I am a 58 year old female, 11-13 handicap, and have been playing a set of PXG 0311P Gen 5, Project X Cypher 50i shafts (A flex) for a few months now (dad ordered them for himself and did not like them). I must say, I love the feel of the clubs! I am hitting my 6 iron 165-180 yards consistently with great control. Never thought I would be able to truly "feel" a club as it strikes the ball. Just picked up an A wedge from PXG to complete my set.

I'm a 5 handicap and have owned PXG Gen 1 & most recently Gen 3 irons and have always loved them. I had plans to get the Gen6 next season when they'd likely then be replaced by something new and as a result be priced reduced, but the deal killer for me was that ridge along the sole of the club. It's enough to be cleaning grooves after each shot, but now having to clean that groove along the bottom was too much maintenance for me. Others I know that now own then have dirt and grass in them constantly (something not obvious when getting fitted off a mat in the store!). I just recently took delivery of the new Titleist T150s (blended to T200 in 6 & 5 iron) and after a couple rounds am already in love! The narrow sole and fairly small head at first intimidated me, but I consistently striped them during fitting, so the technology in them is very impressive. My 1st set of Titleist irons and I could not be more excited!

I currently play the Takomo 101, I do leave the 4i at home though, I very much prefer my Ping 425 7w. The Takomo's have given me shot length, consistency (i.e. forgivemess) and feel. This is something that, as a new golfer, I struggle to wrap my head around. When picking my first set of clubs I did a lot of research about what clubs were suitable. A lot would be considered to hard for me to use, but my thought there is as I improve, why would I want to upgrade to a set of clubs that are harder to hit?
Why would anyone want to make a difficult game harder by using clubs that are much less forgiving? I know there’s the workability argument, but that surely exists in most clubs bar something extremely GI like the Wilson Launch Pads, which is basically a full set of hybrids. There’s the classic story about the Rickie Fowler blades, even he didn’t game them for long because of how hard they were to hit, what’s the point in that? Just get a set of irons that gap well for you and are easy to hit how you want! 😅

@@reczyyou are absolutly right but there is a difference between a blade and a game improving irons like presented in the videos. A lot of tour players are now going back to irons woth a little more forgivness than blades like t100 from titleist because the feel is close enough for them. I play around a 10-12 handicap and I’m gaming the X2 Hot Pro irons from 2014. I am always tempted to upgrade, but they are very forgiving and still have all the “player” attributes that im seeing in modern day sets. $800? T200s are $1400 new. I'm playing 2014 ap2 and the only reason I'm in the market is because I want +1" with a lightened head to correct the swing weight. If my clubs fit me I'd keep them and it sounds like you should keep yours

Currently a 10 handicap. I have improved by quite a bit over the last 5 years but while initial score drop was due to new irons/woods/driver/putter (fitted for all, biggest improvement, Driver, then wedge/putting), most is due to practice/rounds played. I have played Titleist Ap1's for last 8 years or so. I do love them, BUT, as long as another iron is close to my needs in lie/stiffness/length, I can hit them ok regardless of brand. Big improvement over previous 30 year old set but my serious drop in strokes was from wedge play and putting. A putter fitting made a huge improvement. My advice as a mid handi is: 1) get lessons (I am self-taught but saw huge improvement for my wife post lessons) 2) get fitted (don't let fitter tell you brand so there is no bias, go by numbers) 3) Practice of grass at range. Learn you true distance per club. Just because you hit a ball "x" distance once doesn't mean you do it every time. 4) Play

Enjoyed the video as always. I play of 14 handicap and this is my second year of taking up golf again (played a bit when I was a kid but stopped when I got into my teens). When I went to get fitted into a set of irons the t200s was certainly a contender, I didn't like the p790s at all and I still have a hard time explaining why tbh. But after I tried the Mizuno 923 forged something just clicked and I'm still very happy with my choice.

I would be cautious when purchasing the Titleist T200 irons as I have owned them from new since August 2023 and the plastic backing (back of the club head) has come off on the 7 iron. Seems to be a problem Titleist are having with them. Also the cheap plastic that they have glued to the back fades dramatically and quickly making them look really worn and cheap within a few months. I'm in the process of returning mine which is unfortunate as they do perform very well.

I don't know what my handicap is, but this is my second year playing sociably with friends. My first year I picked up a cheap second hand set of old Titleist DTR, I didn't want to spend much in case I didn't like them or didn't play golf much. This year I have played more and decided to invest in some new clubs. Having watched a load of youtube videos, I decided a couple of weeks ago to get the new Titleist T200's. I can only compare them to the old cheap set I had previously, but they play like a dream, even if I am still not that great lol.

34 years old 10 handicap here, hit a good distance but like you said, miss a little bit too much shots in a round. Really improve this year. I have T300 for the moment but it is not a good club for me, at least not anymore. I got fitted for a combine set T150 (6-PW) T200 (4-5). Will be in the bag before the next season. Really enjoyed this video for my skill level!

I tried the T200 and just didn't like the inconsistent distance. Every once in a while I'd nuke one 20+ yards longer, while the T100 were bang on every time. Still it's a great video, thanks!

I started the year as about a 20 handicap, but have been steadily making progress. I'm currently playing at about a 12-14 handicap level. I'm using a set of hand-me-down Mizuno MP-30 irons. When I hit them well, they feel great, but when I have a bad swing, I miss then so badly that no club is going to save it. I recently used some impact tape to see where I am striking the irons, and I consistently hit every ball on the heel side of center, with an occasional shank. If I can move the hits over to the center of the club, and also get rid of my fat hits, my current irons will be fine. I suppose that an iron with more aggressive lofts might be a help as I tend to hit my irons very high, handy for hitting over trees, but not helpful in high winds.

Hey, I'm a 7.0 handicap now(was 9.1), switched from 2018 790s to PXG Gen5 0211 last year and love the fact that any bad shots are my fault vs the club and they are half the price of 0311. Would love to see a quick video of 0311 vs 0211 from your perspective of the type of golfer for each. The 0211, in my opinion has hole in one's and par golf in it for about $100 a club fitted and shipped.

They give me great distance and the ball gets in the air for stopping power. The dispersion was tighter for me and playing in the PNW it’s wet so the microgrooves and hydra pearl finish really helps. Pete .. I learned golf in the early 1980’s with my dads old Wilson clubs I became an 8 handicap… and then quit for twenty yrs … I took it up about 3yrs ago ,with trying out a new set of callaway rouge “improvement clubs” omg I would normally with a good 9 iron hit about -150 … with the new clubs 170 .. crazy I had absolutely no feel … I don’t like the new degrees or the light weight of the clubs .. I traded those in and bought Taylor p790s and put a ton of lead tape on them … it’s the closest thing to the old clubs I think without getting fitted.. which I really should do … great video.. thanks 👍

I have found significant consistency in yardage and accuracy, which has allowed me to lower my handicap this season. I have absolutely LOVED the irons!! Did not test the PXG irons, they need a bigger retail presence but seem moving in that direction. Have been trying new model irons each year for 6+ yrs. This time finally saw a marked improvement (10 yds+) over prior set. Forgiveness with accuracy is wonderful. I was leaning hard towards new T200 irons then those 790's have entered the frame but dropping a large amount of coin on a set is a tough pill to swallow so I've also been leaning towards Sub70 seeing the HQ is just over 2 hours north of me making getting fit for a set just as easy as any other brands.
