The story of the day Todd comforted Bojack and ended up a permanent resident of his house hits different when you realize that it was the morning after Bojack's dad died.
Remember how Bojack was the only one who saw Vincent Adultman for what he really was? And at the Halloween party, he’s the only one who got Dianes Baby Bjorn Borg costume.
Love how you can always tell what year they Switch to without them doing obvious cuts. Based on the light color used for each of the parties, costumes, and dialogue. Really makes the episode flow incredibly well.
1993 (Pickles's birth year) was the first Halloween party. This one was Mr. PB and Katrina. 2004 was the party with Jessica Biel and 13 yr old Todd. 2009 was Mr. PB and Diane when Bojack finds out his dad died and Todd crashes on the couch. 2018 is the party with Mr. PB and Pickles (now 25).
I'm glad to see your appreciation for Diane, her character development is phenomenal. All throughout the series, realizing what she wants and doesn't want and other things as well
PB is a dog though I never liked Diane's approach to their relationship it's clear PB is simple and emotional he doesn't overthink or analyze how his partner feels Diane was always trying to act like an extrovert and put a face on or change PB from who he is to make her dysfunction work
@GraffitiTurtle okay let's talk then it's more than clear who PB is and the fact that Diane was so stubborn as to try and change everything about PB to fit her needs is selfish she always acts like the world needs to conform to her introvert self but at the end of the show we see that she's learned not to try and control her new boyfriend or pretending to be things she's not for example how she handles her depression instead of taking care of Herself she would rather cause problems because of her own vanity because her anti depressants cause her to gain weight your wrong man PB is a good guy and if he met pickles before all his wives he wouldn't have four exes
It was interesting that the trauma that was caused in Mr. PBs relationships changed the women but that trauma didn't change Mr PB. Lol that stuff could be analyzed endlessly.
I really like this episode, I love Diane's talk with Pickles. From Mr PBs in real life I suspected it'd be like this & it was good to see an episode about it, Diane was so often the adult in the room with him and now she doesn't question herself about it any longer. But seeing PC in the same costume that gets more worn is so sad, it's like she's been running in place all that time :(
I love that Diane pointed to the value that Mr. Peanutbutter brought to her life instead of dwelling on the negative. Being the rebound, but also having it be a 10 year relationship that she doesn't regret. Their marriage didn't fail, it just ended. So PB and Pickles have their flaws, but that doesn't necessarily mean their relationship is not worth pursuing. It's just important to recognize and work on those flaws.
@@partycitydumpster I loved that she did that, it was so thoughtful! Maybe those things are easier to see in hindsight too. Yeah the show seems to understand that but also shows in a v realistic way how they're in different phases in life, it's just lovely
@GraffitiTurtle idk the episode points out clearly he's immature that's why he prefers somebody like him hence a younger person I don't really feel like a 25 year old dating an older man is creepy though that's old enough to make decisions 18 would be weird
@@tyruswillier7358 Nobody ever claimed that his girlfriends weren’t consenting adults. PB’s pattern of behavior makes people uncomfortable because he refuses to change. He’s going to keep doing the same thing until he’s an 80 year old dating a 25 year old because he’s not attracted to anyone more mature than that.
@@artistfloor9 sure I get that now thanks for the explanation that's was pretty good I agree he shouldn't continue that behavior I dont like it but I don't think it's entirely his fault I think all his wives have displayed moments where they pretend to be just like PB only to blow up on him when he doesn't recognize their discomfort in public or a lack of understanding in general PB is flawed but I don't think people should act like he's ruined all their lives or he's the sole problem a relationship takes two people it's up to both of them to create a relationship they both like
A year later but I just wanna say I love how you two always got how PB was really flawed too. I feel like with each girlfriend he did change a lot for them after Katrina he was worried about sudden quick mood changes where she surprise snaps on him then ‘just kidding’: he mimics that and adopts the language at later parties he goes to other people saying (blank!! Haha just kidding I know!!) After wearing the wrong notebook costume he starts repeating the really long complex phrases involving multiple names word play and shows. Which while multiple hollywood stars talk like that in the show Mr.Peanut butter is still in his early years and doesn’t automatically talk in that business pattern. His take away from her talk was only notebook but afterwards he does attempt to listen to the entire idea and match it accordingly (Diane wants a belle-room and he got it wrong so he did everything to get it to be perfect because imagine how upset she would be if he’s wrong like Jessica was) Once he’s with Diane he has a hard time changing from this more professional/charming/can’t make a mistake in the relationship guy. To someone who has to not try to be as grandiose over the top show-star and spotlight holder/perfect listener into being someone who’s down to earth clam and listens without immediately reacting or fixing things that are okay into being idealized perfection. (The biscuit warmer is another thing in a perfect idealized kitchen but it’s not gonna be used it’s gonna sit there as part of the one/thousand luxury options with new models and replacements that don’t get used. Make them together when you’re hungry on a random day when things are slow and you can’t sit and enjoy them. With Mr.Peanutbutter those moments sound fantastic but there’s never free time and the house is never empty or theirs it’s holding a production 24/7 for his reality tv show then he has a game show and campaigns etc he doesn’t stop working and commuting to his obligations.) He doesn’t like messing up and goes over the top and out of his way not to do so. He can’t figure out how to listen to what his ex girlfriends and wives wanted him to do better and he did change to be better over time but it wasn’t in the ways they needed in the moment even if he was trying. When he dated pickles he rushed into it unsure how to move and how to act as a good boyfriend. He was conflicted about being accurate when he’s starting to be outdated and concerned over appearances, social etiquette and how the party goers and others might watch his relationship. Their costume is something he never comes up with but always tries to roll and matches and in this he lets her dress him exactly correct to something that makes sense to her even if he doesn’t get it (unlike the baby Bjorne borg) She’s social media savy and makes most of the options as theyre fan favorites and mr.peanut butter understands doing the viewers choice when cameras are rolling. He keeps over analyzing how the party might go wrong or not be fun or what he should be doing to be the perfect boyfriend/partygoer. When he sees pickles shout ‘I’m having fun this is fun it’s a party! Etc’ he understands he hasn’t been listening or in the moment and messed up again. He also sees how she’s doing what he usually does going with the general idea and making it fantastic and enjoyable. (He use to think party’s are fun we run around say hi to people get drinks dance fun party! It’s Halloween themed but it’s random who knows but it’s the idea of having fun so you’ll make it fun. But he’s totally disconected from that in this party he’s not trying to actively have fun and participate as a party he’s trying to work and be good not enjoy a moment.) I felt it showed alot of change and listening and altho it was messed up and sad made sense why things weren’t working. He was always trying to learn new tricks to be a good boy/boyfriend and do what was right but he struggles to keep things separated in his life similar to bojack he just has an optimistic perspective. He still has issues and faces problems and I think him as a depression sponsor has some merit as he’s definitely been alive and had issues and struggles. A lot of publicized flops and successes with a lot of branding and enjoying being a good representative of things he struggles to take time to slow down and enjoy things as they are for a significant time. He’s constantly in a rush and as a side character is on off screen constantly running around having to be working on multiple projects at once
