Lots of great ideas in this build. Very inspiring I absolutely love it. I wanted to acknowledge the practicality of the thing getting it to the launch site, wheeling it along pavements etc. So often a great launch site can be a fair distance from where you might safely/freely park your car. Currently living in Brighton UK, occasionally launching a Mirror Dinghy which has similarities in build techniques but can actually be a PITA to haul around. Often launching an inflatable kayak which is already to go!! But a Proa would provide so much versatility. The smaller the boat the bigger the fun or so they say :-)
OK. Initially congratulations on the boat and the quick response. Thank you very much. I find it fantastic when I meet people like you who share their experiences and make available a video of how they have accomplished their achievements. Congratulations, really. I have some difficulty in choosing my boat. And I wish I could share what led you to choose this particular boat. And what was his greatest difficulty. I'm looking for a small boat that can take two people and that I can carry it over the car. Does yours do that? have a good time.
Yes, you can car top this boat. Probably need 2 people, but it is slightly shorter than most cars. 4.7m. Weighs about 50kg. I have just published a new book on building small boats if you are interested. Inside is all the information you need to build this boat, or any plywood boat. www.amazon.com/dp/B07HLKZ8LQ There is more info on my website too with pictures, plans etc., on this boat. timwestonboats.com/plans/ It is very easy to paddle, not a super fast boat but very easily driven, even with 2 people and lots of gear. Tim
You read my mind. I am just starting the first of a mini series on how to build a small boat, step by step. It should be up on the channel soon! It is how to build the boat on the website timwestonboats.com/plans/plans-noosa/ but the steps apply to any plywood boat. There are plans coming too for the Proa. Regards Tim
super fun and informative video. glad to come across it. how is sailing going? any changes you'd make now that you've been out and about in the boat for a while now...
Hey, I'm interested in building this boat and I was wondering if I could have the plans or specifications? Something a bit more in depth than the video.
+Brody Eldridge Hi Brody. I don't have any plans available for this boat, yet. But there will be plans available soon on the website. The only plans I have are for the boat in 1 month video. There is more information on timwestonboats.com. Send me an email if you are interested and I will contact you. Cheers Brody.
+bombjack78 Hi Bombjack. Thanks, the ama's are just 2.7m long pine framing. Roughly 2 x 3 inch. Nothing hi tech.. An outrigger would make your canoe a lot more stable. Actually I am just about to release plans to build this boat. Full plans and template plans, if you are interested. There is more information on this boat in general on my website - timwestonboats.com and more to be added. Cheers Tim
isso não é um proa! proa tem duas proas, vc troca a vela de posição e muda a direção. isso é um "Outrigger boat". Proas tb tem flutuadores, mas funciona de forma diferente.

Thanks for your comment Adam. Yes, in the city and close to water, I love being able to walk it. Best regards.
Very cool. the outrigger is a good design. I'm making a sailing canoe and this is inspirational. thanks from Ft Lauderdale Florida!
Thanks, Fuzzy Was. It should work well on a canoe. You could carry some sail.
good work tim, think im going to have to build something like this
nicely done Tim!
+Ray Pena Thank you Ray!

Does this sailboat ride well against the wind?
Yes it does Henrique. It all depends on the dagger board. The one in the design is large for the size of this boat and it works well to wind. Tim
You are very professional in making boats
I am very impressed with that
But can you make videos for beginners?
You read my mind. I am just starting the first of a mini series on how to build a small boat, step by step. It should be up on the channel soon! Thank you and I am very excited
But what program do you use for 3D design
Hi Sultan. I used delftship to create this boat. Now I'm using Rhino 3D..
super fun and informative video. glad to come across it. how is sailing going? any changes you'd make now that you've been out and about in the boat for a while now...
Thanks James. This boat has been continually in change, it's a living experiment 😉. But I've learned a lot.

That is a lovely build. Do you have the plans available for you ama? As I'd like to do that to my plywood Canadian canoe.

The pacific proa does not have a symmetrical hull or a rutter.
You are correct, Deoccupy Hawaii.

You are correct, Tavaresrco.
that's not to bad a job.
f you build another its easier using stitch n glue and if you lay your tape on the wet fillet you save a bit of time
Thanks for your tips Jade :)
Not a proa. This is a one-way tacking outrigger.
Exactly.
You are correct, Joseph.
