    Thanx bro,I believe when changed o-rings in carbs I put the mixture screws to 3 which I believe is stock.The bike is totally running lean & backfires a lot.I think turning out to 3 1/2 turns will cure all.I also have the K&N filter ,full header & micron slip.✌Great helpful video, thnx

      Did you raise the needle by a clip after changing the exhaust system....that maybe your answer rather than just adjusting the mixture screws

    What are the stock jet sizes ?
    I suspect mine may have been done, but I'd like to check it at some stage.
    Mine has the K&N Filter and Yoshimura full system so I have a feeling it may have a kit fitted.
    The bike is a beast and definitely feels more alive than others I've sampled. Possibly has a cam too.

    Great job , how do you know you've got the air fuel ratio setup up correct , and say I've got a stock air filter but after market exhaust is There a way of getting air fuel mixture spot on if any issues come up in the future or is it a case of reading the plugs in a few hundred miles

    • @mcycle24
      @mcycle24  6 місяців тому +1

      Take it to a dynojet rolling road and have it tested, That’s the only way to get it spot on .

    Thanks for the video! I recently purchased a E1 and it has what I believe to be a DJ kit in it. However there is some confusion. Your kit has 170 on the 2&3 and 165 on the 1&4 cylinders, with 3.5 turns out on the air/fuel idol with e-clip on 3rd down from top on needle jet. Mine has 160s in all 4 with 3 turn out on the a/f and e-clip at 3 down from top. I have full Muzzy exhaust, K and N filter and +4 advance. what is more confusing is if you go to dynojet site and pull instructions for the E1 kit it has no more than 155 m jets max and 1.5 turns of the A/f idol screw. Have you seen or heard any variations on this DJ kit? BTW I am in US maybe there is different designs?

    Perfect I just got at great example of this bike (2k E1), with a K&N filter and Exhaust and stock carbs, so this may be needed soon. May do the ignition advance mod too if it has not been done.

    • @mcycle24
      @mcycle24  3 роки тому +1

      Don't bother with ignition advance mod , It's a waste of time in my opinion. Thanks for watching.

      @@mcycle24 It does seem to help the bike start better from what I've seen, whether is gives better performance I can't say of course, but other say it does low to mid range. The reason they retarded the ignition was to allow the bike to run on poor quality fuels in some countries, so it should have some effect, whether noticable or not. It's cheap so I'll do it, maybe hold on until I do re-jet the carbs as the two should compliment each other.

      Valve clearances need to be checked first though ZX9s produce their best power when they are set to upper limit particularly on the exhaust valves.
      Dynojet settings are only a starting point , Ideally a rolling road test run is a good idea. 👍

      @@mcycle24 mine has done just over 16k miles so may be worth checking them anyway as it would not likely have been done yet.

      My bike had only 3,000 miles on it when I got it but I checked them at 5,000 just out of interest to see if they were out . Turns out none of them were in spec , Mostly too tight even at such a low mileage.
      Service book says check every 8,000 miles if I remember correctly, So it’s definitely worth doing.

    Thanks for your many good videos! Any reason why you went with a Dynojet kit on this bike? Your other bike has an Ivan kit? I have a dynojet kit on my 98, C-model and it works great on that bike.

      Hi thanks,
      Could not find any Ivan’s kits for this model for sale at the time I was looking , So went for a dynojet kit instead.

    Did you have to tune carbs after the install?

    • @mcycle24
      @mcycle24  3 роки тому

      Just carb balancing, Ideally you should take the bike to a rolling road for fine tuning.

    Good Afternoon. What is the reason for enlarging the second hole in the diaphragm ? I’ve got a 2004 ZRK1200 and I am curious to know what the enlargement of the second hole will do to the bike ?

      Faster throttle response,, Don’t do this mod without the jet kit though as it will create a flat spot in acceleration.

      The 2 inside cylinders run hotter than the 2 outside cylinders that’s why you fit larger jets to aid cooling.

      My 2001 zx9 came with DJ 155 mains on all four cylinders. Carbs were badly clogged when i bought it. I finally got it cleaned and running good except it is really rich. I looked online at DJ instructions for the stage 1 kit and it shows 150 mains should be used and the slides are not to be drilled. You are using 165 and 170. Mine is a US model. I am wondering why the previous owner had it so richor did i do something wrong? Apparently your instructions are different.
