  • Columbia Professor Jeff Sachs will address the Ukraine war, the Israel-Palestinian war, the dollar as the world’s reserve currency, the nation’s burgeoning debt and the role the US military in the pandemic.
Sachs recently testified with Ray McGovern before the United Nations on the Ukraine War. He sees Russia’s fear of NATO expansion as rational and the principal factor in the outbreak of the war. What are the consequences of the US continuing to be NATO’s principal financier? Should the United States withdraw from NATO?
Sachs will explain the role of the dollar as the world's reserve currency. How does our exorbitant privilege allow the United States to finance our militarized foreign policy to the tune of $1.5 trillion annually? Would the American people accept the tax increases needed to finance our imperial spending on a pay-as-you-go basis?
In 2023, we are seeing a massive long-term increase in government borrowing -- estimated at $2-3 trillion a year by the CBO for the next 10 years. Sachs will address whether massive money printing will likely be needed to finance that debt. Is that level of borrowing and printing sustainable and, if not, what will happen to the economy?
The US military played a larger role in the pandemic than is commonly known. Sachs headed a panel of physicians sponsored by the Lancet investigating the origins of the Covid 19 virus.
Jeffrey Sachs is Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, where he directed the Earth Institute from 2002 until 2016. He is also President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and a commissioner of the UN Broadband Commission for Development. He has been advisor to three United Nations Secretaries-General, and currently serves as an SDG Advocate under Secretary General António Guterres. He spent over twenty years as a professor at Harvard University, where he received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. He has authored numerous bestseller books. His most recent book is The Ages of Globalization: Geography, Technology, and Institutions (2020). Sachs was twice named as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential world leaders and was ranked by The Economist among the top three most influential living economists.

Fraud, abuse of the public used as guinea pigs, ongoing lies, cover ups, corruption of media - which wouldn't have been hard, total indifference to public safety. So is it true only 3% are taking a 5th dose of the horrible thing?

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, "as our circle of knowledge expands, so does the circumference of darkness surrounding it." In other words, in expanding our awareness, we just expose our ignorance. The more we come to know, the more we realise we do not know. I think this quote is scary.....but I also think it is thought provoking....and I think that thinking about it enough can sharpen the senses....as if ready for anything armed with a faith in the goodness of God. In fact this quote is sorta like a drug.....perhaps testimony to the power of a mental image....someone will try to steal it from me.....they all want what we have. How does it feel to want? Anyway......yes we shouldn't have unmonitored bio labs making bioweapons.....gain of function crap. How could that possibly benefit humanity? I am sure there are many humanitarian endeavors that can be embarked upon rather than developing strains of things that are nothing but dangerous to people....of course it helps if one does not constantly suspect that others are trying to kill him or her or them or us...lol, quite insane actually which is why we hoped there would be adults in the room capable of securing a stable Earth for future generations etc. All basic shit. Thx, take care.

I'd have only one question for prof. Sachsovich - What would exactly be the problem of Nato at the Russian border (which already exists anyway), except that it stops Russia from expanding? Could anyone imagine NATO attacking Russia in any plausible scenario, ever? I agree on the critique of the USA in almost every way, but I don't hear him saying one bad word about Putin and that leads me to conclusions.

The video quality and reach of this video reflects what has become the placement of common sence Isenhower like know how and competency today in American Foreign policy
Unfortunately too many of my illiterate unaware and unexceptional countrymen with a multitude of degrees and little education are too dim and unaware of the consequences of ignorance and greed coupled with no regard for civic duty in time of peril

Isn't another use of weapons that they are also sometimes needed and used to maintain a threat level? Dealing with some characters don't you need to do that, or they will roll in and take you over? How much peace has been maintained by the threat of war?
