Australia has welcomed in 2014 with a spectacular fireworks display over the Harbour Bridge in Sydney. It is estimated more than one and a half million people lined the harbour to watch the show, which lasted for 12 minutes. For the first time in a decade, fireworks were set off on the sails of the Sydney Opera House. They were specially designed not to damage the World Heritage building, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013. Report by Melissa Nathoo.
