Lyrics:
All around me are familiar faces
Worn-out places, worn-out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you 'cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles, it's a very, very
Mad world (mad world, mad world)
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello, teacher, tell me, what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me
All around me are familiar faces
Worn-out places, worn-out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you 'cause I find it hard to take
(When people run in circles, it's a very, very)
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello, teacher, tell me, what's my lesson?
Look right through me, look right through me
Mad world

As an old country radio guy who mc’d bluegrass festivals over 50 years ago I’ve got to say Sierra Hull is the greatest talent on stage today. Thanks for the studio version of this one … if only today’s corporate conglomerate radio would play it!! ❤️
Nobody is listening to the conglomerates anymore. At least not anyone who really cares about music. I guess there are up sides and down sides to that.
This is a wonderful arrangement, beautifully recorded and produced. What a talent Sierra is!
So rare that a great singer is also a virtuoso instrumentalist.
Fabulous rendition and I've heard many.
So beautiful. I am not a Tears For Fears fan. Nor new age type much fan. I'm a metal/hard rock fan. But this.... This is so lovely. It's heavy. Almost a little haunting. I couldn't get your live version out of my head but I couldn't remember the name of the band so I looked for a LONG TIME. It was worth it.
I play tenor banjo, mandolin and fiddle😂 alas I had a stroke 7 months ago. My playing is slowly coming back (hard work is an understatement) going to see Sierra September 13 can't wait ❤
I saw her yesterday; never heard of her before-💖💖💖WOW! She is as pure an expression of music as can be!! I hope your pickin quickens quickly!
So happy to hear this as an official release, fell in love with your version last year, bringing older songs new life allows the next generation to enjoy something they may have never experienced ❤
Your 2022 DelFest (Cumberland MD) live version of this is out of this world, and especially your solo on that live track. Amazing.
Yea hate to say it but that’s the best version of her cover of this song. This is interesting but it does not have near the punch that DelFest version does
Every time I hear your music I'm grateful for your band and you. Thank you!
I've played it through more than a dozen times and finally got out my Grados. There were tears shed! If you aren't hearing all of this, I encourage you to find a way. I figure Sierra is responsible for most of what this is so, thank you, Sierra.
This is now my favorite cover version. I hope radio plays it
Always loved this song. Her voice really lends itself to this one. The haunting vibe to it reminds me of when Krauss does haunting. Great choice, well executed!
I've loved this cover forever, so happy to finally have an official upload!
Brava! Sierra, what a treasure you are!
Awesome arraingement, played perfectly. Thank you!
because the song is so good the judge will probably give her probation.
@@billandrews6429 ummm...this from a former defense lawyer.
It took me a few listens to get used to this lovely studio recording as against Sierra's and her band's incredible live versions...All involved nailed it - no instrument is overplayed, but played perfectly to what the song should take as it rises and intensifies...And then there's Sierra's vocals, superb!
Absolute banger
Gorgeous version of one of my favorite songs. I hope an album will be coming before too much longer.
Great sonic craftsmanship
A studio version, finally! Absolutely wonderful!
I watch your live video of this at least once a week. I am so happy to finally have an official release to own. Thank you!! As far as I'm concerned, this is your song now.
I like the spatial approach of this arrangement. It has this 'dimension'. Bravo!
I see your point, but the live version just feels more authentic and genuine. Sierra has played it at every show of hers I've been too.
@@billandrews6429 I won't argue about that🤐
Haunting and beautiful!!
SIERRA IM GLAD SOMEONE WITH OUR LAST NAME IS MAKING MUSIC SOUND GREAT AGAIN 😊❤
Amazing cover of a classic band.
Magnificent ! ❤
I’m reading the comments and it seems like some folks aren’t aware that this is actually a Tears for Fears song. Well done, Sierra.
Magical.
A new generation’s Alison Krauss. I still treasure your 2020 cover of Prine.
Oh that touches my Heart!❤️ What A great arrangement and beautiful voice!Thank you Sierra! Makes me Smile💜🎶💜
One of my favorite songs. I think whoever wrote that was a prophet.
Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears
What word of de worldt?
I just recently got see this group live and have to say probably the best I’ve have seen really glad I got to see them. Thanks for so much for the old school music
I wasn't expecting this. Where have y'all been hiding? This is not only a legit remix, but it is beautiful. Thank you...
What a great rendition! Well done!
Awesome! 👍👍
Wonderful, , Haunting and Beautiful, , I love the interplay of Mandolin and Guitar dancing so nicely during this ✨
Very, very nice!
Nice! Flat too... BTW...my father had a pass down ~1905 The Gibson Mando...used to try to play it in the 1970's..T Shell guard had crumbled by then. He sold it later.... Your's reminds me dearly. Thanks
SIERRA HULLLLLL
What can you say apart from truly amazing version of a great song 👍👍
Amazing and exquisite!
Sweet! and what a Mad solo!
Sierra is so very beautiful and talented:)
Heard on 91.7 KXTX in DFW. Wow ...thank you...
Legendary!!
Yeaaah 👏👏👏!!!
Great job on this cover, Sierra!
Strong Chris Isaak, Wicked Game, sound.
I Pet Goat sound at the end.
hell ya
❤lovely ty
A lovely interpretation.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't think you could make any version of this song I don't love. Delfest version is still my all time fav. but this is great in a more laid back feel. Anybody that hasn't checked out Curt Smith & daughter's acoustic version during COVID it is well worth the listen.
Awesome rendition, please consider doing "That's The Way" by Zeppelin one day. Thank you Sierra.
You're live version of this is also great.
Hit like before hearing a note!
Experience has taught me I'll like anything she does better the 500th time I hear it than the first time I hear it. I'm always thankful YT has the loop feature.
nice
thanks you ♥︎
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your voice. 🫠
❤
Open onto a post-apocolyptic America. A small village with huts around a square, with only a few left who remember what America was . . .
Absolutely love Sierra Hull, love this cover... may I please get your tablature for this song 😅
I only have 2 issues with this version.... Both the song and the mandolin solo aren't long enough. It's different but equally as brilliant as the live version.
28 days 6 hours 42 minutes 12 seconds
to be honest, I prefer the live version done in that crowded portacabin. If it wasn't for that one bum note your guitarist played in his solo, it would have been perfect.
This version - undoubtedly played with great skill - seems to trying too hard in its production. It's still nice, but lacks the authenticity of that old version. This one feels just a tad too 'smoothed out' to me.
Honestly, I've listened to that version at least twenty times and never thought of it as a 'bum' note, just jazz. That's what I get for growing up listening to too much Grisman and the Flecktones... no wrong note if you can own it!
@@MostlyHarmlessNebr-gb6di
haha - yeah I try to pass it off as intentional myself, but you can tell by the slight wince on the guitarist's face that he knows he slid up to the wrong note briefly. And the fact you knew which note I was talking about...not so much a blue note, more a brown note.
Is it just me or is the live version better?
This song is about a personal choice to decend into to Hell. No mention of the Lord Jesus Christ in this song.
I’m a believer and find your comment to be so…how do I say it…obtuse. Yes, obtuse. Do you sincerely believe every song must reference Jesus in some way? Maybe the song is about a person that’s struggling. Get a grip, relax, and enjoy the music. Or not.
Nice but…DelFest version is far better…
This is awesome but I agree on the DelFest version. However, let’s just enjoy this piece as it is - without comparison. 👍🏻
you're too talented to be doing overdone covers that everyone is tired of... you easily made this the best version i've heard, but that's easy for you to do and not really saying much. liking it regardless though. much love babe!
She's done several covers that are just magic. Covers are a part of bluegrass in general, and this kind of genre bending is really cool. And in fact a cover is how I found Sierra a few years ago.
@@bluetoes591 same
Nothing wrong with covers dude! Especially when they're better than the original Tears for Fears version.
