Bury the Light (Vergils theme) from Devil may cry 5. It's a game, but the song is an absolute banger and very good for the algorithm too. People look up reactions to it a lot. Maybe, just maybe, those people who said this song had no meaning has some problem with their ability to understand things? Bcs this song doesn't even use difficult metaphors at all. And if they were really bad at understanding things, the last chorus at the end literally concludes the message in a really direct way.

The album that this song is part of 'I LOVE' has many inspirations from Marlyn Monroe. Soyeon actually had a powerpoint presentation that she showed in a company meeting about the concept. The message she wanted the album to give is 'I rather be hated for being who I am rather than loved for who I’m not'. IIRC the company was more against this concept.

at the end, what I truly love is the direct translation of the lyrics. Instead of "I am born nude, you've got a dirty mind", what they really said was "I am born nude, the pervert is you". Not only did they rhyme in two different languages, but that last statement is just so strong and self-assured, the victim is and will never be the problem, society is.
This song is so deep I love it so much. The message is so important and it's so rare in kpop to see such open statements which makes it even more special.
Another fact about this song is that the title 'Nxde' also serves as a way to prevent people from looking up children's indecent images or videos. When writing (G)-Idle in korean the word Idle is written 아이들, which means children, so when people type '아이들 (children) nxde' they find their song and content. And it has been proven that it actually worked. Soyeon really is a genius and not only musically.
It's also for when they search up "female idol" (which (G)-Idle's korean group name translates to), and they add nude, which of course means they're searching for indecent content about female idols. So I believe this title also strives to protect those other female idols out there who are overtly sexualized and defamed through countless videos and posts showcasing "nude" content.

Soyeon wrote Nxde for the people that think women are sexual objects/figures for people to sexualize and to about like they're nothing but objects that don't have feelings or see what you're saying about them. This song is truly a new thing in K-pop and I give so much applause to Soyeon for writing a song like this.
And fan theories say that Nxde was wrote for their ex-member Soojin, because she was huge fan of Marilyn Monroe and Soojin looked up to her.

there's also another reason, she said that she wrote the song because their group name G-Idle in Korean means “children”. So when typed along with “nxde” or “nude”, it is their content that will now pop up immediately instead of explicit and illegal photos.

not only that but 'yeppi' isn't even a full word and it's typically used for dogs/pets. so it really goes well with the ironic vibe of the verse!

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it just occurred to me when you talked about "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" that they all went entirely blond for this MV! In Tomboy, released a few weeks prior to Nxde, some had completely black hair and only 2 were blonde! I think this may be on purpose!

Nxde was such a beautiful and amazing concept i year up every time i watch this video. it’s so real and amazing, not to mention my favorite part is they changed the fan chant for their live stages of nxde to a bunch of boos towards the end of the song to add to the mood of “upset audience”

In korean, yeppuda means pretty, and yeppi yeppi is the slang way of saying yeppuda, so when minnie says "my name is yeppi yeppi" it has a depper meaning that only people who speak or are familiar with korean can understand

Yes, (G)-IDLE's song Nxde is based and inspired by Marilyn Monroe. There are a lot of things I've picked up from their style that looks identical to Marilyn's. Like in the beginning, the girl with the pink velvet dress is Minnie and that looks very much like Marilyn's pink dress in "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. And same with what you mentioned of the white dress that rode up in the wind and the blond hair styled that way is also inspired. The whole style and concept of this video is of course the meaning that Soyeon wanted to portray while using Marilyn Monroe's experience as well. I also heard this concept was also done for Soojin (the member that was unfortunately kicked out, but was proven innocent) because she loved Marilyn Monroe and it's believed that the little animated woman in blond with the mole/mark under her eye is believed to be Soojin because she had a mark under her eye in that same spot. But yeah very cool concept overall and the message is amazing!

If you look closely at the book the cartoon girl (some think it’s a cartoon of Soojin) is holding while Soyeon is rapping about philosophy, it’s Leaves of Grass which was a poetry collection by Walt Whitman and was very controversial at the time because of it being sexually explicit. Also I don’t remember if it was Soyeon but a female kpop idol got massive hate for reading a feminist novel while a male idol got lots of love for reading a feminist novel.
I believe it was Irene(Red Velvet) who got hated for reading a feminist book.

I stumbled upon (G)I-DLE when they released this song. They named the song "Nude" or wrote it so that when people would look up pictures of naked children, this song would pop up instead (something in the name "(G)I-DLE" apparently means children/child)
I thougt that this was so amazing and the song was so good, that I became a fan of them.

Many people actually belive that the inspiration from Marilyn Monroe was from an ex-member of this group Soojin who left the group. Soojin liked Marilyn and even had her on her phone screen or smth like that.
