
Hi guys. While you were putting the deodorant under your arms Gordon and the train station music announcement came on, I was taken back about 25 years to the days when I used to take the train every weekday to go to high-school in Mediaş, Sibiu. This was for 4 years, started when I was 14 and finished at 18... Time flies... 😅 So lovely to see how much you enjoy Romania. I miss it a lot. Have lived in the UK now for 20 years... Keep up the great work!... lovely editing!... 👏👏👏

Hopefully we'll get to hang out when we visit the UK one day :) right now it's out of our budget, but one day we want to spend some time there!
2:30 yeah, you (the guy) are pronouncing many Romanian words perfectly. Maramures is what's impressed me the most, most foreigners struggle pronouncing that word properly beyond comprehension, but you pronounced it PERFECTLY a few episodes back. And come to think of it, you've also pronounced "Piata Mare" (The Big Square) in your Brasov (or was it Sibiu?? I don't remember) videoclip perfectly, as well. You're gifted :)
Fun train ride and what a beautiful countryside. Loved the stops at the small vill ages showing the locals! Did they come by with any food or drinks on that 10 hour ride?
Woof! That’s a lot of time spent traveling by train. I have to ask, if you had a choice, would you choose train/bus travel over renting a car? I know car rental is far more expensive but it seems in countries like Albania and Romania the train options are limited or at least take a long time. Thank you friends. Happy to see your subscriber numbers growing👏🏻👏🏻👍✌️🤙
A LOT! Thanks so much for supporting our channel and for sharing our happiness right now :) That's a tough question because we've changed so much. Before being full time travelers, we always did car rentals even if we had the option to do the bus or train. But when we started traveling full time, our budget forced us to rely more on trains and buses, and we discovered that we actually LOVE it. We always meet interesting people, fun stuff happens, we have a chance to sit and relax, talk, catch up with work, etc. In the end, it depends on the country. In Albania FOR SURE we prefer car rentals, but when the trains or buses work, we prefer to use those, even if it takes longer. We're lucky we have the time for it, and maybe it would be different if we had time restrictions... does this even answer your question? 😂 PS: car rentals are also great, we try to do both. But we have had this conversation before that one day when we can afford to have all the options, we will still travel by train and buses sometimes :) next time, I'll let G answer the questions. He's more direct hahaha take care ❤ thanks again for being here!

During communist days, maybe you don't know, but life for kids very really gray, and tourists which were travel by train. Use to throw candies to kids which salute them, and it's a storry from my father. They were so happy to receive in this communist prison sweets from tourists, as the communists shops were shitty and not even close of how filled and full of diversity shops would be in Western countries of Europe/America. This as a fun fact of past history moments, where we learn about what means kindness, ahead of politics and high differences were between East communist states and western occident.
Less than 40 years ago Romania was under one of the worst regime since World War 2 and now it looks like such a modern country, fully integrated in EU, it’s really surprising Wishing a bright future to this country and its people that had suffered so much

famous Aimara, sleep on the move is back :)
hahaha you remember! 😂💤🫶🏼
3:30 Snickers ain't one of the healthiest food(s).. but it does taste.. delicious 😅
(says the guy who recently eated both a Mars chocolate bar and (a) Snickers). 😁👍
hahahaha they are so good! And the funny part is that we rarely eat them in the US, but because we can find them in every country we've visited so far it has become like a staple on travel days... they're SO GOOD!!!
A travel by train teaches more about how a country is than a travel by car, asa you go slower and see things from certain height
We sure love train travel ❤️
Hey, I love your videos, how do you buy tickets online? Which apps/websites do you use, how do you know which train you have to take? I subscribed, I hope you guys visit Romania once again, and if you do make sure to check out Sovata, beautiful city!
Can you buy train tickets online in advance ?
yea you can, but only for certain routes. for more remote places you might need to buy at the station. Here's the link for where to buy from: www.cfrcalatori.ro/en/
Hi guys, next time when you visit Romania you have to go to Oradea, you will not regret it.
Keep doing what you doing, you guys are great.
Vă mai așteptăm pe la noi :)
It's on our list for next time :) thank you so much! We hope to be back many times!!! An amazing country!!! 🇷🇴❤️
Nice vlog
All the best 👍
Keep supporting ❤️
Thanks for being here and for supporting our channel!!
Could've taken a Fany buss to Baia Mare, take a day to visit the place, because it's worth it, and have a 1h drive to Sighet. Of course, if that was possible. :D
Oh no, we didn't do that :( well, another place to visit for next time... Romania is one of those countries you always have to go back to! Thanks for the rec!
Is it easy to use the trains?
Yep, super easy.
We need luxury trains with restaurant wagons! 🇧🇬❌❎🌶
Still not traveling with train in Romania... :))))
there are buses and you can also rent cars :)
Aimara looks like that American famous journalist, Natali Morris.
hahaha thanks! Have to look her up! :)
I live in Romania and I like it but have beds
Taking the train in Romania is fine if you have plenty time on your hands. The fact that it's so cheap doesn't hurt either.
👍

6:13 Is your GF / wife also doing what Victoria Beckham does / did ?.. When David Beckham also trolled her (instagram post) by filming her doing that.. while he was drinking his (guess morning) coffee ? 😅 The scene would have been almost the same if you stayed on your seat and filmed her trough the window 🤣
He said she often (like almost daily) does that (while he does something else.. like for example drinking a coffee in the morning) 😄
hahaha I'm dying 😂 we have no idea about that hahaha but G has been trolling me on my sleep in every single bus, plain, train, car for over a year now since we started traveling full time 😂 maybe I can make a video about it one day hahaha
Yes good train😂 Big city have good train ,but ín sighispara brasov and etc is the worst train line
It was about the journey for us :) but yes, of course there are much nicer trains in Romania.
Just recently found your videos when I was doing some Romania trip research. When this video didn't have exactly what I was looking for (specific train info for Bucharest to Brasov), I did another UA-cam search. In the video I ended up watching, I spotted you both at the train station! How bizarre! (This is the video in case you're curious: ua-cam.com/video/Y0zpq28iH84/v-deo.html) In any case, your videos have been super helpful. Thanks a bunch!
Hiii! Thanks so much for letting us know about this! We are Instagram friends with Evan and Lemon LOL and have been talking about meeting in person... which I guess we already sort of did. I just messaged them... we're laughing so hard with this LOL thanks for sending! And happy to hear our videos about Romania helped ❤️ We have so much love for that country! Have fun and safe travels 🇷🇴
Aw, yay! @@waysoftheworld_
Except even a kid can stole them😂
Yin Yuguo brought me here.
Hope you remember this as you travel by other countries, which are having bad economy, Africa countries for example.
Wow thanks for sharing this 💫❤️ We always remember this stuff and do our best to leave the places we visit better than we found them 🥰
Less than 40 years ago Romania was under one of the worst regime since World War 2 and now it looks like such a modern country, fully integrated in EU, it’s really surprising
Wishing a bright future to this country and its people that had suffered so much
I think people take the car... it's much faster.
Yes, much faster that's for sure ;)
The audio in this video really sucks! This is one of the worse travel video I've seen on UA-cam!
Thank you so much!!!! ❤️ You seem delightful! Hope to meet one day 🌟
