soyeon (the rapper in lion) is their leader and she writes most of their songs. she is also the one who produces all of their albums and concepts and she kind of does more for this group than their actual company. she is an amazing rapper and honestly one of the best female rappers in kpop, she's just AMAZING.
“Who put this together” literally them😭😭😭. Love these girls, the leader Soyeon is also the creative producer for the group along with being the main producer and the other girls produce as well.
btw Soyeon, the main rapper and leader of the group, also writes, composes and produces their songs, she also comes up with the video concepts. They are one of the very few self produced kpop groups, Soyeon also writes and composes for other groups, and Minnie(girl with the curly hair) and yuqi(girl with pink hair) also write and compose for the group.
Most of their recent comebacks have been absolutely amazing (Super Lady, Nxde, Wife, etc) but I also big recommend seeing live performances with Soyeon. Often idols have a persona for the music videos but Soyeon is phenomenal for how young she is and maintains that bravado outside of the music too. She’s also the one who comes up with the concepts and songs, and directs the girls vocally. She’s truly something else in Kpop.
9:31 it's written on the screen, the girl said "Ab imo pectore", it's in latin and it means "from the bottom my heart", "with deepest affection" or "sincerely"
you may notice that in older music videos the group has six members but now has 5. that's bc former member Soojin got wrapped up in a bullying allegations (which were later proven false) and left the group. the company that the girls are under did barley anything to help soojin when all this was happening, but since then (G)-IDLE has found was to honor soojin and remeber her via lyrics and music video visuals. Soojin has left cube and debuted as a soloist
Gidle are my favourite group. Soyeon (the main rapper) is the GOAT. So multi talented. sings raps produces. She produces everything that Gidle put out, even since debut. You should watch some of the behind the scene recordings to really grasp how meticulous she is when it comes to how the group deliver their lines. I could talk so much more about them but i'll leave it there lmao Also theres this channel called dingo music where Kpop groups do live vocals. Gidle among some other groups have been on there. Btw pink hair girl in Tomboy is Yuqi (my wife lol)
You asked who put this all together? Soyeon, the leader! She's the one with orange hair in Klaxon. She writes, composes, produces, and directs 90% of their stuff. Two other members also regularly write/compose/produce, so it's a very unique group. It's also pretty diverse, since they have two Korean members (they had three, but one was kicked out in a scandal that turned out to be false...), one Thai, one Chinese and one Taiwanese member.
Your right Klaxon was released as a summer song, and it does mean honk your horn. I love gidle! They are the most creative and imaginative gg in the business. More gidle, please react to their mv's NXDE, UH 0H, and HWAA.
The rapper, Soyeon, writes and produces all of their songs, and even controls things down to what outfits they wear, the set they record in and even the NAILS they wear. she is definitely the mastermind behind it all lol. the best recording behind the scenes is the nxde recording and the super lady recording! she’s an amazing producer and it’s so cool to see her methods! she got all of the girls different voice couches so that they didn’t get rid of their unique voices, and when they debuted yuqi was extremely self conscious because she thought and was told her voice was too deep to be an idol. soyeon encouraged her and then highlighted her deep voice in songs because she wanted her to be confident and see how beautiful her voice is. and minnie is from thailand and pronounces her R’s with a lisp, so soyeon then wrote her specifically dreamy lines that would highlight the was she sang her R’s. she did things like that for all of her members and i just think it’s so interesting. Soyeon really really understands what works with each member and how to get the best out of them. With Yuqi, she lets her take the lead, and gives a bunch of compliments and encouragement. For Minnie, Soyeon tends to explain through emotions and guides her with her voice. With Miyeon, she knows her vocal strengths well, and she pushes her to boost her confidence because she knows that she can trust her. Soyeon takes a more hands-on approach with Shuhua. She knows that Shuhua needs a bit more, because she’s not as confident in singing and needs more direction, so Soyeon is more relaxed and patient with her. and even though soyeon is the main title track and bside song maker producer and writer, there is a producer line in gidle consisting of soyeon, minnie, and yuqi! funnily they were all of the girls that stood out to you lol. their methods of writing and producing and super different than soyeons and it’s cool to see, even if they mostly make b-sides. if you actually watch soyeons recording behind and you’re interested in more, you should react to minnie and yuqis recording behind. minnie’s style is more chill and yuqi likes to be in your face and rock and roll.i personally like the songs that minnie writes and produces a bit more because they’re so dreamy and haunting. she has a very distinct writing style. some of her bests are: “tung-tung” a japanese single, made me cry “already” bside “lucid” bside “escape” bside, this song made me cry “vision” bside “change” bside the nxde album is a must react because it’s so filled with emotion and if you like nxde you will love the album. tbh gidles bsides are reall
Nude, uh oh, hwaa y never stop me. Son 4 canciones con vibras completamente distintas. En todas las canciones ellas dejan un mensaje. Espero y me gustaría puedas reaccionar ya que cuando uno entra en (G) I dle se queda para siempre. Saludos!
soyeon created the song “Lion” in two weeks for a show called queendom!! it’s an amazing and powerful song, and i’d recommend after watching it to watch the “lion” queendom performance and the “put it straight” performance!! they’re both absolutely amazing. “put it straight” is a b-side, but for queendom they specially produced a nightmare version and made it into a performance. it’s a really haunting song.
Gidle is one of the most successful Kpop girl group. Especially their leader Soyeon. She is the only female Idol who can win Best Songwriter and Best Producer Award. She is referred to as 'the empress of Kpop' by Rolling Stones Korea. She is the bomb 🫰🏻
Gidle is GOATs Soyeon writing if you read their lyrics is better than 99.8% of the industry she even said in super lady I never lose cause I got a super power. They have so many bangers
you should check their song 'super lady' its soo good i love how the main rapper hit those notessss or 'nxde' they really be talking about us women having power
yes "Klaxon" means "car horn"! It’s a word used in a lot of languages and I was honestly surprised when so many English people didn’t know what it meant because I thought that’s also how you guys called it ahah
Watch their "Killing Voice" performance from a year ago, and you'll get a preview of their primary discography, and how much fun they have with their own music. Self-produced Queens, btw. =)
yes I love (G)-IDLE you should really react to Nxde, Queencard,Super Lady, and MY BAG those are all so good! (G)-IDLE is a woman empowering girl group if you haven't noticed lol.
I'm late but this is one my Ult groups in k-pop... I will do my best to make a helpful comment so you can learn a bit about the girls and the group! Thank you for reacting to them. Learning members! Keep in mind they went from having 6 members to 5 (unfortunately, Soojin was forced to leave by the company for false allegations, but she has re-debuted as a soloist and is doing well!) LION - This one tells you the names of whos singing in the MV I miss when kpop used to do this lol OH MY GOD -6:00 Minnie, 6:15 Soyeon, 6:34 Yuqi, 7:00 Miyeon, 7:28 Soojin, and 9:09 is Shuhua. KLAXON - Summer bop! 10:41 orange hair is Soyeon, 11:06 Minnie with the curly hair, 11:14 Yuqi with the black hair, 11:20 Miyeon with the short hair, and 12:40 Shuhua with red-ish hair TOMBOY - 15:19 Minnie, 15:34 Soyeon, 15:49 Miyeon, 16:01 Yuqi (with the pink-ish hair lol), 17:11 is Shuhua I could go on and on about them but important things is Soyeon is an insane rapper and basically self produced the group for years before Minnie, Yuqi, and Miyeon joined in on writing and producing songs as well. They are still a self-produced group, the only girl group on their level of popularity to do this. 18:35 I can confirm Tomboy always goes crazy at their concerts lol especially since they perform the uncensored version. Idols just aren't out here cursing in their music often, if ever. 19:10 Who put this together? Soyeon! She also does all the creative direction for every release. She knows what she wants. What you said about "girl power" type of songs is very true to them. They are a super openly feminist group and that's a scary thing to be in S Korea when it comes to maintaining popularity since feminism is heavily discouraged over there. A lot of people in the states don't realize how bad it is and how important IDLE's continued support of feminism is while staying one of the biggest girl groups around right now.
You should see the original performance of Lion, it was for a reality show they made the song. The performance is POWERFUL. Watch and see. Not even asking for a reaction ahahah just enjoy , I got goosebumps. Thank you for your reactions to them, i saw that you really liked them.
be sure to check out Nxde and Queencard btw almost all of their songs are written and produced by themselves, especially Soyeon you can check out their recording behind videos too 😀😀😀😀😀😀
Like Red Velvet, Mamamoo and most others, each member of G-idle have their own special vibe & vocal expertise. You find fans who LOVE a specific member in each group. G-Idle have always been total badass from the get-go.
Im still amazed how Soyeon wrote and produced Lion for the finale of a competition (Queendom). Its not meant to be a comeback, but the reception is so great that it became one of their magnum opus
If you ever do Queencard, remember to watch Allergy before it since it's a two part series (or you will be very very lost LOL). Also Revenge, NXDE, and Superlady all have wicked videos.
We start the “Oh my god” music video with minnie being dragged in a white space that looks clinical and devoid of color, then quite literally CRAWLING to a passageway in the wall that leads into the next scene which is starkly in contrast to the white and full of so much color. like night and day. then the beat kicks in, and finally an almost royal ethereal-looking yuqi appears. everything looks full and so lively. it’s minnie yearning to be in a world full of color which this girl who ‘showed her all the stars’ gave to her. her wanting to fall deeper into this love that’s so colorful. it’s basically a fantasy. she clearly wants nothing more than to get out of this white stained clean almost hospital-like place. running from these guard looking figures with black handprints and black splatter all over them. i think these guards/figures are supposed to represent society, and this white space is supposed to respect a mental hospital. being queer used to be seen as a mental illness, and usually being out in society can sometimes feels like you have some kind of sickness or something deadly wrong with you that needs to be purified. but clearly the guards/figure are the ones with black handprints splattered on their plain white outfits, and minnie is in pure white. they’re the ones who are de purifying her. and in the end minnie is corrupted BY the guards/figures. the whole music video minnie is shown in this room going crazy trying to get away from these figures, stuck in this white room/prison. but if you pay attention, about a quarter of the way through, she takes her fingers and makes a gun motion and shoots herself. bang. a few seconds later you can see her leaking blood on the floor and another few seconds a clip shows her with bloody nose. i think her character arc in the music video is supposed to show that too much repression can sully a person, and make them so alone the only way they could think of getting out is killing themselves. and that she could never truly accept herself, and was left in the mud, the same place she was trying to save herself from, the same place the people in white spent the whole music video trying to drag her away from. after a clip of minnie in the white room, then we get soyeons rap, which is i think, a difference between someone stuck trying to repress themselves(minnie) and someone who is embracing themself and saying they’re fine with sin if they get to be together with the one they love(soyeon). they’re meant to represent the different sides of the same coin. remember, the only two members who were ever in that white room and the only members who started out in that white room were soyeon and minnie. one got out, one stayed in, they both ended in the same exact place, and were again the only members in the mud/blood in the end. soyeon was smiling and smearing it on herself, minnie was stuck trying to escape and hating herself for it. here are a few lyrics from the rap that i think describe minnie in that room, and soyeon remembering what it was like there in the beginning: “The self-control and moderation you gave me “Have torn into pieces in the dark black hole” “It's unable to control, like sugar-coated drugs” i think that says it all😭😭 that’s just my interpretation, many people have many different interpretations and ideas, but i think even that this music video was even made and that soyeon fought for it makes me so proud no matter what the real truth is. the video was so incredibly intentional that i can’t believe anything other than that the meaning was intentional, too. especially when soyeon said this in an interview about why she was so set on the ‘she’ pronouns: “I just write what's on my mind. i didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition, so it's open to anything. all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected.” gonna shed a tear my queen knows her core audience 🥹😭🥲 i was a bit confused about the red and the implication of hell in the end, but when you actually look into how korean society sees and operates around lesbians you understand. it’s a completely different culture around it and this video was made years ago when it was even worse. just a year earlier gidle got into a controversy where they were ridiculed by knetizens(knetizens is what they call korean citizens that are the main fanbase for all kpop and not specific fandoms. so basically just all of korea) for kissing each other on stage after winning an award. they got in hot shit for just kissing each other on the cheek as a celebration and this song was released a year later. coincidental? maybe? maybe not, but worth mentioning!! but that’s just to say it’s pretty bad and the fact this video came out is crazy as there’s a big don’t ever speak about it just will it away culture.korea is pretty conservative and even the mention of it is pretty taboo. even though it’s slowly getting better especially in recent years and i’m glad idols have gotten a lot more comfortable, they couldn’t have become comfortable without the generation of kpop idols who spoke out and really took risky steps for lgbtq+ people in korea. the first ones that come to mind are sistar and GLAM, park jungmin, song ji eun, K.Will, and of course Holland!!! and all the other kpop idols and popular actors and shows that took steps to normalize it and especially HUMANIZE IT. and that’s just half the fight. a lot of what kpop idols and actors do don’t translate into regular living. it’s just art and special cases. it’s the same with the clothes they wear and almost everything else. i did a bit of research of what it’s like to be a lesbian in korea, and the general consensus is that it’s extremely hard, one quora user said: “People point, stare, laugh, and whisper. Moms will shield their children's eyes and the elderly will shake their heads in contempt. Churchgoers approaching us and: Beginning to pray Telling us we're going to hell Shouting at us Hitting us with their Bible (true story) Schoolgirls taking photos of us to "show their friends later” Street vendors refusing to sell food to us Mothers telling their children "study hard or you'll become a homo" It's bad enough that my family disowned me for dating a woman (which is a common occurrence by the way), I don't need my entire country to treat me like I'm diseased.” (this was an anonymous poster, she should be the first post that pops up when you search “what is it like to be a lesbian in korea” on google. this is just the one i picked because i thought her wording was beautiful. she seems like a wonderful soul.) i think that’s all!! i only focused on two characters gidle showed in the music video but there’s so much more nitty gritty about this music video that i could literally interpret it in like five different ways for hours. these two were just the first to stand out ❤️❤️ goddamn. im sorry for the fucking essay this is my first day taking adhd meds💋❤️😭 i’m obviously having trouble figuring out when to stop. love the vid
Loved your reaction! I just discovered them at the beginning of this year, but they quickly became one of my favorite bands ever. Their discography is so good and versatile and the members are all likeable, talented and seem genuinely like family. My favorite thing about them is that they are self-produced meaning that they write, compose and produce their music themselves and are the only kpop girl group to do so. Female producers are super rare in kpop and (G)I-DLE has three in one band. Here's an overview over the members: Miyeon: 27 years old, Korean, Main Vocalist, Visual, oldest member. She recently also started to get more involved in the songwriting of the group. Minnie: 27 years old, Thai, Main Vocalist. She has been writing and producing songs for the group since 2019. Soojin: 26 years old, Korean, Main Dancer. She unfairly had to leave the group in 2021 due to accusations that she bullied a former classmate back in school. These accusations were proven false, but damage had already been done. Her and the other members were super close, but they are sadly not even allowed to even acknowledge each others existence anymore due to contracts. After being totally gone for over two years she debuted as a solo artist a year ago. Soyeon: 26 years old, Korean, leader, Main Rapper. She's also their main producer. All of the songs you listened to were written, composed and produced by her. She's planning all their albums from the concept to the finished product. I mean it, besides the songs she's also involved in styling, theme, music videos and even marketing. She's has written all their singles while the other members mostly only writes the non-promoted tracks on the albums. Yuqi: 25 years old, Chinese, Lead Dancer, Lead Vocalist. She also has written and produced music for the group since 2020. She's the one with pink hair in Tomboy. Famous for her deep voice. Shuhua: 24 years old, Taiwanese, Sub Vocalist, Visual, youngest member. You should consider reacting to a fanmade guide video that will give an overview over the group and the members. Their really helpful for new fans and most of the times also really funny. A lot of reactors check out a guide. The guide reactions also make good views most of the time. What I also love about (G)I-DLE is that their music videos are basically movies. Also their messages. Korea is super conservative, but their music is about female empowerment and other "controversial" themes. They're not afraid to push boundaries to fight for what they believe in, which is also kinda rare in kpop and makes them really brave. Could talk about them for ours, but I feel like you should just continue reacting to them without me spoiling anything :)
I can't believe I made it all the way through without leaving 20 comments lol! "Klaxon" is an actual English word that means the sound of a horn, let the fact that nobody knows it give you some clue to how Soyeon is a true genius. Pink Hair is Yuqi, she is Beijing's top girl, aggro AF, and her incredible voice hasn't even peaked. She has written and released songs for her last few bdays, recently she put out "Radio Dum Dum" which is really cute and has a video. Soojin had to leave the group due to false bullying accusations. GIDLE has so many good songs so I'll ramble off some of my next recs for you: "Allergy" and "Queencard" (the videos tell a story together so def watch them back to back), "Put It Straight (Nightmare version)" - either live or the Halloween video, "Is This Bad B*** Number" (Soyeon solo with ft artists, this will introduce you to Lee Young-Ji and Bibi, both of whom are well worth knowing about, plus you will see Soyeon really show off her rap skills), and then "Revenge" because it gives some closure about Soojin :) Also the song that we go craziest for live is "My Bag" Thank you for having GIDLE on your channel!!!
Like how did I not hear of the word lol, and yes you see how I guessed a million things before I got the right answer😂😂😂 thank you!! Will check out more❤️❤️ and of course!! Thank you for watching!!!
She whispers "Ab iho pectore." It's Latin and means "from deepest chest." You can see the words in a frame or two right after that scene in black on a red background behind the woman. Basically I think the meaning is from the deepest part of her heart. Her secret heart that loves the other woman, although I've read many folks say that's it's not technically meant to be a lesbian love song. But come on...those lyrics...those visuals...sure, sure it's not.
I love your reactions and I love IDLE! Hope to see you reacting to more of their music. I recommend my bag choreography/performance video, queencard, HWAA, superlady, & HANN
Gidle is known for their girl power in the group and are definitely the best group in my opinion I'm glad to be a neverland (fan name for gidle is "neverland") ❤
And now, a "little" info about my favorite girl band (besides XG ofc🥰) - pls excuse my english mistakes, is not my main language: (G) I-dle (the G is silent) - debuted in 2018, with the song "Latata" (composed by who other than Soyeon herself, who, at the time, was disappointed with Cube's - their company - suggestions for a debut track, so she took the reins in her own hands & wrote their debut songs herself - and from there, well... it's kpop history... They're the definition of a "I don't give a f..k attitude" in the kpop industry, always not being afraid to tackle really sensitive/hard topics in the Korean society, like female status, female idols struggles in the industry, same gender relationships, bullying & many, many more (even dissing their own company, CUBE, on several occasions). They're a 5 member kpop group (6 members initially , but Soojin - the main dancer - was forced by the company to retire from the group, due to a bullying scandal, which in retrospect was found to be unproven/untrue - so she had to take a hiatus for a couple of years & but luckily she re-debuted, as a solo artist, 1 year ago, under a different company - u should chekc her out as well). - Jeon Soyeon - Korean, 26 y old - Leader, Main Rapper, Sub Vocalist, Center - a MUSIC GENIUS, she composed & produced/coproduced around 80-90% of their releases, one of the best (if not the best, in my opinion) kpop girl rapper (check her collab with Bibi & Lee young Ji: Is this bad b****** number? ( ua-cam.com/video/yQ_YZGrsx6M/v-deo.html). Also she composed & produced for a bunch of other artists & groups, being recognized & respected as 1 of the most talented composers & producers in the industry. Also, she is an amazing singer & dancer. She is an odd one (to say the least 😅), a little complexed about her height (only 157 cm) & her unconventional look ( she was rejected several times, when she tried to audition for several companies, because of her nasal tone, sharp face features & not so white skin tone) but now she is regarded as 1 of the most respected girl kpop stars in the whole industry). Very charismatic & intelligent, she has a totally different vibe in her private life, an introvert & homebody, who enjoys watching anime's (LION was composed after she watched "The Lion King" 😅) & reading manga's. She has a sister, who is a pâtissier, if I'm not mistaking. Also, the most important important part: SHE HATES VEGETABLES🤣🤣🤣 - from childhood she couldn't stand eating them (she hates, with gusto, cucumbers, carrots & lettuce). As a matter of fact, she did eat raw vegetables once after loosing a bet (she, with her her big mouth said that if they win some prizes & do well with 1 of their releases - I don't remember which one, probably Tomboy or Queencard, she will eat raw vegetables), so she ate a cucumber & a carrot live, she later said it was the most horrifying experience of her life ua-cam.com/video/Rqdvahn9N3Y/v-deo.html (I almost chocked myself to death laughing, watching her for a few minutes forcing herself to eat a fucking carrot & 1 lousy cucumber🤣🤣🤣). She does like fruits though & she eats cherry tomatoes (since they're fruits 😅). She debuted as a solo artist as well, with her "Windy" mini-album in 2021. Soyeon expressed her desire for more women to take part in record production, believing that there are no gender boundaries when it comes to arts forms like music, performances and gaming. She stated, "When I write, I don't think about gender. No 'we're a girl group', women, men or age. I just write what's on my mind." In June 2020 interview with MTV, on using the pronoun "she" in "Oh My God", Soyeon remarked that she "didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition, so it's open to anything" and that "all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected."; - Cho Miyeon - Korean, 27 y old , Main Vocalist, Visual - the oldest of the group , but the goofiest & most unserious among them. Shed gives off princess vibes, until she opens her mouth 😂. She was initially an YG trainee (she started training in middle school) & trained with the current Blackpink members (she actually almost debuted with Rose Jisoo, Lisa & Jennie, but she was removed from the lineup right before they debuted, which, in retrospect, was better, since it wouldn't be (G) I-dle that is today without her & her amazing vocals). She plays violin & piano, she is a real human happy virus & the definition of an extrovert. She is part of the League of Legends band called K/DA, together with Soyeon & other artists, like Madison Beer & Jaira Burns). Lately, she delved into composing & writing songs as well. U should definitely check her live vocals, which she showcased in a variety of live singing shows, covering popular tracks. She is also a great MC as well (she was for almost 3 years the main MC for M Countdown, the world's no 1 kpop chart show - the longest-serving MC for this show); - Minnie (Nicha Yontararak)- Thai, also 27 y old, she first did not know how to speak Korean when she moved to SK to pursue music (now she speaks fluently English & Korean). Amazing vocalist, with a great range, unique and soothing voice. She plays the piano form 4 y old & she is actually Royalty, her family being part of the Thai Royal family (she is also very rich, even prior to her becoming famous as part of (G) I-dle). She is also very good friends with BP's Lisa, GOT7's Bambam (she is in a Thai group chat with Bambam, Nichkhun (2PM), Sorn (CLC), Lisa (Blackpink) and Ten (NCT). She also writes lyrics & composes songs (she composed or (co) composed Moon and Dahlia, also Lucid, Paradise, Blow your mind, Sculpture & a few others from their discography). She has a few dogs as pets & her hobby is shopping(duh,, royalty😁); - Song Yuqi - Chinese, 25 y old, was born in Beijing, she is (the current) main dancer, lead vocalist, lead rapper, and face of the group (she was nominated for “Most 100 Beautiful Faces of 2018″, representing China). She speaks Korean & English fluently as well. Another definition of an extrovert, with a real bubbly & loud personality (and I'm not exaggerating, she is LOUD , even she admits it...🤣) & a very contagious laughter. Also, very, very intelligent, with wonderful school results (prior to her descent into kpop industry), she dances amazingly, knows how to play the guzheng ( a very hard to learn Chinese instrument), writes/composes/produces songs as well. She officially debuted as a soloist on April 23, 2024 with the mini album YUQ1. U should definitely check her solo tracks like: "Bonnie & Clyde", "Freak", "My way", "Red Rover", "On clap, "Drink it up" & "Radio" (just released). Another interesting tidbit of information is that she didn't have, from the start, her signature low register voice, her raspy & low tone becoming like that due to a very bad cold in her childhood, which left an impact on her vocal chords. She later confessed that she was actually bullied in school years, due to her "masculine" voice, sadly... who would have guessed that she would later become 1 of the most iconic girl singers in the kpop industry... the irony; - Yeh Shuhua - Taiwanese, (was born in Taipei City), )24 y old, the Maknae of the group, Sub Vocalist, Visual, dancer. She always wanted to be an entertainer & lately confessed she wants to try acting as well (which I think it would rly suits her). She had a hard time as a trainee, since she didn't understand 1 word in Korean, but she persevered & luckily she debuted with her members. She was rly complexed in the beginning, by her vocal skills, (she was attacked & criticized by netizens that she doesn't know how to sing & that she gets very few lines, but that was due to the the fact that she didn't really spoke korean well at first & her lack of vocal training) but lately she got more confident & started getting/singing more lines in their songs (Soyeon said about her that she has a chameleonic type of voice, capable of adapting to whatever she is put to sing). Also, in their last World Tour (I-dol), which was a huge succes, she had a solo part, dancing on Tyla's "Water": ua-cam.com/video/-uPOaZPfNiw/v-deo.html, which went viral on social media. She was really close to Soojin, the member who was forced to leave the group & after her departure, she was tasked of taking over most of Soojin's lines (which, she confessed she doesn't enjoy very much, probably because she loved & respected Soojin greatly); - Seo Soojin (Ex-member) - Korean, 27 y old (oldest member, prior to leaving the group, the Unnie of the group) Main Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Sub Rapper, the real definition of an introverted and aloof personality. She has a very sultry & velvety voice tone & her dance skills, OMFG... her dance skils. Well, let's say she was invited to perform on Studio Choom "Artist of the Month", as a solo artist, an honor reserved only to the best dancers in kpop, like Itzy's members, Lee Chae-yeon, Straykids, TXT, Ateez members etc (ua-cam.com/video/F_m2j9lvTig/v-deo.html). On March 4, 2021, it was announced that Soojin would temporarily halt all activities following allegations of bullying by former classmates. On August 14, Cube Entertainment announced that Soojin had officially withdrawn from (G)I-DLE, though she will remain under the same agency. On March 5, 2022, Cube Entertainment announced that they officially terminated Soojin's contract after police investigations concluded that the accusers were not guilty of spreading false information. On September 8, Soojin's legal representative released a statement on her behalf, "The school's Autonomous Committee for School Violence Countermeasures found her not guilty. Instead, they discovered she had been a victim of bullying, and no further legal action will be pursued."
I highly suggest dumdi dumdi since you liked the summer vibe from klaxon! Also super lady, wife, nude, queen card, and allergy. You really can't go wrong with any of their songs though. I've seen them live and they're just as incredible
Would be fun to see you check out AESPA again, they’re arguably the most succesful girlgroup this year. With Supernova, Armageddon, Better Things, Drama etc.
Soyeon is known to be one of the best rappers in K-pop 😻and also produces and comes up with concepts for 90% of G-Idles songs
soyeon (the rapper in lion) is their leader and she writes most of their songs. she is also the one who produces all of their albums and concepts and she kind of does more for this group than their actual company. she is an amazing rapper and honestly one of the best female rappers in kpop, she's just AMAZING.
“Who put this together” literally them😭😭😭. Love these girls, the leader Soyeon is also the creative producer for the group along with being the main producer and the other girls produce as well.
"my bag" dance practice is a must.
I love seeing people's first reaction to Soyeon.
7:55 This is what happens when the main rapper writes, composes, and produces the song.
btw Soyeon, the main rapper and leader of the group, also writes, composes and produces their songs, she also comes up with the video concepts.
Did you know Soyeon writes almost all of the Songs herself, comes up with their concepts herself and even produces the songs herself? I Love her
Soyeon (The rapper and leader) writes almost all their songs😁
Girlll you have to react SUPER LADY and NUDE by GIDLE 😭🤍🤍🤍
Soyeon produces most of their songs, shes the one that always raps!
you may notice that in older music videos the group has six members but now has 5. that's bc former member Soojin got wrapped up in a bullying allegations (which were later proven false) and left the group. the company that the girls are under did barley anything to help soojin when all this was happening, but since then (G)-IDLE has found was to honor soojin and remeber her via lyrics and music video visuals.
I could talk so much more about them but i'll leave it there lmao
Also theres this channel called dingo music where Kpop groups do live vocals.
Pink hair is Yuqi. She also has some banger solos. She's like the punk vibe in the group. She's very rock and roll.
She knows that Shuhua needs a bit more, because she’s not as confident in singing and needs more direction, so Soyeon is more relaxed and patient with her.
and even though soyeon is the main title track and bside song maker producer and writer, there is a producer line in gidle consisting of soyeon, minnie, and yuqi! funnily they were all of the girls that stood out to you lol. their methods of writing and producing and super different than soyeons and it’s cool to see, even if they mostly make b-sides. if you actually watch soyeons recording behind and you’re interested in more, you should react to minnie and yuqis recording behind. minnie’s style is more chill and yuqi likes to be in your face and rock and roll.i personally like the songs that minnie writes and produces a bit more because they’re so dreamy and haunting. she has a very distinct writing style. some of her bests are:
“tung-tung” a japanese single, made me cry
“already” bside
“lucid” bside
“escape” bside, this song made me cry
“vision” bside
“change” bside
the nxde album is a must react because it’s so filled with emotion and if you like nxde you will love the album.
tbh gidles bsides are reall
(G)I-DLE = Girl Power Soyeon is one of the most talented idols, she sings, writes, dances, produces, raps and also cooks very well 😌
Nude, uh oh, hwaa y never stop me.
You’ll love (G)I-DLE “SuperLady”, “Queencard”, and dance performance for “My Bag”.
"Klaxon" is widely used ariund the world as a synonym for "horn" (the car kind, not the animal kind)
Gidle is GOATs Soyeon writing if you read their lyrics is better than 99.8% of the industry she even said in super lady I never lose cause I got a super power. They have so many bangers
YAYY FINALLY A REACTION TO THE QUEENS
Pink hair is our queen YUQI🗣️
(G)I-DLE are awesome! Soyeon is so talented…. Writes and produces almost all of their songs! And is the best rapper!
Super Lady is a great song of theirs, and Queencard and Wife are worth checking out too.
you should check their song 'super lady' its soo good i love how the main rapper hit those notessss or 'nxde' they really be talking about us women having power
And queencard can't forget tht iconic song
yes "Klaxon" means "car horn"! It’s a word used in a lot of languages and I was honestly surprised when so many English people didn’t know what it meant because I thought that’s also how you guys called it ahah
If you loved Klaxon, you will love Dumdi Dumdi another of their summer bops, just good vibes all around too.
(G)-IDLE is a woman empowering girl group if you haven't noticed lol.
like all of the video clips are top
18:37 Yup they went for the uncensored version of Tomboy at MMA awards 2022. It went soooo hard.
I'm late but this is one my Ult groups in k-pop... I will do my best to make a helpful comment so you can learn a bit about the girls and the group! Thank you for reacting to them.
Learning members! Keep in mind they went from having 6 members to 5 (unfortunately, Soojin was forced to leave by the company for false allegations, but she has re-debuted as a soloist and is doing well!)
LION - This one tells you the names of whos singing in the MV I miss when kpop used to do this lol
OH MY GOD -6:00 Minnie, 6:15 Soyeon, 6:34 Yuqi, 7:00 Miyeon, 7:28 Soojin, and 9:09 is Shuhua.
KLAXON - Summer bop! 10:41 orange hair is Soyeon, 11:06 Minnie with the curly hair, 11:14 Yuqi with the black hair, 11:20 Miyeon with the short hair, and 12:40 Shuhua with red-ish hair
TOMBOY - 15:19 Minnie, 15:34 Soyeon, 15:49 Miyeon, 16:01 Yuqi (with the pink-ish hair lol), 17:11 is Shuhua
I could go on and on about them but important things is Soyeon is an insane rapper and basically self produced the group for years before Minnie, Yuqi, and Miyeon joined in on writing and producing songs as well.
A lot of people in the states don't realize how bad it is and how important IDLE's continued support of feminism is while staying one of the biggest girl groups around right now.
her shock at soyeons rap made me so hapy and idk why
Best girl gruop ever of all times
YES FACTS
One of the most iconic group
Yea
Love your reactions. You should check out “Vengeance”, “Sugar Rush”, and “Animal Fsrm” by BiBi
Mby even yena bc their all connected 😅
You should see the original performance of Lion, it was for a reality show they made the song. The performance is POWERFUL. Watch and see. Not even asking for a reaction ahahah just enjoy , I got goosebumps. Thank you for your reactions to them, i saw that you really liked them.
performance was amazing
Pls do Nxde, Superlady, Allergy, Queencard, Fate, Hann, Hwaa, Latata, Senorita, Uh-oh, My bag, Dumdi Dumdi and Never stop me next!
You must watch Gidle - My bag
The girl with the pink hair is Yuqi! She has a solo song called freak which you should check out :)
They produce their own music, mainly their leader Soyeon!
The pink hair in tomboy is Yuqi my personal favorite 🥰
SAME, MY FAVOURITE TOO 😻😭💞
be sure to check out Nxde and Queencard
btw almost all of their songs are written and produced by themselves, especially Soyeon
you can check out their recording behind videos too 😀😀😀😀😀😀
"Allergy" comes before "Queencard". The stories are connected.
Red Velvet, the rabbit hole is deep. They literally do not have a bad song, best B sides in Kpop.
Like Red Velvet, Mamamoo and most others, each member of G-idle have their own special vibe & vocal expertise. You find fans who LOVE a specific member in each group. G-Idle have always been total badass from the get-go.
Their songs are even better when performing live 💥
Next up, listen to NXDE, Queencard, HWAA, LATATA, Uh-Oh, and Super Lady.
Im still amazed how Soyeon wrote and produced Lion for the finale of a competition (Queendom). Its not meant to be a comeback, but the reception is so great that it became one of their magnum opus
Only Kpop group that break Typical Stereotypes
My reaction to "oh my god" was the same ❤😂
In "Oh my God" she said "Ab imo pectore"..."from the bottom of my heart". Soyeon is a genius...
your face at the rap part in Lion😆 pure happiness ✨
If you ever do Queencard, remember to watch Allergy before it since it's a two part series (or you will be very very lost LOL). Also Revenge, NXDE, and Superlady all have wicked videos.
We start the “Oh my god” music video with minnie being dragged in a white space that looks clinical and devoid of color, then quite literally CRAWLING to a passageway in the wall that leads into the next scene which is starkly in contrast to the white and full of so much color. like night and day. then the beat kicks in, and finally an almost royal ethereal-looking yuqi appears. everything looks full and so lively. it’s minnie yearning to be in a world full of color which this girl who ‘showed her all the stars’ gave to her. her wanting to fall deeper into this love that’s so colorful. it’s basically a fantasy. she clearly wants nothing more than to get out of this white stained clean almost hospital-like place. running from these guard looking figures with black handprints and black splatter all over them. i think these guards/figures are supposed to represent society, and this white space is supposed to respect a mental hospital. being queer used to be seen as a mental illness, and usually being out in society can sometimes feels like you have some kind of sickness or something deadly wrong with you that needs to be purified. but clearly the guards/figure are the ones with black handprints splattered on their plain white outfits, and minnie is in pure white. they’re the ones who are de purifying her. and in the end minnie is corrupted BY the guards/figures. the whole music video minnie is shown in this room going crazy trying to get away from these figures, stuck in this white room/prison. but if you pay attention, about a quarter of the way through, she takes her fingers and makes a gun motion and shoots herself. bang. a few seconds later you can see her leaking blood on the floor and another few seconds a clip shows her with bloody nose. i think her character arc in the music video is supposed to show that too much repression can sully a person, and make them so alone the only way they could think of getting out is killing themselves. and that she could never truly accept herself, and was left in the mud, the same place she was trying to save herself from, the same place the people in white spent the whole music video trying to drag her away from.
after a clip of minnie in the white room, then we get soyeons rap, which is i think, a difference between someone stuck trying to repress themselves(minnie) and someone who is embracing themself and saying they’re fine with sin if they get to be together with the one they love(soyeon).
they’re meant to represent the different sides of the same coin.
remember, the only two members who were ever in that white room and the only members who started out in that white room were soyeon and minnie. one got out, one stayed in, they both ended in the same exact place, and were again the only members in the mud/blood in the end. soyeon was smiling and smearing it on herself, minnie was stuck trying to escape and hating herself for it. here are a few lyrics from the rap that i think describe minnie in that room, and soyeon remembering what it was like there in the beginning:
“The self-control and moderation you gave me
“Have torn into pieces in the dark black hole”
“It's unable to control, like sugar-coated drugs”
i think that says it all😭😭 that’s just my interpretation, many people have many different interpretations and ideas, but i think even that this music video was even made and that soyeon fought for it makes me so proud no matter what the real truth is. the video was so incredibly intentional that i can’t believe anything other than that the meaning was intentional, too. especially when soyeon said this in an interview about why she was so set on the ‘she’ pronouns:
“I just write what's on my mind.
i didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition, so it's open to anything.
all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected.”
gonna shed a tear my queen knows her core audience 🥹😭🥲
i was a bit confused about the red and the implication of hell in the end, but when you actually look into how korean society sees and operates around lesbians you understand. it’s a completely different culture around it and this video was made years ago when it was even worse. just a year earlier gidle got into a controversy where they were ridiculed by knetizens(knetizens is what they call korean citizens that are the main fanbase for all kpop and not specific fandoms. so basically just all of korea) for kissing each other on stage after winning an award. they got in hot shit for just kissing each other on the cheek as a celebration and this song was released a year later. coincidental? maybe? maybe not, but worth mentioning!! but that’s just to say it’s pretty bad and the fact this video came out is crazy as there’s a big don’t ever speak about it just will it away culture.korea is pretty conservative and even the mention of it is pretty taboo. even though it’s slowly getting better especially in recent years and i’m glad idols have gotten a lot more comfortable, they couldn’t have become comfortable without the generation of kpop idols who spoke out and really took risky steps for lgbtq+ people in korea. the first ones that come to mind are sistar and GLAM, park jungmin, song ji eun, K.Will, and of course Holland!!! and all the other kpop idols and popular actors and shows that took steps to normalize it and especially HUMANIZE IT. and that’s just half the fight. a lot of what kpop idols and actors do don’t translate into regular living. it’s just art and special cases. it’s the same with the clothes they wear and almost everything else.
i did a bit of research of what it’s like to be a lesbian in korea, and the general consensus is that it’s extremely hard, one quora user said:
“People point, stare, laugh, and whisper. Moms will shield their children's eyes and the elderly will shake their heads in contempt.
Churchgoers approaching us and:
Beginning to pray
Telling us we're going to hell
Shouting at us
Hitting us with their Bible (true story)
Schoolgirls taking photos of us to "show their friends later”
Street vendors refusing to sell food to us
Mothers telling their children "study hard or you'll become a homo"
It's bad enough that my family disowned me for dating a woman (which is a common occurrence by the way), I don't need my entire country to treat me like I'm diseased.”
(this was an anonymous poster, she should be the first post that pops up when you search “what is it like to be a lesbian in korea” on google. this is just the one i picked because i thought her wording was beautiful. she seems like a wonderful soul.)
i think that’s all!! i only focused on two characters gidle showed in the music video but there’s so much more nitty gritty about this music video that i could literally interpret it in like five different ways for hours. these two were just the first to stand out ❤️❤️
goddamn. im sorry for the fucking essay this is my first day taking adhd meds💋❤️😭 i’m obviously having trouble figuring out when to stop. love the vid
The Queens 😭❤️ we love them
That girl with the brown curly hair is Minnie. The same one who you said goes insanely now and high
My bias queen Minnie 😔💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟
My bias queen Minnie 😔💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟
13:51 its minnie❤ with Curly hair.
16:43 its yuqi✨ with pink hair.
Klaxon is honk honk🚙
Loved your reaction! I just discovered them at the beginning of this year, but they quickly became one of my favorite bands ever. Their discography is so good and versatile and the members are all likeable, talented and seem genuinely like family. My favorite thing about them is that they are self-produced meaning that they write, compose and produce their music themselves and are the only kpop girl group to do so. Female producers are super rare in kpop and (G)I-DLE has three in one band. Here's an overview over the members:
Miyeon: 27 years old, Korean, Main Vocalist, Visual, oldest member.
Soyeon wrote this for the show they competed on. what the Lion - Queendom performance
IM VERY HAPPY TO SEE THIS VIDEO THAT YOURE REACTING TO GIDLE 😭😭😭
Klaxon is a term used to horn. Idk why americans left using that term. In other languages it's common
Thank you for the nice reaction ❤If you liked "Klaxon" and "Tomboy", you´ll love "Queencard" from (G)-IDLE 🥳 and of course "Nxde" 💃
Girl that actually baffled me in a lot of countries that's what we call it so this is literally the first time i saw ppl not knowing it
Like how did I not hear of the word lol, and yes you see how I guessed a million things before I got the right answer😂😂😂 thank you!! Will check out more❤️❤️ and of course!! Thank you for watching!!!
Yeah I’ve always just heard ppl say “horn” 😂
you should go from tomboy to nxde to queencard
I NEED Nxde, superlady, señorita, hann (alone in winter), and queencard in part two!!
Oh cool ur checking out gidle. To me they are the standard. Soyeon is prob The most impressive idol to me period. She’s the definition of a queen.
It's "ab imo pectore" :)
Also, the English version of "Oh My God" makes clear that it's sapphic...some people just can't accept it lol
Love your reactions, my mom is frowning at me cause I'm laughing and vibing with you the whole video
Mamamo should be next, Hwasa will blow your mind.
I love your reactions and I love IDLE! Hope to see you reacting to more of their music. I recommend my bag choreography/performance video, queencard, HWAA, superlady, & HANN
First! I am so happy you reacted the Gidle they really be different when it comes to them lyricism and a lot of that is from the members themselves
Let’s goooo gidle
soyeon our smol captain
I thought and you commented ittt slayyy
You are doing my favorite groups KiOF and idle. Than you
Of courseeeee!❤️, thank you for tuning innn
Yes a Klaxon is a horn. Only Soyeon could write a hit song about a horn!! 😂
A klaxon is the technical name of an compressed air horn ( like the one in your steering wheel) .
If you likes summer song, i recommend you dumdi dumdi! It's another summer song by gidle!
9:31 that means from the bottom of my heart in latin
Yesssss love gidle smmm
IM BEGGING U TO DO PART 2 OF OTHER MVS PLS PLS PLS
You should definitely react to Nxde, Queencard and super lady
Gidle is known for their girl power in the group and are definitely the best group in my opinion I'm glad to be a neverland (fan name for gidle is "neverland") ❤
i LIVEEE for your reactions!! Would love to see you react to more (g)-idle! I recommend Superlady, Wife, and Señorita ❤
I love your reactions melaysha, thanks for another beautiful video
And now, a "little" info about my favorite girl band (besides XG ofc🥰) - pls excuse my english mistakes, is not my main language:
(G) I-dle (the G is silent) - debuted in 2018, with the song "Latata" (composed by who other than Soyeon herself, who, at the time, was disappointed with Cube's - their company - suggestions for a debut track, so she took the reins in her own hands & wrote their debut songs herself - and from there, well... it's kpop history...
Soyeon expressed her desire for more women to take part in record production, believing that there are no gender boundaries when it comes to arts forms like music, performances and gaming. She stated, "When I write, I don't think about gender. No 'we're a girl group', women, men or age. I just write what's on my mind." In June 2020 interview with MTV, on using the pronoun "she" in "Oh My God", Soyeon remarked that she "didn't want to limit that 'she' to a certain being or a certain definition, so it's open to anything" and that "all kinds of love are valuable and must be respected.";
- Cho Miyeon - Korean, 27 y old , Main Vocalist, Visual - the oldest of the group , but the goofiest & most unserious among them.
U should definitely check her live vocals, which she showcased in a variety of live singing shows, covering popular tracks. She is also a great MC as well (she was for almost 3 years the main MC for M Countdown, the world's no 1 kpop chart show - the longest-serving MC for this show);
- Minnie (Nicha Yontararak)- Thai, also 27 y old, she first did not know how to speak Korean when she moved to SK to pursue music (now she speaks fluently English & Korean). Amazing vocalist, with a great range, unique and soothing voice. She plays the piano form 4 y old & she is actually Royalty, her family being part of the Thai Royal family (she is also very rich, even prior to her becoming famous as part of (G) I-dle). She is also very good friends with BP's Lisa, GOT7's Bambam (she is in a Thai group chat with Bambam, Nichkhun (2PM), Sorn (CLC), Lisa (Blackpink) and Ten (NCT). She also writes lyrics & composes songs (she composed or (co) composed Moon and Dahlia, also Lucid, Paradise, Blow your mind, Sculpture & a few others from their discography). She has a few dogs as pets & her hobby is shopping(duh,, royalty😁);
- Song Yuqi - Chinese, 25 y old, was born in Beijing, she is (the current) main dancer, lead vocalist, lead rapper, and face of the group (she was nominated for “Most 100 Beautiful Faces of 2018″, representing China). She speaks Korean & English fluently as well. Another definition of an extrovert, with a real bubbly & loud personality (and I'm not exaggerating, she is LOUD , even she admits it...🤣) & a very contagious laughter. Also, very, very intelligent, with wonderful school results (prior to her descent into kpop industry), she dances amazingly, knows how to play the guzheng ( a very hard to learn Chinese instrument), writes/composes/produces songs as well. She officially debuted as a soloist on April 23, 2024 with the mini album YUQ1. U should definitely check her solo tracks like: "Bonnie & Clyde", "Freak", "My way", "Red Rover", "On clap, "Drink it up" & "Radio" (just released). Another interesting tidbit of information is that she didn't have, from the start, her signature low register voice, her raspy & low tone becoming like that due to a very bad cold in her childhood, which left an impact on her vocal chords. She later confessed that she was actually bullied in school years, due to her "masculine" voice, sadly... who would have guessed that she would later become 1 of the most iconic girl singers in the kpop industry... the irony;
- Yeh Shuhua - Taiwanese, (was born in Taipei City), )24 y old, the Maknae of the group, Sub Vocalist, Visual, dancer. She always wanted to be an entertainer & lately confessed she wants to try acting as well (which I think it would rly suits her). She had a hard time as a trainee, since she didn't understand 1 word in Korean, but she persevered & luckily she debuted with her members. She was rly complexed in the beginning, by her vocal skills, (she was attacked & criticized by netizens that she doesn't know how to sing & that she gets very few lines, but that was due to the the fact that she didn't really spoke korean well at first & her lack of vocal training) but lately she got more confident & started getting/singing more lines in their songs (Soyeon said about her that she has a chameleonic type of voice, capable of adapting to whatever she is put to sing). Also, in their last World Tour (I-dol), which was a huge succes, she had a solo part, dancing on Tyla's "Water": ua-cam.com/video/-uPOaZPfNiw/v-deo.html, which went viral on social media. She was really close to Soojin, the member who was forced to leave the group & after her departure, she was tasked of taking over most of Soojin's lines (which, she confessed she doesn't enjoy very much, probably because she loved & respected Soojin greatly);
- Seo Soojin (Ex-member) - Korean, 27 y old (oldest member, prior to leaving the group, the Unnie of the group) Main Dancer, Sub Vocalist, Sub Rapper, the real definition of an introverted and aloof personality.
