I'm grilling my first Tomahawk steak this weekend so I've been watching tons of videos, and this is by far the best! Very well explained and easy to watch. Looks incredible! New subscriber from Mexico City.
Great video! He explains it well, and no BS, just cooking steak. A lot of clowns with more gimmicky approaches and 'fancy' editing could learn a thing or four from this guy!
I did watch loads of videos on how to cook this precious piece of meat , and decided to follow ur way since it is the easiest and made sence to me, made it for father's day today and followed every step you mentioned except that wood which i didn't have but it turned up amaaaaazing ,thak u soooo much💞
Looks good man! I love seeing people use royal oak coals! My wife bought me a bag a year ago and I've been hooked! Bought my first tomahawk steak today 3 pound ribeye, fixing to fire the Webber up in about 15 min! Thanks for the advice, I'm following your advice!
Great looking steak. I always look at them when I'm shopping at Sam's. Really enjoy watching your videos. Also a big fan of Malcolm Reed's BBQ rubs. Keep up the good work.
That's how I cook them also looks awesome. Last week I did a experiment on temps on my 26 kettle with indirect heat with 2 thermometers the one closest to the coals was 250ish and the one farthest from the coals was about 350. I kinda figured that there would be a difference between the two but I didn't think that it would be that much lol
Hi !! I Loved ur Video, just have a question, ive understood that you shouldnt flip that Much the steak, and you do it a lot. Whats Your Thinking on That ? Awesome Video Btw
Cooking over coals that hot you have to flip it a lot or you risk uneven cooking or burnt meat. If I’m doing lower temps I definitely don’t flip it as much. Thanks for watching
Absolutely amazing looking steak. Well done and thanks for all the videos and knowledge. I have a weber q but ive recently retired and im looking at purchasing a charcoal grill. Can't decide between weber kettle and pk grill, but i think you might have made my mind up. Thanks heaps Paul from Australia👍
@@501BBQ I noticed you have a pk 360. They are $1500 here in Australia. Can get weber with accessories for half that. So might go with weber. Thanks paul
Hi! I didn’t get to cook a tomahawk steak, but I did have a 2 inch 21/2 pound sirloin that I had no idea how to cook on charcoal grill. I tan across your channel and watched all the way through, and thought why not follow your video and maybe just have to make a few adjustments. That’s what I did, and if it wasn’t for your expertise of communication and your skills I would of had a burned outside and raw inside expensive piece of meat. It turned out great! Family enjoyed and I was proud of myself. Thanks very much for helping me through it
Thanks for your detailed instructions! I got a 120f temp after 40 min, I should've check the temp more often. I kept the bbq between 300 and 325f. Still, it was delish.
Hey bro great video. Where you located in Arkansas. That's my home state I live in Texas now. Man that tomahawk steak look perfect also love using Malcolm Reed killer hogs BBQ rubs man he's got the best rubs out there. Keep up the good videos and keep on GRILLIN

Can't wait for that 4.1K subscribers says 4.1M subscribers so I can say, I've been following that genius cooking channel😎👍😊 Great video! But what is the difference between your first timed thermometer and the thermo pen? Just the fact you can cook with the other one?
No expert here, but I like to wrap them in foil with butter garlic salt pepper to taste. After you near your desired temp I then open the top of foil and put under broiler for a nice sear on each side, usually only 2 minutes per side but you can look for the crust you want. But as the gentleman said bunch of videos online these days to get tips.
@@angelcorchado4410 I will try this. I was at Sam's and got a beautiful Tomahawk Ribeye steak for about $24 bucks about 3 pound steak on sale. The one I wanted was way to big it was a 72 ounce for about $40 dollars.

Unsalted is what we used. Appreciate you watching!
Hey! Great video! I love reverse sear method…. Do you know approx how much is the carryover heat after sear???
I think it carried over approximately 4 degrees
What kind of gloves did you use? I did what you did and the steak was perfect ty for showing this video
Just used cotton gloves under nitrile gloves. Glad it turned out good!
Great job

Great video! But what is the difference between your first timed thermometer and the thermo pen? Just the fact you can cook with the other one?
Thank you! The Thermapen is just a instant read thermometer. The chef alarm has a probe that you insert for the whole cook
Do you order those seasonings online or can you get them from a local store? Awesome video!
I order both of those online. Thank you!
Awesome

Great vid

Mannn that look delicious 🤤
Thank you! It was! Appreciate you watching
What is the brand of the saucepan you used to melt butter?
Not sure brand. Just a cheap saucepan that came with a brush on a endcap at a grocery store
I always like to sear mine first. Gets the carry cooking out of the way. Reverse has a tendency to overcook carry over imo
I agree. A lot of time I do sear first. Lot less chance of over cooking
What do you like better for all around backyard cooking, the Weber Kettle or that PK?
Probably the pk 360 if I had to pick one. Really like them both though! Thanks for watching
Hiya, What us the name of the seasoning you used. I got the Steak rub but the other one is?
Blues Hog Bold and Beefy. Really good!
frenching...its called frenching when you clean (scrape) off the membrane from the bone.
Thank you for clearing that up for everyone
looks good! wish I could do a proper reverse sear on my Traeger!
Appreciate it! One way would be remove all diverters where you sear right over the fire pot
@@501BBQ ill have to try that!
Should work good!
in Switzerland this steak would cost about 130.- dollars. cooked at home not eaten in a restaurant. Can you see how lucky you are in the US 😂👍
Wow! I think I bought it for like $28 to $30!

😂
Nice steak bro
Thank You!
That’s why she said..ahhhh hahahahaha
i am licking my phone screen as he sliced the steak lol
It was very tasty!
I just don’t understand how you maintaine that heat? I’d be to scared to attempt this much quality of meat
Just keep an eye on internal temp and you’re good to go!
Damn i just watched killer hogs video on this steak...now I'm at yours...guess I need some of that seasoning
You definitely need to get some! Awesome stuff. Thanks for watching
@@501BBQ yesir! I prefer your way of cooking the steak because I don't like it rare. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Привет из России, будем пробовать так же по вашему рецепту.
How long did you cook this? How many hours?
Great video but i had to change playback speed to 1.25 hahaha
Didn’t even know you could do that haha. Thanks for watching
I would call it Swiss steak! With all those holes you made to it
Gotta tender it up!!! Thanks for watching
I am having extreme difficulties to stabilize at 300 degrees.Temps way higher above 400. Closed completely both vents.
Gotta start dialing it in once it hits about 225 so it doesn’t overshoot. Hard to bring down if it gets to hot
Put half the amount of charcoal in you have been using. Problem solved
He added some special seasoning at 0:40
Hawk Tuah😂
Tomorrow!!!
Wish I had one to cook!
It turned out great for a first attempt. Thank you for the informative video.
Awesome! No problem
What temp do you run at first?
It was around 275 if I recall correctly
No point putting that probe in if you’re gonna rotate it a few times. Just put it in 40 mins in or so
You are absolutely right but I like to show people the process of what the internal temps do. I very rarely use probes in my every day cooks
@@501BBQ fair enough. Great video
Thank you
My man did you drop it in the dirt??
No, grow up.
If you don't want the bone to burn
simple wrap it with aluminum foil
Just curious, doesn't anyone now how to cook a Tomahawk Ribeye in the oven and then broil it? I want to learn how to broil my steak properly.
My oven barely gets turned on so I’m not your guy. I’m sure someone has a video on it. But I’d bet it’s better on a grill! Good luck

fish fillet knife ???
The knife I used was a victorinox 6 inch boning knife
guttttttttttttttttttttt
How do you choose between grills? I noticed the PK in the background.
Why was this cook done on the weber ?
Thanks!
It had been a while since I cooked anything on the Weber. I had used the pk for a video right before this one.
Ur woods on fire,not smoking
To each there own give a dog a bone. I never cut the meat off because if you have a dog I believe it’s a waste.
I’m homeless I wish I had a steak like that
I know that tasted soooooo salty LMAO
Not really but salt is good!
Why would you ever trim the fat before cooking?
I barely even trimmed anything. But I’d rather trim what’s not edible beforehand than after
Got to love meat
That’s right 🔥🔥
