I became a fan in 1991, Absolutely 🤘 and 10 years for a studio album with a Derek Riggs art work finally back on it. Sadly though I think this may be the last though. But we have had a few single covers in the past, I WISH he would come back.
@@metalmark1214 for me, it’s up there too. I actually find Senjutsu is just as good. I think BNW gets extra points in peoples mind because of Bruce’s and Adrian’s return.
It is simply night and day difference between Virtual XI and Brave New World. I was literally crying tears of joy when I heard this single. The dark days of Maiden were gone for the time being. This is the last Maiden studio album that I can listen to beginning to end. My 2 favorites are Nomad and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate. The latter is a top 5 for me.
Just remember some of the songs from the newer material are growers and could take 5 to 10 listens before they really sink in before you become thoroughly wowed. Most songs on this album are first-time-listens though 😀
Same. I was playing Gran turismo 2 on PlayStation, those races that took several hours to complete and listened this and The Chemical wedding one after another. Good times
Hurm, it's good you didn't skip 90's Maiden and the last two albums. That would be like erasing history, which isn't cool. And it just makes us appreciate 21st century Maiden all the more, which is fantastic. We have Adrian out of the gate on this one! Can't wait for more. Cheers!
There's no bad song on this album, that's for sure! But my favorites on this is Brave new World, The Nomad, Dream of Mirrors and The Thin Line Between love and hate!
FINALLY we're here! With Adrian returning, we now we have 3 lead guitarists and the 'human air raid siren' is also back with a vengeance. When you do check out the Rock in Rio live performances, the concert starts with this track and man, does it start with a bang. I'm also stoked that you are also now delving into Judas Priests catalogue as you're discovering another one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time, Rob Halford 🤘😁.
Your smile from the very beginning of the song before Bruce even sang a note reminds me of when i was a kid and they reformed and dropped this album and how happy I was. Still one of my favourite IM music videos to date.
Great reaction!!! Welcome back Bruce AND Adrian. As a life long Maiden fan, the next albums are all fun. Check out this song Live in Rock in Rio!!! Opening song of the concert. Epic start to a great show in front of 250,000 fans. Enjoy and Up the Irons!!!

not only are the songs way better on this album over the 90s stuff, but the production quality takes an obvious step up as well. the guitars and drums just seem so much more full. My favorite songs on this Album other than wicker man are Ghost of the Navigator and Blood Brothers but honestly every minute of this album is great. With Adrian back, we get alot of those somewhere in time/seventh son type vibes that were missing for 10 years.
This is an excellent album!🤘 I saw them for this tour. It was one of my favorite concerts. With Queensryche and Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Excellent show.
There’s no comparison my guy! This is straight up in your face heavy metal. Amazing opener for an album. Glad you’ve decided to go Rock in Rio after Brave New World, I think you’ll really appreciate it. You’ll appreciate the Blaze songs more as well! Hope you enjoy the rest of the album!!🤘🏻

My fav of this album is Brave New World. What an amazing song!
My favorite reaction. Mr. Hurm, if you hadn’t have been so faithful to Maiden as you were, if you had just skipped over Blaze’s era, you wouldn’t have the perspective of the Iron Maiden fan that I know you truly are. Plus, you showed respect and courtesy to Blaze Bayley, who, by all accounts, is a nice chap who had an impossible job, but he put all of his heart and soul into Maiden, and that’s what Maiden DO. He’ll always be part of the Maiden family. And now that you DO possess that perspective, you get the rich reward of feeling the elation of seeing the return of the kings. To have Bruce and Adrian both back was my happiest moment as an Iron Maiden fan, and after all of these years, which seem to have flown by rapidly since they came back in ‘99, I still breathe a sigh of relief that Adrian came back with Bruce. Adrian‘s departure was devastating to the band’s chemistry and sound. My only regret in this era is that Kevin Shirley is producing and not Martin Birch. The production on this era of albums would’ve been so much better, and the albums markedly better than they already are. Up the Irons, baby.
The tour for this album was epic, saw them twice on this tour, glad it was recorded at Rock in Rio. This album, ghost of the navigator, blood brothers, dream of mirrors and the nomad are favs, whole album enjoyed though. I was listening to Virtual XI for a few years before BNW, with albums they say there are growers that grow on you, VXI is one that tired over time. BNW drooping was like night and day.
Christmas Day has come early. The opening riff is actually an old one first heard in a magic illusion on Bruce’s last concert before he left back in 1993.
Hey there Hurm1t . Watched you listen to song. It brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it 22 years ago. It's a beautiful composition. Looked like it took you to a peaceful place too. The next one's awesome also. (in my opinion) enjoy
I can’t believe this album is 22 years old it doesn’t seem to minutes ago when I went down to HMV music store to buy it 29 May 2000 & was listening to it with my grandad bless him my favourites on the Album is The Wickerman The Ghost Of The Navigator Brave New World BLOOD BROTHERS 👍👍The Mercenary THE FALLEN ANGEL👍👍 The Nomad and The Thin Line Between Love & Hate out of the last 6 albums this is my number 2 👍👍
Just listened to the album the other day because I knew you was reacting to it and it has stood the test of time it still ROCKS today as it did back then I think I saw maiden 6 times on the Brave New World Tour
I don't know if anybody else has suggested this to you, but please watch Bruce singing, Sign of the cross, The Clansman and Lord of the Flies live, what an improvement.
This was a great deal back then. Watch the official video clip too and just for fun, there was a radio edit (or alternate version) with a different chorus: ua-cam.com/video/4dfDkxHtT9I/v-deo.html They decided to use the version what we hear on the album obviously in the end.
I'm not sure about the "Thy will be done" part of the chorus but "Burn on the sun" and "Don't turn, don't run" are super cool and I wish they were included on the album version.
Bruce layers his voice on the pre chorus and the chorus. Not the verse. Already… a min in and there is more production value with the vocals then on both of the Blaze albums combined.
Well, Bruce and Adrian are back. So what are you talking about Hurm? lol. Now you believe me as to why I skipped the Blaze era Maiden. This is a good song, not the best of the album, but still good. The 1973 British film The Wickerman, starring Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward, should be mentioned as the original source of inspiration for both the song and the video. This film was made in various versions and remains nowadays a cult film for the fans of the genre. The lyrics seem to highlight the general apathy of our modern society and our egoistic disinterest in what is happening in the world until something actually happens to us and we get "knocked to our feet". Watching "the world explode every single night" refers probably to those who watch the evening news and who have an overload of grisly images of wars and sufferings, and who become gradually de-sensitized and de-humanized. I know you'll do it, but don't forget Judgement Day.
This is one of my all time favorite records. If I had to pick three favorite songs from it, they would be Out of the Silent Planet, The title track, and Ghost of the Navigator.
Dream of mirrors is a real deep cut but an amazing song, especially live. You will love the Rock in Rio concert footage of every song. The Blaze era ones will come to life and you will appreciate them in a new way, especially The Clansman.
HURM1T check out the rare US Radio promo version of The Wickerman on UA-cam. They add a little spice to it. I think it's better than the album version. They couldn't reproduce it live, you'll see why
And the solo and riffs by adrian smith. He is so meticulous and artistic. Great album great reaction i love the B side best in this album but each song is great. A hint: 2000 era albums close with epic songs.
Oh baby! One of my favorite albums. It's so good. The live album Rock in Rio, featuring a lot of songs from this album is the 2nd BEST live album I've ever heard. 1st is Scream for Me Brazil, featuring Bruce and some of his best songs.
As much as I think the Blaze era is underrated, man it's still good to have Bruce back! This album especially, is actually my favorite Iron Maiden album, all these songs are amazing, Bruce sounds better than ever, riffs are killer, the emotion in some of these songs are outstanding, and can't forget the cool solos. 🤟
Besides being a great album, the cover with Eddie’s giant, grinning face looming over London is one of my favourites. This album also is also special to me because I got to see them live for the first time, coincidentally at Brixton London a year or so later 🤘
If you do Blaze then start with Ghost in the Machine from Silicon Messiah album. It is the first song on his first solo album. You will want to react to all of this album I'm sure ;) The Wicker Man is the second Maiden song I hear after TNotB. In 2001. Been a fan since. In 2008 metal festival they opened with this and it was awesome. It wasn't even certain they could play at all, there was a huge storm. The other main stage was destroyed and one person died. Warm-up bands didn't play, we had to wait extra time in uncertainty. Then hearing this...you just knew it would be an awesome show. Out of the Silent planet was the last song I listened before driving off to serve in the army so it has a special place in my heart. Dream of Mirrors is a song I was blasting and my brother asked what song is this!? He became a fan and we've seen 10+ Maiden shows together. Blood Brothers is amazing and very cool on shows with my brother and best friend. The Nomad is very cool song with nice groove and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate is just beautiful with terrific solos.
welcome to the 3 guitar version of Iron Maiden, as well as Adrian back on guitar, he also returned on backing vocals, which makes a difference as the albums without him just have Steve Harris on backing vocals and with all due respect singing isn't his strong point. On the Album cover there was another returnee as the upper half of the artwork was created by Derek Riggs who did all the album covers from Iron Maiden to No Prayer and the bottom half by digital artist Steve Stone.
Great album hurm, rock in rio tho. Hands down the best live show u will ever witness. It will blow ur mind. Even sign of the cross, that u hate 🤣 it's a masterpiece. Enjoy hurm, u deserve it 🤘🥰🤘
Braze era have good melodies and good songs. Unfortunately was a huge pity that both records didn’t have a good production. And maybe the songs was better recorder in a different key (the ones settled for Blaze). But now we are in Brave new World. Bruce and Adrian came back with a new producer, Kevin, who brought new sound to Maiden. And more import, from this record until today, there are 3 guitarist. It means 3 different solos in almost every songs.
Love this album, really good songs but I suggest you also take a look at the live version from Rock in Rio 2001. The performance is just incredible for songs like Dream of Mirrors, Ghost of the Navigator, Blood Brothers, Brave New World. Keep going!
You will realize when you listen to X Factor again in a future that they actually have at least 5 or 6 great songs. It depends on taste as well, but they do get much better when you start to appreciate every part of each song
Favourite Tracks - Ghost of Navigator, Nomad, & Thin Line Between Love & Hate. But there’s not a weak song on this Album. One of their best and most consistent albums. Every song at least a 7/10 with most scoring higher than that for me. Loved your reaction to this and I felt similar, much as I like some of Blaze Bayley stuff, THIS is different gravy.
You couldn't stop smiling, that says it all. Nothing wrong with liking some of the Blaze era songs but BNW is on a completely different level. Love this album, hard to pick a favorite. Perhaps Dream of Mirrors. Or Blood Brothers which is very melodic and emotional.
'The Wicker man' (based on the movie of the same name... recently re-made w/ Nicholas Cage) ...was Adrian Smith's contribution. He said in 1999, he & Bruce Dickinson got into talks about reuniting w/ Iron Maiden... Steve Harris was still hesitant; he reluctantly agreed to let Blaze Bayley go, but a reunion was a tough sell. The other issue was guitarist Janick Gers - he offered to leave if Adrian was coming back, but Harris said, 'No.' Then, they discussed making Iron Maiden a 3-guitar band like Lynyrd Skynyrd for the first time. According to Adrian, he showed up at a rehearsal and quickly realized that Dave Murray & Janick Gers were doing the dual-lead partnership, and he couldn't return to the same role he had done in Maiden... so he decided to take the middle and concentrate on the rhythms, which he was more comfortable with, filling the sounds between the 2 lead guitars... He was also surprised that he and Janick got along so well (Adrian and Dave had been friends since school and had played together in bands prior to Maiden)... At rehearsals, they asked around, "Anybody got any new tunes?" And Adrian said, "Well, I got this riff..." and played them what became 'The Wicker man'. The reaction to 'Brave new world' in 2000 was immediate... the album went up to #39 on the US charts and sold 300K copies... In comparison, the 'Virtual XI' album in 1998 w/ Blaze Bayley only reached #124 on the US charts and sold less than 100K copies. Blaze Bayley thanked Iron Maiden on his 2000 solo album 'Silicon Messiah'... his debut solo album was produced by Andy Sneap (who would go on to work w/ Megadeth, Judas Priest and other major metal bands) and Blaze wrote all the lyrics for that record. It was a good heavy metal album...much better suited for his vocal style, but sadly, it was not a commercial success.
I was so glad when this came out. The only thing they should have also done is NOT keep Janick Gers. No need for 3 guitarists. Too muddy and busy. And, Janick plays all of Adrian's solos in concert from the old songs. Never Dave Murray's. Bugs me. Anyway, better than the previous 2 albums by a wide margin.
He doesn't use double bass on this album, there's only one song in entire Maiden catalogue where he uses double bass and that's 'Face in the Sand' from Dance of Death album.
@@baptistefall7131 did you get my last comment because it doesn't show up on this thread if not logged on. I sent a youtube link where he says it's only one pedal. and whoever gave you a thumbs up doesn't know either. So I repeat there's no double bass or double pedal on this song.

My favorite on this album is Ghost of the Navigator
You couldn't stop smiling, that says it all. Nothing wrong with liking some of the Blaze era songs but BNW is on a completely different level.
Love this album, hard to pick a favorite. Perhaps Dream of Mirrors. Or Blood Brothers which is very melodic and emotional.
Keep in mind that Nicko uses only one pedal. That is just mind blowing.
Herm, you should to check Rock in Rio version. Just now!. We really waiting for it! You are great!
I love your videos, but I love Blood Brothers more. I heard it live not even a month ago and they NAILED it!
Mate! Don't forget albums like:
Powerslave
Somewhere in time
Seventh Son of A SeventhSon
Piece Of Mind
Its the golden years dude!
He's done every song from every album up to this song.
@@off1k yeah I did see videos from Iron Maiden and Killers. But after that

he had to change his channel, I think copyright strikes, he's still uploading the rest.
I was flagged for supporting criminal organizations on the old channel but yes all the reactions are being brought over slowly but surely lol
@@Hurm1t no worries :) 😀
It's Bruce Dickinson!!!
Yeeaahhh
Every song is good on this album, just like Chemical Wedding.
Mr smith guitar solo mate
Yo yo, where's Accident of birth
Still the best album after reniojning Bruce!
Still think you didn't give sign of the cross a fair shake bro lol. Came into expecting to hate it.
Welcome back lol
Rock in Rio was the best live show that was ever staged by any band ever Period.
Watch the whole show dude
@@stevored1989 I was talking about Iron Maiden and Blaze Bayley... Why do u insist on going off-topic?
@@sumonjamal1653 Oops this should have been on a Judas Preist reaction not sure how it got here
I was so glad when this came out.
They probably didn't want to fire Janick. I know they did that to Blaze but I feel the cirucumstances were different.
Janick has written/co-written a lot of great songs in the reunion era. He also gives a lot of energy on stage so I disagree
@@ironlurker - name one song that he has written which you think is "great".
@@benjaminrowlett6960 Dance of Death, The Book of Souls, Ghost of the Navigator, Stratego, The Legacy, Be Quick of Be Dead, Man on the Edge...
Nicko on double bass drum (on the chorus) lol.. i hate this album, and all at today ! Just cliches on cliches ...
He doesn't use double bass on this album, there's only one song in entire Maiden catalogue where he uses double bass and that's 'Face in the Sand' from Dance of Death album.
@@off1k no, i'm drummer, he use an double pedal on the chorus (y) (Nicko confirm this on Modern drummer)

Nicko talking about Wicker Man and metronome, watch till the end only 2 mins
@@baptistefall7131 did you get my last comment because it doesn't show up on this thread if not logged on.
I sent a youtube link where he says it's only one pedal.
and whoever gave you a thumbs up doesn't know either.
So I repeat there's no double bass or double pedal on this song.
