Pull is such an under appreciated album. Might be their best album and no one really knows about it. Reb’s still sounding and playing great on the new Black Swan album too.
Great video. Reb is a killer guitarists. His rhythms are tricky. I love them though. Very cool stuff. He has a solo rock fusion album that is killer, and I'm not normally into that genre, personally. To each his own though. I think Tebs rhythms are what really are much more fun to play. Saw Winger open for Cinderella at an outdoor show. Bullet boys too at that show and it was loud and just killer. Loved that show. It was in like 91.
I was happy he mentioned Vito here, too. Vito is without doubt a top 5 all time melodic guitarist, coupled with his unmistakable genius in technique/style.
Vito was one of the best of that era right up there with Eddie,mr scary, warren di martini etc.etcAmazing guitarist.sadly he doesn't play anymore or or put music out.
Seventeen for the song at the beginning and i love "In the heart of the young" album it's good from start to finish .thanks for the memories and the lesson
Cutting loose was my favorite Guitar Video in the 80-90s, its so inspirational with feeling and very musically , compared to many other guitar videos in that aera that were mostly focused on technic and speed. Since then i'm a great fan of reb beach. Thanks for this video - lesson. Highly appreciated!
Right ! So much good stuff in cutting loose instructional ! That was Reb at his peak in my opinion from 88-93 Reb was right up there with vai and Satriani as far as innovative , exciting guitar playing his tapping is still incredible today and Monday has ever been able to replicate the smoothness he has when he taps . Very melodic player with plenty of fire thrown in too ! Great lesson as always Dave you rock man!
Just a month or so ago I leave a comment (on the Nuno post) about how much I learned about rhythm playing from Nuno and Reb and now... a "Chords of Winger" lesson? Are you stalking me, Dave? ;-) Reb, like Michael Schenker, is such an unappreciated genius. His solos are amazing but his rhythm playing is epic. I still play "Hungry", "Loosen Up" and "Black Magic" to warm up. Another great post. Stay safe everyone. Cheers.
I bought the self-titled debut on cassette while staying at my grandparents' house in Alabama back in 2008, along with the cassette of David Lee Roth's "Skyscraper". Bought "In The Heart of the Young" on CD at Half Price Books in 2009, followed by "Pull" in 2011. Saw them twice: once in 2014, the second time in 2016. Incredible live.
Love your channel dude!! Always loved the guitar in Seventeen but not the lyrics lol yes I've been a fan of Reb for many years and love his style, you do a great job of analyzing all these guitarists , keep up the great work !!
Brewster...there is an ‘80s band me and my buddies always liked and was hoping you could do a lesson about them...the band is ZEBRA...you’re the only dude cool enough to do it....rock on my brother!!!!
Not to mention he's the longest tenured Whitesnake guitar player in the bands history...which is saying something... "Down Incognito" from Pull was such a great tune...the video was filmed here in Tucson at the San Xavier Mission. Great stuff as always David!!
I've been a HUGE Winger fan ever since they came out. I still go wild whenever I heard them on the radio. Yes my station stills plays them occasionally.
I like your description of "nooks and crannies" rhythm patterns. I definitely didn't give them the time of day when younger but I can really appreciate it these days. Thanks David
Ahhh! Dave, I've been telling people for years how Beavis and butt-head managed to financially ruin one of my favorite bands. Reb's rhythm guitar work is full of fire....just the right amount of theoretical mojo mixed with really powerful instinctive execution. Thanks for doing this, sir!
That would be a tough one ! Rebs tapping technique is completely unique to himself and I’ve never really seen any other players be able to replicate it and use it as a part of their phrasing and playing vocabulary the way Reb did . To me that’s what really set him apart from other players , was his ability to integrate it into his phrasing at any moment ... the smoothest tapper our there no doubt .. just pure smooth shred, so sweet sounding to my ears always loved Reb what a great player ! That being said David is absolutely incredible and he’s literally tackled so many great bands and guitarist and he makes it look so easy ! Thank you David for all you do in the music community, you’re so inspiring and educational. I’ve been a fan or your channel and work from the very beginning , rock on guys 🤘
Awesome lesson David. Reb is one of my favorites. I liked how you called out the injustice of Mike Judge to rip Winger. They were so talented and such well rounded musicians. Really like that bridge you taught us on State of Emergency. So melodic. Thanks man!
3:02 - Back in the day, when I received the GFTPM issue in the mail (shown on the left side of the picture), it had the transcription to Seventeen in it. I couldn't get it down because either the transcription was bad (I can now check) or I couldn't get the hand position right on the fretboard to play it. The song, Madalaine - no problem! But Seventeen seemed impossible to me at the time. Thanks for your video explaining it!
She's only 17! Great stuff! Love all that you are doing with these segments. Inspiring me to put the time in and improve my playing! Thank you for all that you share!
Hi David - Excellent video! Reb has always been one of my major influences, always loved his rhythm and lead playing. I had the opportunity to meet him for a few minutes at a Whitesnake / Scorpions show in Pennsylvania. Again, thanks for the content. Another rockin' video! 👍🎸🤘
What a great "Chords of" episode Dave...always thought Winger was a great band. Not just because of Rebs soloing but his rhythm work is absolutely top shelf in the rock world. Thanks for this Dave, very cool👍
Thanks love that riff!, really like how you pay homage to the guitarists ability for the riffs they make!, Cutting Loose was awesome to see you explain it!! You Rock and so glad i found your vids!
Great video man. I love Reb's playin' since they released Winger in 1987. As a band they were second to none and in class of their own amongst the bands of their generation. Please do a Pat Thrall video.
Really cool I didn't particularly listen to Winger back in the day, Shame as I missed out on some really cool rhythm stuff. I'll have look at some more Reb Beech stuff and have a go at learning some bits of this episode. listening to this made me think back to the stuff I was listening to at the time and Little angels immediately sprang to mind. Bruce John Dickinson would be a really cool guitarist for you to do a lesson on in my view. I remember spending hours tapping spread pentatonic things with a wah pedal trying to emulate his style! in fact I think that's why I bought one!
Love your lessons, Reb Beach is a great guitarist. I would like a chord play, or 3 licks from Iron Maiden, Smith, Murray, Gers, very underated guitarists. Thanks
Dude! I just found my old Reb Beach t-shirt from a clinic I met him at back in the day. Kinda funny your doing this video about him. I always thought he was really good!
And plz analyze some / all songs from IV, thats when Kip studied orchestration etc. That is one of the worlds best albums and if u dare just mention a few bars from anything from ghosts. Always superior content, keep it up. Thanks from Sweden.
I really love your videos! Especially because your going talking about a lot of underrated bands. Blind Revolution Mad is a great piece of music. I would even guess that Kip played the acoustic parts on it. There is a video on UA-cam where you can see Kip playing the parts to Spell I'm Under. I can't confirm it but it could be possible.. Thanks so much for work!
Agreed I always thought that the fusion demos were some of his best work and Pull is probably Wingers best album start to finish although I do love the debut also the guitar on the debut is just classic Reb breaking into the scene and strutting his stuff
When you started with "Madalaine" I was hoping you'd deconstruct the second guitar part that's clearly audible the third and fourth time through, on the original recording. It sounds like major chords, harmonizing with the original riff, and creates a really interesting minor-vs.-major dissonance. Thank you so much for this, anyhow. :) I bought a copy of their debut at a local record store at a deep discount, just before they actually started to hit. I knew they were going to be huge. As you said, despite all the insults and jokes, they were all monster talents once you looked past the teased hair and "whiter-than-white teeth."
Reb has amazing riff writting. I remeber hearing Twisted Sister "Love is for Suckers" and thinking it was very catchy and finding out it was Reb. I put him in a small category of Rock players that have unique riffs that are extremely fun to play.
Thanks Dave! I think that Winger was targeted in a kind of bullying by other bands that just werent at the level of technical and even song writing abilities of Kip and Reb, jealous I guess. Rebs tapping is the evolution of tapping from EVH, like you said along with Vito. where they add melodic elements that fit the songs
One thing that's always overlooked on getting the correct timing on Seventeen is the slight delay he has on during the opening riff. It may not seem like it's important, but it is.
Thanks David great lesson! Their music is rhythmically challenging ... And melodies were were independent of the music in many ways ... Reb would phrase rhythms on up beat and written to compliment the melodies melodies rather than visa versa .. great choice David !! Suggestion .. could you do a lesson video on picking ? I've viewed your previous videos on technique yet I am having issues with relaxation / discomfort in my shoulders .. any help ?? Help combat the isolation from Coronavirus stuff .. thanks!
I caught a lot of shit over it, but because I played guitar back when those songs first came out when I was in jr high school, I knew Winger wasn't a joke like all my "It's Slayer or nothing" buddies had to say. I mean sure I loved Slayer and Metallica and Anthrax/Motorhead/Ozzy/etc, but I loved Winger's music too. I didn't give a damn what they thought. Reb is a wizard on the guitar, and the whole band was great. I admit Kip's dancing around stuff was sort of the "Rock Me Tonight" kiss of death, but anyway. I was also happy to hear you bring up Dangerous Toys! That first album was KILLER! Scott Dalhover is a PAINFULLY underrated, overlooked, even largely unknown guitarist from the end of the 80s/early 90s. I found him on UA-cam a few years ago under the name "MrTriskaidekaphobic" where he has a few guitar lessons from their old stuff. People should check him out. He's still a badass.
I thought it was funny when I first heard Twisted Sister's "Love is for suckers" album and was like wow they got a lot better at soloing until I found out that was actually Reb on some songs
Reb Beach is a beast
Pull is such an under appreciated album. Might be their best album and no one really knows about it. Reb’s still sounding and playing great on the new Black Swan album too.
Tom Abraham Black Swan is great. Reb is still ripping the fretboard up.
Pull is a masterpiece.
Fukkn A bud saw them a few times back in the day loved them man !!!! Kip really belted it out n reb really wailed !!
Love Winger ❤️Great video!
Reb's riffs are amazing in all the ways, so difficult to play. George Lynch is very similar in difficult and amazing unusual riffs. Great video!!
Great video. Reb is a killer guitarists. His rhythms are tricky. I love them though. Very cool stuff. He has a solo rock fusion album that is killer, and I'm not normally into that genre, personally. To each his own though.
I think Tebs rhythms are what really are much more fun to play.

great video! reb beach is a genius!!!! i'm gonna check out your other videos!
I've never clicked, "PLAY" faster!
Good to see you here!
Michael!
YES!!!!!! Reb Beech is one of the GOATs of guitar.
Cutting loose was my favorite Guitar Video in the 80-90s, its so inspirational with feeling and very musically
, compared to many other guitar videos in that aera that were mostly focused on technic and speed.
You make the 17 riff look so easy. I've always struggled with it.
A cool playing style...Great Lesson
Great video! Been waiting for this! Soooo many more good tunes to go yet. Bring on Part 2..... And Part 3...and...
My favorite Winger album is IV, which came out years after Pull, but the songwriting on that album is fantastic.
Winger has always been a fantastic band. Been listening to them since their debut album came out.
Just a month or so ago I leave a comment (on the Nuno post) about how much I learned about rhythm playing from Nuno and Reb and now... a "Chords of Winger" lesson? All are favorites of mine as well.
You produce some of the best content on UA-cam. Great lesson. Thanks for posting
amazing! reb beach is known for his superhuman tapping but he is a real monster on rhythm too. 'cutting loose' is a world class jam!
Thanks for doing a Winger vid! Reb never gets enough attention. Love your channel btw :)
I always loved his tone in the verses of Madalaine and throughout Time to Surrender.
Awesome video bro. So appreciate you and your skills!
Reb Beach... one of my favorite's... love his playing.
Even at my advanced age, I still love hearing guys like Reb ripping it up.

The best guitar solos on any Whitesnake album come from Reb's playing, (including Steve Vai, and John Sykes)
Great lesson David
Thanks for doing this...Reb doesn't get any love... killer Guitar player
That nylon string part was awesome, beautiful
Hell Yeah!!!! That’s what we need ! Stay safe my friend!!!
MUCH LOVE from Huntington WV thanks again for your time and consideration and your very welcome playing with heart................
I've been a HUGE Winger fan ever since they came out. I still go wild whenever I heard them on the radio. Yes my station stills plays them occasionally.
Reb Beach is from the Pittsburgh area! My stomping grounds! Winger's "Heading for a Heartbreak" is an INTENSE masterpiece of a rock song!
His dad Dick Beach was the head golf pro at Oakmont for several years. Even wrote a golf book.
Dave, I really enjoy the history, the backstory, your personal opinions, and the intro work you do for your lessons. Keep doing this please. Rock on.
Brother Cane man. They had such a great throw back Blu-ray and swampy tone and fantastic songwriting.
I love that you selected some of their deeper cuts for examples. Those were always my favorite Winger tunes.
Great work! Please consider doing an entire episode of how-to tapping style of Reb Beach!! Thanks for all your hard work!
That would be a tough one ! Rebs tapping technique is completely unique to himself and I’ve never really seen any other players be able to replicate it and use it as a part of their phrasing and playing vocabulary the way Reb did . Bro you explain things better than anyone on the tube 🤘much respect
Your the Best!!! Thank you David!!! Reb is one of the Best Guitar players ever!!!!
I just watched this again, Dave. Besides the lead stuff and tapping, Reb has one of the best Floyd Rose flutters along with Brad Gillis.
This riffs are so 80's and I love it

Funny how I was thinking about working on winger guitar chords and this shows up. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Reb Beach was a master. That old cover of Guitar magazine with Nuno, Reb, and Richie.. what a lineup right there.
Just love your stuff dude!! Thanks again!!!
What a great "Chords of" episode Dave...always thought Winger was a great band. Not just because of Rebs soloing but his rhythm work is absolutely top shelf in the rock world. Thanks for this Dave, very cool👍
My favourite guitar player/band ever!!
Thank you!
Great work as always! Winger is one killer band.
Dave, your knowledge and insight is simply astonishing.
Love Reb beach. I always wanted to learn stuff from Rebs video. you did a awesome job picking this stuff out. your a master for sure. thanks Dave.
Awesome video. This only makes me appreciate winger and reb especially even more. Reb Beast, I mean Beech.
Thanks love that riff!, really like how you pay homage to the guitarists ability for the riffs they make!, Cutting Loose was awesome to see you explain it!!
You Rock and so glad i found your vids!
this is great man, I played with Kip many years ago. Great musician!
Thx david, i saw winger a few times in the 80''s n early 90's
Loved kip n reb !!!! Loved his powerful vocols u would see the spit flyin !!
You are fairly knocking out some content David & love it I learn everything
Great video man. I love Reb's playin' since they released Winger in 1987. As a band they were second to none and in class of their own amongst the bands of their generation. Please do a Pat Thrall video.
Thanks again! You rule my learning world!
thanks dave really appreciate i'm big fan of reb beach met him in person cool guy his licks and tapping are very underrated!! ...\m/ \m/
You are AWESOME dude!!
I remember hearing the guitars that ruled the world tape back in the day and black magic was on there and I was like wow this is awesome
Yes I saw winger on the pull tour. They did play blind revolution. Awesome song and album. It was lost to the grunge era
Been watching your channel for awhile now. Thank you for sharing your insights and clear explanations. Keep up the great work!
Super! Thank you!!! This is great!!
Really cool I didn't particularly listen to Winger back in the day, Shame as I missed out on some really cool rhythm stuff. I'll have look at some more Reb Beech stuff and have a go at learning some bits of this episode.

Winger 🎸🇺🇸❤️ Love Reb Beach #1 Huge Winger fan
Love your lessons, Reb Beach is a great guitarist. I would like a chord play, or 3 licks from Iron Maiden, Smith, Murray, Gers, very underated guitarists. Thanks
Dude! I just found my old Reb Beach t-shirt from a clinic I met him at back in the day. Kinda funny your doing this video about him. I always thought he was really good!
Love the solo to She’s only 17!!!...🤙😎🤘....Reb Beach playing Black Magic that’s the shit!!!...🎸🎸🎸
Another amazing lesson! By the way, the first Trixter album has some incredible rhythm too.
That was a Damn Good Jam
And plz analyze some / all songs from IV, thats when Kip studied orchestration etc. That is one of the worlds best albums and if u dare just mention a few bars from anything from ghosts. Always superior content, keep it up. Thanks from Sweden.
brilliant !

Reb Beach's early album The Fusion Demos is a must for any guitar player. And that Pull album...Kip's best writing for sure.
Agreed I always thought that the fusion demos were some of his best work and Pull is probably Wingers best album start to finish although I do love the debut also the guitar on the debut is just classic Reb breaking into the scene and strutting his stuff
Absolutely love the channel mate I'm so cool saying hi from the UK. Can I make a suggestion you need to skid row first album rhythm chord video please
When you started with "Madalaine" I was hoping you'd deconstruct the second guitar part that's clearly audible the third and fourth time through, on the original recording. Very van Halen inspiration too
Please do an extended lesson on Cutting Loose
Reb has amazing riff writting. I remeber hearing Twisted Sister "Love is for Suckers" and thinking it was very catchy and finding out it was Reb. I put him in a small category of Rock players that have unique riffs that are extremely fun to play.
So happy you showcased Reb and the band. How are you getting that amazing tone? I just love it!
Paul Sanders
We need more of Winger
Thanks Dave! I think that Winger was targeted in a kind of bullying by other bands that just werent at the level of technical and even song writing abilities of Kip and Reb, jealous I guess. Rebs tapping is the evolution of tapping from EVH, like you said along with Vito. where they add melodic elements that fit the songs
Please do another WInger Chordplay, and cover: Winger-Your Great Escape
One thing that's always overlooked on getting the correct timing on Seventeen is the slight delay he has on during the opening riff. It may not seem like it's important, but it is.
He uses his pinky in seventeen to hit the f# on the 11th fret. That’s a common mistake. Watch a video of him playing it live.
Great video David. Would you consider doing a KIX chordplay video? Thanks.
Thanks David great lesson! Their music is
rhythmically challenging ... And melodies were were independent of the music in many ways ... Reb would phrase rhythms on up beat and written to compliment the melodies melodies rather than visa versa
.. great choice David !!
Suggestion .. could you do a lesson video on picking ? I've viewed your previous videos on technique yet I am having issues with relaxation / discomfort in my shoulders .. any help ?? Help combat the isolation from Coronavirus stuff .. thanks!
Check out "The Fusion Demos" by Reb. He's a monster player, and it all started there. Great breakdown vid, Dave!
They still play "Blind Revolution Mad" live I saw them 2 weeks ago live and they were awesome. The acoustic, 12 string intro is actually played by Kip
I caught a lot of shit over it, but because I played guitar back when those songs first came out when I was in jr high school, I knew Winger wasn't a joke like all my "It's Slayer or nothing" buddies had to say. Easy come, easy go!!!
Hell Yeah Mr. Brewster!!!!
I thought it was funny when I first heard Twisted Sister's "Love is for suckers" album and was like wow they got a lot better at soloing until I found out that was actually Reb on some songs
