The 2-disk compilation "Passport - Kingdom of the Netherlands" had an interesting mix of progressive trance that also had some house influences. Some might pass a few of the tracks off as clothing store filler, but I think the remix of Varian - *Endless Desire* is something special that did something uniquely fun without supersaws or over the top emotion. That isn't to say that I hate all supersaws and I do occasionally go for a big 'epic' sound, but variety is the spice of life, and progressive trance has an interesting spice plethora to work with.
classic trance - early form, combines detroit techno, house and ambient uplifting trance - progressive trance with brighter sound vocal trance - progressive/uplifting trance with lyrics progressive trance - combines trance and progressive house acid trance - combines trance and acid house tech trance - combines uplifting trance and techno goa trance - trance mixed with indian music, psy rock and acid house dream trance - trance with piano/acoustic guitar themes balearic trance - trance with some island music psytrance - goa trance with industrial music hard trance - trance with hard house hardstyle - hard trance with gabber nitzhonot - a form of goa trance with laser kicks from israel greek uplifting - a form of psychedelic trance from greece dnb trance - trance with drum n bass
Uplifting - trance with driving, thumping bass lines generally with higher bpm and yes brighter sound, but more importantly gives a euphoric feel ie. Aly & Fila - running Tech trance - less melody with harder, industrial more aggressive sound ie. Sam jones - brainstorm Balearic trance - slower with more ambiental pads that give you the sensation you’re at the beach ie. Roger shah - call me home Your explanations are too simplistic, trance is all about how the music makes you feel
I hadn't heard of dream trance as a genre before but automically assumed it'd be something like Children by Robert Miles, and wouldn't you know it that's the example you used! I guessed it lol! Such a classic and legendary song!
Honestly i will stop sharing my music taste with anyone cause everybody wants to know it and i end up disappointed questioning my taste cause no one likes it.
Thank you for the demonstration. Though it helps to distinguish some genres, there is still some kind of confusion (maybe it is intended). As I understand, classic trance is kind of keep the spectrum cleared than other sub genres. But the progressive track sounds similar to the classic trance with some enhancements and more spectrum fill than the classic trance. The uplifting track is similar to Balearic, but the latter sounds like relaxing trance with the orchestral instruments. The uplifting track defines full spectrum fill and emphasize the high tones/notes. Of that is how it should be, that's ok. If I missed something, please let me know.
Always curious why people specifically leave out Infected Mushroom when doing lists that include psytrance or goa. Is it because they got too "mainstream"? They've made some of if not the best psytrance out there. And a lot of it.
I feel like infected mushroom is pretty unique artist, a lot of their songs practically exist in a genre of their own. They've mixed metal and rap into trance. Their first 2 albums are for sure psytrance. My favorite artist of all time
I used to like Trance but nowadays I think it's kinda boring and uninspired. Mainly uplifting and all the ASOT stuff. I recently moved into Techno but I somehow found my way back to Trance. Especially Hard Trance. I love electronic music itself (especially trance, synthwave, techno, house, synthpop, electronic metal, electronic rock, EBM (electronic body music), drum n bass, electronic from the 90s, electronic from the 80s and/or music inspired by those times)
I think what sets tech trance apart from techno is the rolling bassline that you dont get with techno. The movement and energy created by the rolling mid bass paired with the melody is what defines trance.
@@BoiledPatato well yeah... It's nowhere near everytime although they could have included Oxia - Domino (Phaxe & Morten Granau Remix) which is quite popular for a subgenre
Im not confident in this being entirely accurate. Vocal trance just sounds identical to classic trance but with a vocal. Surely you don't earn a different sub genre title via the simple use of a vocal?
There are a few of us who like this shit. I'm so glad to see Trance fans around here :D
Progressive Trance is the best form of Trance, honestly speaking. The old Anjunabeats produced some of the best.
@@countably_yours 2014 was to me the last of their greatest years...
Nah, Uplift is the best
@@HangryD4D if you're referring to the classics, yes. But the current uplifting trance tracks are way too generic sounding and overproduced.

🩶 Uplifting Trance, Progressive Trance and Vocal Trance 🩶
Wow,Nice presentation,
Thanks for this

Uplifting, progressive and dream are the best sub-genres preferably with female vocal or male speech additions.
Great example of 8:43 would also be Dimibo - Amani

Uplifting Trance reuses a bunch of elements from Ibiza/Balearic itself.
GOA
Vocal trance are the best

psytrance as in infected mushrooms? more like stoned trance rofl.
I feel like infected mushroom is pretty unique artist, a lot of their songs practically exist in a genre of their own. They've mixed metal and rap into trance. Their first 2 albums are for sure psytrance. My favorite artist of all time
Infected mushroom is full on morning old school (psytrance).

Progressive trance is nothing like what you showed us
Does anyone know what (Coded arms -core) classify as trying to find more song like that with a sad ish tone
Acid Techno is the closest i could find. Sorry if it isnt what you were looking for
Most Tech trance is actually just techno marketed as trance.

What type of trance is the Tekken - Poolside track?
uplifting, dream or a mix of both probably
What kind of trance would the spinning cat be considered?! 🐱 🪩
acid & goa trance, pls~
Acid is there. And goa is a mix of acid and psytrance, in my opinion at least
Hard Trance, uplifting, Progressive and classic for me all the way.
No to psy trance and acid
!
Hands up is more of a techno than trance...the best example of tech trance is robert miles' - children imo
Where is Progressive Psytrance? :(((
Psytrance> subgenres> prog Psytrance

Vocal trance is a mix between a uplifting and classic
That's literally what it is apparently, I also don't understand lmao
Acid and Balearic are the worst.
i think trance is cheesy
I cant tell the difference 😂
