I feel Like most of us BA players have this stuff. It’s a fomo box with 2 characters and a dex. It’s a great place to START collecting BA. As this with the combat patrol is 90% of what you’ll need.
@@drac9634 that’s a fair point. I saw the writing on the wall once they took assualt marines out with the space marine codex in 10th. Saved money by mixing up both intercessor kits, and all my bitz to get 10 on foot and 10 jumping (used first born jump packs)
I'm starting out and I don't really want this, especially with the new Combat Patrol. I don't want to spend a lot of money to spam 30-40 copies of the same assault units. I'd rather conserve my spending and experiment with different models to see what I like.
I just hope Astorath's head is a separate piece this time, so I can replace it with a Hello Kitty head without having to carve it out like I did with the present model.

Big pass. If I want Astro or Lemartes I'll buy them separately, likely used. If I want "Death Company" anything I'll paint them black with red stripes like GW did because APPARENTLY that's all it takes now. If I want anything fancier I'll get some 3D printed shoulders. Such a boring box.

How many characters and units did the blood angels lose? I know playing Dark Angels we lost some very important stuff. Losing the bespoke kits is awful. Just getting a lame and expensive upgrade sprue instead of detailed and dedicated kits and the price is way way up is unacceptable
We also lost Cpt. Tyco and Tyco the Lost, but that was almost inevitable given he's been dead in the lore a long time. We seem to have lost Corbulo and the sanginary priest with jump pack which I think is a bigger deal.
Don't know about BA players, but as a BT player, this box is on my radar, I need everything but Astorath. Lemartes will be kitbashed for a chaplain with jump pack.
I'm getting it for the discount on the non-bespoke space Marines units, and hoping I can recoup some money selling the new BA materials to someone else.
The Assault intercessors are the main off putting part of the box, if they made it 40 quid cheaper and took those out i might consider it, but i still have crap tons lf them left over from 9th edition. Also my army are successors so i wouldnt really have a use for astorath except as a painting project.

I was ON this shit this time. I refreshed right at midnight, clicked immediately and it said sold out. It was within 5 seconds. These boxes were basically never available. They had so few it might as well have been none.
I was one of those purchases. I was a bit surprised it stuck around so long. Never tried to buy a FOMO release before and was a bit nervous about people saying stuff sells out in seconds. I was also on the Warhammer site and didn't realise that I wasn't logged in and wasn't even in the right region. Was a bit confused why I couldn't see it at release time. By the time I worked it out it was sold out. Had already bought one from Gap Games, but was just testing in case I wanted to use the official site in the future.

They grossly under delivered with both rules and models. One or two cool characters and everyone else gets shoulder pads.... not exactly what we had in mind gw.
There is raising prices due to inflation, then also charging the most out of every wargame, using their own magic exchange rates, and effectively taxing the hell out of anyone that doesn't live in the UK. It's insane.

I'm not quite a fan of getting MORE Assault Intercessors, but given that I have a bunch of 3rd Party Jumpkits, converting them to Lemarte's Backup Dancers of Death is gonna be pretty easy.
I'm a fairly long time blood angels collector. I'm not getting it. I'm pretty upset with how GW is moving away from the firstborn. I have a pretty significant firstborn collection already, and it's frustrating that more and more of it is no longer playable.
Im a newer player so not as much pain but i feel i missed out on the great detail and uniqueness of first born all of that is getting washed away is what is bothering me. Sorry for you BA brother
Been playing Blood Angels since 2nd Edition. I played Templars since 3rd. I've ALWAYS hated 1st born despite that I had a 1st born army for more than 25 years. I LOVE Primaris. The scaling looks so much better and honestly better detailed. Hell, I still have about 30 Tactical Squad Marines from 3rd Edition new on sprue. They just look so generic.
You… you do know you can just use your firstborn minis as proxies for primaris ones right? Like, literally no one is stopping you? Just stick them on Primaris base sizes, do some finagling to make them taller if you’re worried about LOS. Why tf would you think the effort you poured into this hobby needs to go to waste just because the game evolves? Sure, they aren’t making more firstborn marines but you’d be insane to be upset about that. GW is a business, they have to do this. That’s like being upset that Apple doesn’t make more iPods just because you reallllly like the one you’ve had for 20 years.
@@CuriousLumenwood This!! I own an old ass Warriors of Chaos army during WHFB and didnt bat an eye when the new Slaves to Darkness range came out. Most of my now outdated models are happily being used to this day. I bought into the Slaves Darkness range even buying the new Chaos Warriors kits. I just mixed the units together for more of a realistic appeal showing not every warrior will be the same height or size as long as they were on the same base haha. Also gave me a chance to update my old models with bits from the new kits. In hindsight, had I known Old World would be a thing, I probably would have created a seperate StD army haha. Firstborn can be done the exact same way because it just so happens the helmets and guns are too big for the old models making the primaris stuff the same size. Marines are also not the same size as well and have seen many people convert firstborn to be larger if desired
Hell no. The new characters are nice. The new DC and SG are trash, they're just lazy and uninspired. If i want discounted assault intercessors ill just buy second hand. Axing the Jump Priest, Lib dread, and Seth is also a complete travesty. The foot Priest can lead 8 units and only ONE is not a shooting unit to benefit from his extra AP *in melee.* The rules look decent at least, but still, feels like a f**k you to existing players, super disappointing.
Firstly love your videos, its where i get most my warham news after the warcom site. I will be buying but purely for the codex as i have a game scheduled on release day and I really want to use the new rules. the other contents I'm fairly indifferent about, excited for the 2 characters but that's it.
At one point I was thinking of starting a BA based army, but with all the kits I loved the look of going away, I can't see myself even being able to buy what I want from GW. Now 3d printing and a company like Tortuga are the only options, even if I hate working with resin ;-;
The new Blood Angels releases have killed any interest I had in further collecting and working on my favorite legion in favor of simply continuing the Xenos projects that I already have. Dark Angels and Black Templars are eating good but Blood Angels simply received black and gold Ultramarines while permanently removing any flavorful models I was interested in from the store.
The fact that it has Assault Intercessors and the Combat Patrol has Assault Intercessors lowers the value of the box. I personally wouldn't get it and focus on the new Combat Patrols. You should get 2 if you are starting Blood Angels. The Army Set is a hard pass.
I think my first born blood angels are FAR superior. I say this actually liking the primaris marines and have a 3000 point ultra marines army. I think my blood angels look lore accurate too, every blood angel has custom looking armor.
I really wanted to be able to get this as I just started collecting Warhammer again with Leviathan. But I just can't afford it at the moment as it is a week before payday and I had my motorbike stolen on Monday. As iv not been able to get anything for months now, I just feel like packing it in. I love the hobby but sadly it is just out of my reach.

It's a fairly good discount, especially because I'm using this as the basis of a Minotaurs force and selling the codex+ upgrade and characters to a local Blood Angels player.
A bunch of models you can get for 1/2 price on ebay and 5 dollars worth of resin upgrades that any friend with a printer can make for you. And 2 charactors that any blood angel player already has. No thanks.
21:48 it’s not just what you mentioned. The spears are Stormcast, certain options have been removed or minimised. The bodies are just old digital assets with some dents for abs added in They’re just lazy
People seem happy with the box as far as value is concerned. And the actual rules in the codex, but seem universally not happy losing so many units even if the writing was on the wall for a few.
I hope I can get a copy, missed the pre order, I hate how they make you feel the fomo. But historically I found that I can usually find a copy in stores on release.
I think I'm one of the only people happy about death company not having their own sculpt. Means you can just paint normal jump marines black and give them a few power fists and a big chain sword. Makes them nice and cheap to get a hold of.
You could always do that though. I did that with my Firstborn (mixed Assault Marines in so I had more bodies). Having a kit with molded details would have been much better. I just wish the upgrade frame actually had more upgrades. Alternate chest pieces for the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs or something. I dunno.
I was able to easily buy 2 deathwing assault boxes at a discount nearly a month after release. This box is far less desirable and the market is weaker. No need to fomo.
No, I had planned to kitbash with a spare OG Death Company kit, just going to build them as is now and proxy, I can't justify the time effort and money for this bland refresh effort. I may get a box of the sanguinary guard and convert them to jump captains though. If you're new to the faction though it is a good deal
I got the 10th starter edition after 9th (leviathan is better) before moving into my chapter specific boxes and have a pretty complete setup now. Depends on who you want to play, what style you like etc as a starting box it’s good and if you want to sell the blood angels parts you could make most your money back on eBay whilst still keeping the 20 troops and dreadnought if playing another chapter.
Happens to just be everything I was missing on the Death Company side of things and 4 upgrade sprues, being the more fleshed out kind like the Black Templar one, is honestly surprisingly generous of GW, even if sliiiiightly weaker than the first born upgrade sprue.
I'd pay $230 for the box alone. OK, not really, but it's a cool box. I'll buy this because I don't actually have many Death Company and don't have a Brutalis yet. Gonna miss my Furioso, though, at least competitively. Goodbye clawbox! And I just got the Joytoy Furioso action figure, too!
After playing a few games with The Lost Sons detachment, I don’t know what most people are complaining about. Is it as strong as LAF, no, but it plays well, and is very strong late game. It is also not strong enough that it will be nerfed into non-existence by the winter update. It’s better than Gladius for overall melee, and has a ton of play. It’s funny how people complain about how weak a detachment is even if it only weaker than a single other detachment. Play before you complain
Im getting it but 99% because I still don’t have a shitload of assault intercessors and jump intercessors. The two characters and the amount of upgrade sprues you get are also pretty great because honestly the box is an insane deal. RIP dc dread though, killed by word salad I’ll probably run a standard brutalis out of that though because man that ability is so janky until it gets an FAQ
If I wanted to start BA I think this set and the CP would be a pretty decent start. If I didn't already have a bunch of assault intercessors and jump pack ones this would potentially be a decent pick up. Alas, I don't want to start BA and already have plenty of the filler models. I think the new characters and the box itself look really cool though.
After factoring in that the DC wargear options aren't actually that bad it's a great box. I'm upset we've lost a lot of their original flavour but the box set is unreal, the 4 upgrade sprues make it phenomenal value

Value is good. But remember the golden rule of these boxes, if you diddnt already want whats in it then dont buy it.

They can still play them? You can just proxy gabriel seth as a captain for comoetitive games and use legends rules for not competirive games.

We lost the Librarian Dreadnought, which is nuts given it's a trademark BA model, and the standard Dreadnought is still playable in 10th.

Play Horus Heresy. They're all first born over there. It's just that Mk.VII space marine armour hasn't been invented yet.

Hell no. The new characters are nice. The new DC and SG are trash, they're just lazy and uninspired. If i want discounted assault intercessors ill just buy second hand.
Axing the Jump Priest, Lib dread, and Seth is also a complete travesty. The foot Priest can lead 8 units and only ONE is not a shooting unit to benefit from his extra AP *in melee.*
The rules look decent at least, but still, feels like a f**k you to existing players, super disappointing.

I will be buying but purely for the codex as i have a game scheduled on release day and I really want to use the new rules. the other contents I'm fairly indifferent about, excited for the 2 characters but that's it.
At one point I was thinking of starting a BA based army, but with all the kits I loved the look of going away, I can't see myself even being able to buy what I want from GW. Now 3d printing and a company like Tortuga are the only options, even if I hate working with resin ;-;
The box isn’t aimed at me, but then none of the big boxes have been so far. Time will tell if that remains the case.
The new Blood Angels releases have killed any interest I had in further collecting and working on my favorite legion in favor of simply continuing the Xenos projects that I already have. Dark Angels and Black Templars are eating good but Blood Angels simply received black and gold Ultramarines while permanently removing any flavorful models I was interested in from the store.
The fact that it has Assault Intercessors and the Combat Patrol has Assault Intercessors lowers the value of the box. I personally wouldn't get it and focus on the new Combat Patrols. You should get 2 if you are starting Blood Angels. The Army Set is a hard pass.
I think my first born blood angels are FAR superior. I say this actually liking the primaris marines and have a 3000 point ultra marines army. I think my blood angels look lore accurate too, every blood angel has custom looking armor.

It's a fairly good discount, especially because I'm using this as the basis of a Minotaurs force and selling the codex+ upgrade and characters to a local Blood Angels player.
A bunch of models you can get for 1/2 price on ebay and 5 dollars worth of resin upgrades that any friend with a printer can make for you. And 2 charactors that any blood angel player already has. No thanks.

People seem happy with the box as far as value is concerned. And the actual rules in the codex, but seem universally not happy losing so many units even if the writing was on the wall for a few.

Huge Blood Angels fan and not getting it. Got the old models. Prefer the old models. Easy choice for me.
I think I'm one of the only people happy about death company not having their own sculpt. Means you can just paint normal jump marines black and give them a few power fists and a big chain sword. Makes them nice and cheap to get a hold of.

You could always do that though. I did that with my Firstborn (mixed Assault Marines in so I had more bodies). Having a kit with molded details would have been much better. I just wish the upgrade frame actually had more upgrades. Alternate chest pieces for the Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs or something. I dunno.

I was able to easily buy 2 deathwing assault boxes at a discount nearly a month after release. This box is far less desirable and the market is weaker. No need to fomo.
At this rate i would prefer that GW do just make generic SM and upgrade sprues more cheaper 🤔

No, I had planned to kitbash with a spare OG Death Company kit, just going to build them as is now and proxy, I can't justify the time effort and money for this bland refresh effort. I may get a box of the sanguinary guard and convert them to jump captains though.

I got the 10th starter edition after 9th (leviathan is better) before moving into my chapter specific boxes and have a pretty complete setup now. Depends on who you want to play, what style you like etc as a starting box it’s good and if you want to sell the blood angels parts you could make most your money back on eBay whilst still keeping the 20 troops and dreadnought if playing another chapter.

The new astaroth and lemartes models are pretty good. The rest is pretty trash though
Happens to just be everything I was missing on the Death Company side of things and 4 upgrade sprues, being the more fleshed out kind like the Black Templar one, is honestly surprisingly generous of GW, even if sliiiiightly weaker than the first born upgrade sprue.
If you need just the two new minis then no. If you need the rest as well then go for it

After playing a few games with The Lost Sons detachment, I don’t know what most people are complaining about. Is it as strong as LAF, no, but it plays well, and is very strong late game. It is also not strong enough that it will be nerfed into non-existence by the winter update. It’s better than Gladius for overall melee, and has a ton of play. It’s funny how people complain about how weak a detachment is even if it only weaker than a single other detachment. Play before you complain

Im getting it but 99% because I still don’t have a shitload of assault intercessors and jump intercessors. The two characters and the amount of upgrade sprues you get are also pretty great because honestly the box is an insane deal.

If I didn't already have a bunch of assault intercessors and jump pack ones this would potentially be a decent pick up. Alas, I don't want to start BA and already have plenty of the filler models. I think the new characters and the box itself look really cool though.
After factoring in that the DC wargear options aren't actually that bad it's a great box. I'm upset we've lost a lot of their original flavour but the box set is unreal, the 4 upgrade sprues make it phenomenal value

You know, in all likelihood, they're probably gonna bring back seth in a primaris variant. Idk why they took away the rules but I feel like that's the route they're taking
