I know you don't hear this often...or maybe you do; but just in case you haven't heard it TODAY...SIS, you are BRILLIANT. And it's just like "us" to give away the game out of the goodness of our heart. I'm so proud of you.... I've been watching your journey for quite some time and I LOVE watching your vids (I'm not even a baker, chile) I just love your personality, professionalism, designs, ideas, and HEART. God Bless, Beloved. NEVER stop being you...THE MOST HIGH is BLESSING YOU, ABUNDANTLY. Now, let me go share this vid....
Based on how you broke it down I have been significantly shorting myself! I’m new to the business side and always stress about the math/money aspect. I think I might be using your chart to plug in my ingredients to get a proper return. Thank you for all your videos they are very helpful for a beginner like myself. Peace and blessings to you 💜
It’s a part of the process! It’s a new skill we have to learn and grow. Let me know if you have any questions about the cake pricing calculator. Happy this video is helpful!
That's amazing! I think alot of it is also location. What is reasonable where you live? We have a few cake decorator shops in my town. I am going to check them out and read their reviews. Also a good idea to join local farmers markets and have samples ready as well as the cakes. Good way to get business. Plus maybe you can trade goods with the other vendors at the end of the day. Happy baking !! 😊 🧁
I really love making cakes but if I had to make five a week, I don’t think I would like it as much. I like making cakes and earning extra income and keeping my 9-5 because I get benefits from the company that otherwise I would pay out of pocket.
This is amazing, I wish my mother had this before she passed. I think she was underpricing her cakes because she didn’t have these numbers and the “admin” portion of the business wasn’t where her passion was. Meanwhile I love this breakdown because it feeds the analytical part of my brain and helps me see the value of continuing my mothers work while still prioritizing my time. Thank you so much for this!
I have a 40/60 for simple cakes 3hr or less or 30/70 for intricate designs 4hr or more rule, baking & prep time included. For this cake: Cake $15+ Flowers+$15 including gas &(Walmart flowers $7.50 tops)+ Packaging $10=$40 Plus my paying myself $60. So I would charge $100. 30/70 would be appox, $40 plus $80=$120. You have to profit and pay yourself accordingly, believe me I've had these problems as well. But stick with your prices. All they can do is say no. Let your work shine and they will come. Shout out to The Station Bakery for all of your amazing tips! This is always the #1 question. It really depends on your area you live in as well. I live in a small town in the south, so the cost of living is lower vs city and upstate. I wish I was able to charge this much. Love your videos!
Thank you for this information! I’m a hobby baker but I’m getting a lot of requests now and pricing always stumps me. I did breakdown my supplies for a two tier and it was higher than I thought it would be. I make everything from scratch and don’t buy in bulk.
As a sufficient Baker my goal is to achieve more sales and use your strategies and tactics to excel and even create an online opportunity I have low bald myself due to customers believing the price is set too high, the time consistency the mixing the dipping the brand the shipping is not thought of. They only see the beauty and temptation of the item not the magic and exhaustion put into it😊. Thank you for the video again hoping to update soon on the change in prosperity from the lessons learned from this video. You're making your own honest living LOL 45 minutes ago you uploaded a video that helped answer a question I've been contemplating on ❤ love you for this! God bless the Fam Bam 💐
Thank you! Will definitely look into buying your spreadsheet. Avid baker, and would love to see more vendor events especially before we hit Christmas time
This is so new to me. I don't understand the unit amount, and I didn't understand the conversion calculator, sorry forvthe inconvenience, but I really need to learn this pricing sheet. Thank you
I’ve DEFINITELY been undercharging myself and I’m VERY detail oriented. If I feel something doesn’t look right I will trash it and start ALL OVER!! So I deserve MY WORTH. I’ve been doing this, off and on, with a full time job AT FIRST for at least 10 years, without watching UA-cam and other socials for advice. I am now a stay at home mom for the moment with my baby just turning 1. Not sure if I’m able to get back at the cakes full time but I’m gonna try. I’ve done a few orders here and there since she’s been in the world but baby girl is needy(it’s expected lol) and I’m not able to do as much as I could before. And we don’t want her in a daycare right now so going back working full time is not an option right now….Was looking for WFH jobs but I’ve watched ALL your videos from beginning to end and let me just say I just may be able to do this cake business FULL TIME!!! Especially with all the ideas and things I can do!!! Thank you soooo much!!
Wow! Yes ma’am!! Yes, take your time and enjoy your little one ❤️ don’t get consumed! So excited for you and glad you’re going to get back out there. 🙌🏽
I really like this calculator. Thank you for showing the breakdown of it. I found this very helpful. I think it is a good price. If I ever open a cake business, I will definitely get this calculator.
This is so helpful. Thank you for sharing. I see you have a Munbyn printer on your shelf. Do you use this printer for your business? If so, can you do a tutorial? I just purchased one, and I haven't quite figured it out yet.
Hi! You put in your own info. Although already having the basic ingredients in there is a great idea!! I’ll have to take some time to update that at some point.
Awesome video! I made a spreadsheet that includes the ingredients so I can factor how much it costs me to make treats but I really love how you break down factoring in the labor, shipping, delivery etc. 😊
You're spending $12 for a cake box? That seems really high. But don't you use those really tall boxes with handles? I would never be able to sell that cake in my area for that much, so would have to look for ways to cut the cost, and I think the box would be the first place I would start. I appreciate your showing how you break it down. The real key seems to be getting your recipes loaded into the calculator so then it is really fast to just choose it and get your price.
Yep, I used the tall box for this cake, but that’s not the proper box for that cake (just what I had on hand) so that cost would be significantly less. Also keep in mind as I mentioned in the beginning the numbers may be off for the privacy of my business and customers. But you are absolutely right, using my calculator lays the numbers out clearly so we can see where costs need to be cut and adjusted to make the numbers more affordable. That’s another one of the reasons why I love it so much!
I think you should charge what you think the cake is worth do do you know what kind of labor went into it and how much quality the cake is and if they don’t wanna pay it, then they can move on down the line. Period. Never feel embarrassed about how much you charge for a cake.
So.....this is how my side baking business is failing! I don't calculate nothing! I eyeball most everything! My mother asks me every time I do a cake........."Did you give this away for free too?" NO...mummy.........I just gave them a good discount!!!.........cause.....everyone should have a pretty cake...even if they poor. (But....their nails professionally done...and their hair...so are they poor?????) Note to self..........this makes you not profitable!! I need to do better. I will. One day. I suck as a business owner! Teach me your ways master!!
I love your channel! I think the price of this cake is reasonable. I think it's possible to generate $2000 a month for cakes, I just struggle with retaining clientele. I believe that my marketing strategy is off.
Ug me too, I’ve been doing this for so long and still feel like I can’t get clients. I started doing markets but that is so much work and it’s so hot where I live and I only made like $35 today. I’ll keep trying but it’s really getting discouraging some times.
If you own a bakery, you should understand storefront pricing and custom pricing are not the same. Because you operate at a higher volume than a custom home bakery, your prices can be lower. Also, people absolutely do pay this much and more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Laughing so hard at the amount of patience and strength I know she had to gather before responding to this comment diplomatically. How are you going to say what somebody will pay over a cake that has already been sold? Tell her her own life much?😂
@@TheStationBakery YOU don't have the overhead and expenses of operating a store, so you should charge less. I'm from Houston, and your prices are waaaay too high. I think you are making more money doing videos and really not selling many cakes.
so your making $37 dollars after all this hard work???!!! how is that even worth it??? it took you 5 hours??? im not getting it. or maybe its just random numbers? cuz i dont understand explain please. thank you
Hi! Great question! Yes, I mentioned in the beginning of the video that the numbers will be off to keep a level of privacy for my clients and business. 😅
This absolutely no hate to you just stating a fact and how bad America is and over priced. I just bought my wife a 3 tier red velvet cake with all edible flowers, leaves roses and chocolate on sticks. I paid less $36. Now this is in the Philippines so yes not the same but still America is insanely overpriced and half of it comes from over regulation and high taxes. No one should be paying 40% tax for a small business.
Hi!! There are some things I don’t charge for (it gets covered through the various ways I’ve diversified my income). Electricity, water, portion of mortgage etc. Would all be covered under overhead fees. I don’t stress myself over pricing out one use materials like paper towels etc any more. That can be factored into overheads or even just pulled from profit.
You’re right about the Walmart people. There is however other people that will pay this price and more. Walmart people aren’t the target audience in this instance 🤷🏽♀️
I’ve sold similar cakes at this price and more. People will definitely pay if you know your market. There’s also people who surely won’t and love them a Walmart cake. But it’s not true for everyone.

Can your cake pricing guide be used for cookies, cupcakes, breads, and other desserts? I really like the drop down options. So much easier.

Can you please give some online conversation calculator (convert units). Please, Thank you

I know you call it a cake pricing program, but can it be used for anything? I would love something like this for my catering business
Yes, you could use it for your catering business! Build out dishes and create packages! If you need help or have any other questions let me know!

Same concept for cupcakes ? Thank you
Yes, if selling individually I would divide the total by the number of cupcakes in a batch. I use it to process my mini cakes.
