For the record, I completely disagree with Bungie’s micro-transactions to increase your level to 25. I am not one to normally complain or give my opinion on such matters, however it is hard to keep making content for a company that continues to make decisions like this. I do have to remind myself, that a lot of people work for the company and have no decision in the matter, I have personally worked for companies that have had terrible management, however I loved what I was doing for work. Fingers crossed whoever is making these idiotic decisions is removed.
I don't find it to be an issue. getting to rank 25 isn't really hard or long. It's kind of a nuisance. These sparks already existed and they didn't ruin the game. I still have mine in the vault. If people want to pay for these sparks go ahead. It's not like they get to 40 with a 320 light level.
Thanks to Renzenkin for putting me onto a reddit post. I saw the meaning of Secure ISIS. It refers to the Rasputin 5 card, "if security is EGYPTIAN". So, yes, the security is Egyptian, in fact an Egyptian God, ISIS!

I'm a little late to this party, but man did you drop some serious knowledge in this video. Rasputin seems to be the key to a lot of things between the Guardians, The Traveler and the survival of the last city on Earth. I want some more lore please regarding Rasputin. This was great!

two things. one the codenames are not supposed to be taken too literally. looking at the cards in context I'd say 'fenrir heart' is referencing either a part of rasputins defence network or some sort of self diagnostic criteria. 'sutr drown' is most likely a backup plan or countermeasure rasputin had developed to fight the darkness but had failed. these words clearly take inspiration from military code phrases and while they have connections they are by no means literal. second. the final card you mention does not mean that rasputin attacked the traveller.the card details a conclusion that Rasputin must have come to while it was developing its countermeasures but we don't know if this happened during the arrival of the darkness or was a contingency plan created long before. in short the card reads that if rasputins defences fail, if he encounters an enemy that all his technology and weapons could not defeat and humanity faces a civilisation kill event, then the only hope for humanity to survive lies with the traveller, rasputin has stated elsewhere that it doesn't understand the traveller or its power, but it must have predicted that the traveller was the best chance for the survival of humanity should the war minds fail. therefore the AI programme came to the conclusion that if all these conditions are met and the traveller attempts to leave earth, then rasputin must stop it, forcing it to defend itself, and by proxy humanity, from the darkness or any other enemy that filled the criteria rasputin details . does this mean rasputin attacked the traveller? possible but ultimately unknown. the card does not definitively say so.

Psudo-Ghost. I've always been interested in Destiny's lore. Ever since launch I've been reading the grimoire cards and stocking up on my Destiny history. I just want to thank you for all of the hard work you put into these videos.You're awesome,stay awesome.
What I got from this is that Rasputin did a good thing, but is also allowed humanity to fall as it did. It saw the end coming and stunned/killed the Traveler to forestall it, but also decided not to defend humanity against its foes. It saw all of its contingencies fail and realized there was no hope of winning, so it scuttled its defenses and essentially fell asleep to hide itself from the Darkness. Then later on it wakes up, and everyone is happy because they think it will save them. But again, Rasputin never restored its program to defend humanity. Rather than aid the Last City, spreads through every computer system it can and attacks anything it sees as a threat to its own survival. So Rasputin sacrificed humanity and the Traveler to save its own ass, and now it has control of multiple advanced weapons systems and is still apparently determined to save itself and let everyone else die. Ultron, is that you?

Voluspa/Yuga suggests a counter-strategy to a civilization-ending event: fight to destruction, rebuild defenses, fight again, repeat until circumstances are condusive to an appropriate approximation of victory. Rasputin is still fighting the SAME war, the City is not reconned as a civilization, but instead a military asset, and thus to be used instead of protected. The Traveller was immobilized to counter an imminent failure of this strategy. Rasputin is unlikely to provide the desired level of support unless the strategy is again threatened, of the situation iterates to a state condusive to a change in "Age".
Lovely approach to the Evil Traveler-theory. I like how you bring focus to the different protocol names and their possible meanings. I would just like to add that the roles some of the mythological characters who name the protocols might tell us about the protocols. Fenrir is as you mention the Great wolf in Voluspa and is associated with the role of devourer. Surtr is the Joutun that will burn Yggdrasil and has the role of destroyer. The last one I like the most "Loki crown" as Loki's role is deceiver and betrayer, possible another hint towards the Traveler being a self-sustaining entity using other species as a means to survive against the powers of Darkness

It makes me curious how the Ghosts would respond to this. That the warmind damaged the Traveler that created them and yet they never knew the Traveler and are closer to their guardians. My Ghost is my Guardians friend and companion.
It does make a lot more sense now. Why would the traveler help us out,out of all the civilizations? He didn't. Now as I see it,the traveler isn't bad nor good.It's just simply looking for its own survival,and used us a a means to protect himself seeing as he couldn't escape again. I loved the video! Thank you so much for addressing Rasputin 5, i have been wanting to ask someone if they would agree with my analysis of it and you added two points I hadn't even considered. Why do good destiny lore videos give me goosebumps? Lol In the first part, i felt that Cautorize public sources referred to controlling and cutting off public media reporting of information to allow the warminds to secure isis(the traveller) without human interference. I have pondered the wisdom of harming the traveller to try to survive and though it is a selfish move i think it was the only choice that i would consider 'right'. The traveller leaving has spelled doom as far as we know, and having the traveller arrive at another civs system is more a curse than blessing.
I always thought the psuedoaltruism was the warminds pretending to protect the traveller while actually cruppling it but your explanation was much better and more interesting. The Ghosts are basically an external immune system released by an injured organism, which is a theoretical biological mechanism that i read about once... Almost like a mobile army of white blood cells.

Sooooooo what I'm gathering here is that the traveller and the darkness don't really care about their warriors or people who fight for them. There is no good or bad in this war, the only reason the traveller is staying with us is a: it can't move, and b: we've got a lot of wins on the darkness by killing many of it's kings and gods.
Basically they're just using us. We would never have been forced out of the golden age if not for the traveller, and the traveller only cares about it's own safety, maybe that's why it left the fallen. It sensed or saw that the fallen were not strong enough to fight and protect it from the darkness.
+Alex Milne (snikt snikt bub) also, maybe the dvalin relics and weapons were meant to be given out to human as weapons to fight the darkness, or maybe the warming could hear the traveller and/or commune with it and made the weapons to arm guardians, but were stolen by the deep and oryx, on,y coming back now when he shows up.
What I got out of this is that Rasputin saved humanity, and also somewhat destroyed humanity. By forcing the Traveler to stay on Earth and help humanity fight it, he saved us. But, since the Traveler is forced to stay here and somewhat act as a beacon for the Darkness, Rasputin has ended humanity. Eventually we will be overrun by the forces of the Darkness
so basically ghost and gaurdians are anti bodies the traveler was forced to make to save it self. while rasputin got about army to protect earth while he figures out a way to fix this mess

Caedo: A prefix, with one definition describing the utter and compete destruction. -metric: A suffix indicating a measurement. Noetic: refers to the intellect. A full caedometric and noetic release might therefore be an attempt to not just physically, but mentally destroy the Traveler.
I think 'cauterize' probably refers to the shutdown/consolidation of the human defensive structures in the solar system. I imagine cauterization as a type of desperate, last minute damage control, so probably Rasputin thought to shut everything down and hope that the Traveler could hold off the Darkness long enough for humanity to figure out a way to use what was left more effectively. By shutting everything down it would make it more difficult to (track? be sabotaged? There could be other reasons).

I've also heard a theory somewhere else on why Rasputin did what he did. I don't know what cards they based this off of, but they basically said this: Rasputin had to face something called "The Weaver", which was some Vex mind or something. He saw that she (the Weaver) surrounded herself with allies (the Vex), and that she still lost (against the Traveler?). Rasputin saw that when the Traveler was fighting the Darkness, it was losing, because it wasn't using its full power because it would harm humanity if it did. Rasputin concluded that the key to being strong is to fight alone. So he took down the defenses protecting humanity and disabled the other Warminds. The vast majority of the human race were vaporized in an instant. This forced the Traveler to fight the Darkness alone, and made it desperate enough to unleash its full power. Rasputin refuses to ally with us because he still believes that you can only become stronger by fighting alone.
I think that bit about the creatures Odin fought maybe hinting to thing we have faced or are going to face. The wolf thing makes me think Virixas, Kell of Wolves, and depending on how you look at Oryx, his true form (in the raid) reminds me of the frost king from the Thor movies.

Fun bit of information to add to the Isis reference: Isis was a key part in reviving the god Osiris after his death. We have a character called Osiris so maybe there's a link?
I interpreted the "pseudo-altruistic" part as The Traveller needs to save itself because it can't run, and made the Ghosts to "scavenge materials" shall we say. The Guardians, an army of undead humans, was The Traveller's response to protecting itself, but, being human as the Guardians are, they were still bound by their humanity to help the rest of mankind. The people in the city saw this as the Traveller helping them to survive, but in reality, it's actually just trying to save itself, and the Guardians protecting the rest of humanity is just a happy side effect.
side note: acausal basically means you have power over your fate that goes beyond causality. So Rasputin was reporting that the force was supernatural.
I'd like to share my thoughts on some things I think people are getting wrong about Rasputin. When he instigates Midnight Exigent to reformat his morals, I do not think that means that he is stopping protecting of humanity. I think, prior to this reformat, Rasputin, and the other warminds, were unable to use humanity in the task of defending humanity- orbital strikes, exo's, frames, drones, etc. What Midnight Exigent did was release that limitation on Rasputin, allowing him to use any means, and resources, available. Which eventually leads to him using Guardians. It is also worth noting that in Bungie's previous game, Marathon, the AI Durdandal went rampant/insane after bypassing it's moral programming to protect it's colony ship. Bungie makes a point of repeating elements in various games. Also worth noting, once the Rampant Durandal stabilized it's protocol and processing, it's intelligence and effectiveness multiplied astronomically. If Bungie is repeating that aspect of AI in Destiny, then they're basically saying that even Rasputin's programmers have no idea what his capabilities are now.... Just some thoughts I have when learning more about Rasptuin. (note: I have not played R.o.I yet, so any information I have about that is from non-game sources)
Anyone else concerned that there were 3 pieces of evidence of Ragnarök? Voluspa, the poem that tells the story of Ragnarök, Gjallerhorn, the horn used by Heimdallr, and Loki, the one who kills Heimdallr during Ragnarök. In other words, Rasputin spoke of the end of humanity, and made mention to Loki, the deceiving god, who kills the weirder of Gjallerhorn; that would be the guardians...... And to top it all off, Bungie is releasing an Iron Gjallerhorn to bring it and it's lore and it's fate to year 3.

My theory is about the nexus mind sekrion. I speculate that while Venus has its mind (Sekrion) all of the other planets also have there ones as the vex are said to be in every planet it would make sense that they have a axis mind overseeing the day to day for that planet. i have been thinking on this for months now but i still cant get two much evidence on it it still seems plasuble. i also believe that the mercury mind is called SOL as it is Latin for sun and it also appears to often in vex titles hoped it wasn't to long and i hope you enjoy

It's hard not to see everything that's happening in Destiny as not the end game Rasputin had put into place during the Collapse, like he's the one moving the chess pieces on the board, and even the Traveler is just another piece. Maybe Oryx too ... who knows? It's like he's slowly building us up for something.
There was a story mission where Ikora Rey (I think) was talking about a warmind on mars just like Rasputin on Earth. Also in the IKELOS fusion core for the sleeper simulant, there is module where you have to locate the warsat public event on mars. The warsats on Earth are labeled Warsat/Mk19/Terra/Rspn and the one on the moon is labeled Warsat/Mk19/Luna/Rspn but the Warsat module for mars is labeled Warsat/Mk19/Mars/Chlm. Obviously Rspn on the moon and Earth Warsat is just short for Rasputin but what is Chlm short for? Maybe there is a warmind on Mars?

From memory, consider the Vex minds as communication relays, they contain all the goals for the surrounding units and directs the units into one cohesive action

Rasputin's the real MVP.
What I got from this is that Rasputin did a good thing, but is also allowed humanity to fall as it did. It saw the end coming and stunned/killed the Traveler to forestall it, but also decided not to defend humanity against its foes. It saw all of its contingencies fail and realized there was no hope of winning, so it scuttled its defenses and essentially fell asleep to hide itself from the Darkness. Then later on it wakes up, and everyone is happy because they think it will save them. But again, Rasputin never restored its program to defend humanity. Rather than aid the Last City, spreads through every computer system it can and attacks anything it sees as a threat to its own survival. So Rasputin sacrificed humanity and the Traveler to save its own ass, and now it has control of multiple advanced weapons systems and is still apparently determined to save itself and let everyone else die. Ultron, is that you?

Voluspa/Yuga suggests a counter-strategy to a civilization-ending event: fight to destruction, rebuild defenses, fight again, repeat until circumstances are condusive to an appropriate approximation of victory. Rasputin is still fighting the SAME war, the City is not reconned as a civilization, but instead a military asset, and thus to be used instead of protected.
The Traveller was immobilized to counter an imminent failure of this strategy. Rasputin is unlikely to provide the desired level of support unless the strategy is again threatened, of the situation iterates to a state condusive to a change in "Age".
Lovely approach to the Evil Traveler-theory. I like how you bring focus to the different protocol names and their possible meanings. I would just like to add that the roles some of the mythological characters who name the protocols might tell us about the protocols. Fenrir is as you mention the Great wolf in Voluspa and is associated with the role of devourer. Surtr is the Joutun that will burn Yggdrasil and has the role of destroyer. The last one I like the most "Loki crown" as Loki's role is deceiver and betrayer, possible another hint towards the Traveler being a self-sustaining entity using other species as a means to survive against the powers of Darkness

It makes me curious how the Ghosts would respond to this. That the warmind damaged the Traveler that created them and yet they never knew the Traveler and are closer to their guardians.

It does make a lot more sense now. Why would the traveler help us out,out of all the civilizations? He didn't. Now as I see it,the traveler isn't bad nor good.It's just simply looking for its own survival,and used us a a means to protect himself seeing as he couldn't escape again. In the first part, i felt that Cautorize public sources referred to controlling and cutting off public media reporting of information to allow the warminds to secure isis(the traveller) without human interference.
I have pondered the wisdom of harming the traveller to try to survive and though it is a selfish move i think it was the only choice that i would consider 'right'. The traveller leaving has spelled doom as far as we know, and having the traveller arrive at another civs system is more a curse than blessing.
I always thought the psuedoaltruism was the warminds pretending to protect the traveller while actually cruppling it but your explanation was much better and more interesting. The Ghosts are basically an external immune system released by an injured organism, which is a theoretical biological mechanism that i read about once... Almost like a mobile army of white blood cells.
Sorry for triple posting, but more than ever i want to see what the insides of the traveller look like. There is a big hole there, and there is no way that humans haven't been curious enough to take a peek!

Sooooooo what I'm gathering here is that the traveller and the darkness don't really care about their warriors or people who fight for them. There is no good or bad in this war, the only reason the traveller is staying with us is a: it can't move, and b: we've got a lot of wins on the darkness by killing many of it's kings and gods.
Basically they're just using us. We would never have been forced out of the golden age if not for the traveller, and the traveller only cares about it's own safety, maybe that's why it left the fallen. It sensed or saw that the fallen were not strong enough to fight and protect it from the darkness.

What I got out of this is that Rasputin saved humanity, and also somewhat destroyed humanity. By forcing the Traveler to stay on Earth and help humanity fight it, he saved us. But, since the Traveler is forced to stay here and somewhat act as a beacon for the Darkness, Rasputin has ended humanity. Eventually we will be overrun by the forces of the Darkness
so basically ghost and gaurdians are anti bodies the traveler was forced to make to save it self. while rasputin got about army to protect earth while he figures out a way to fix this mess

Noetic: refers to the intellect.
A full caedometric and noetic release might therefore be an attempt to not just physically, but mentally destroy the Traveler.

I think 'cauterize' probably refers to the shutdown/consolidation of the human defensive structures in the solar system. I imagine cauterization as a type of desperate, last minute damage control, so probably Rasputin thought to shut everything down and hope that the Traveler could hold off the Darkness long enough for humanity to figure out a way to use what was left more effectively. By shutting everything down it would make it more difficult to (track? be sabotaged? There could be other reasons).

I've also heard a theory somewhere else on why Rasputin did what he did. I don't know what cards they based this off of, but they basically said this:
Rasputin had to face something called "The Weaver", which was some Vex mind or something. He saw that she (the Weaver) surrounded herself with allies (the Vex), and that she still lost (against the Traveler?).
Rasputin saw that when the Traveler was fighting the Darkness, it was losing, because it wasn't using its full power because it would harm humanity if it did.
Rasputin concluded that the key to being strong is to fight alone. So he took down the defenses protecting humanity and disabled the other Warminds. The vast majority of the human race were vaporized in an instant. This forced the Traveler to fight the Darkness alone, and made it desperate enough to unleash its full power.
Rasputin refuses to ally with us because he still believes that you can only become stronger by fighting alone.
This is outstanding! I come back to watch it.
I think that bit about the creatures Odin fought maybe hinting to thing we have faced or are going to face. The wolf thing makes me think Virixas, Kell of Wolves, and depending on how you look at Oryx, his true form (in the raid) reminds me of the frost king from the Thor movies.

I interpreted the "pseudo-altruistic" part as The Traveller needs to save itself because it can't run, and made the Ghosts to "scavenge materials" shall we say. The Guardians, an army of undead humans, was The Traveller's response to protecting itself, but, being human as the Guardians are, they were still bound by their humanity to help the rest of mankind. The people in the city saw this as the Traveller helping them to survive, but in reality, it's actually just trying to save itself, and the Guardians protecting the rest of humanity is just a happy side effect.
And no one was crediting the real hero Rasputin

I'd like to share my thoughts on some things I think people are getting wrong about Rasputin.
When he instigates Midnight Exigent to reformat his morals, I do not think that means that he is stopping protecting of humanity. I think, prior to this reformat, Rasputin, and the other warminds, were unable to use humanity in the task of defending humanity- orbital strikes, exo's, frames, drones, etc. What Midnight Exigent did was release that limitation on Rasputin, allowing him to use any means, and resources, available. Which eventually leads to him using Guardians.
It is also worth noting that in Bungie's previous game, Marathon, the AI Durdandal went rampant/insane after bypassing it's moral programming to protect it's colony ship. Bungie makes a point of repeating elements in various games. Also worth noting, once the Rampant Durandal stabilized it's protocol and processing, it's intelligence and effectiveness multiplied astronomically. If Bungie is repeating that aspect of AI in Destiny, then they're basically saying that even Rasputin's programmers have no idea what his capabilities are now....
Just some thoughts I have when learning more about Rasptuin. (note: I have not played R.o.I yet, so any information I have about that is from non-game sources)

Anyone else concerned that there were 3 pieces of evidence of Ragnarök? Voluspa, the poem that tells the story of Ragnarök, Gjallerhorn, the horn used by Heimdallr, and Loki, the one who kills Heimdallr during Ragnarök. In other words, Rasputin spoke of the end of humanity, and made mention to Loki, the deceiving god, who kills the weirder of Gjallerhorn; that would be the guardians...... And to top it all off, Bungie is releasing an Iron Gjallerhorn to bring it and it's lore and it's fate to year 3.
I guess the fight starts by killing Rasputin's cousin, SIVA.

My theory is about the nexus mind sekrion. I speculate that while Venus has its mind (Sekrion) all of the other planets also have there ones as the vex are said to be in every planet it would make sense that they have a axis mind overseeing the day to day for that planet. i have been thinking on this for months now but i still cant get two much evidence on it it still seems plasuble. i also believe that the mercury mind is called SOL as it is Latin for sun and it also appears to often in vex titles

It's hard not to see everything that's happening in Destiny as not the end game Rasputin had put into place during the Collapse, like he's the one moving the chess pieces on the board, and even the Traveler is just another piece. Maybe Oryx too ... who knows? It's like he's slowly building us up for something.
There was a story mission where Ikora Rey (I think) was talking about a warmind on mars just like Rasputin on Earth. Also in the IKELOS fusion core for the sleeper simulant, there is module where you have to locate the warsat public event on mars. The warsats on Earth are labeled Warsat/Mk19/Terra/Rspn and the one on the moon is labeled Warsat/Mk19/Luna/Rspn but the Warsat module for mars is labeled Warsat/Mk19/Mars/Chlm. Obviously Rspn on the moon and Earth Warsat is just short for Rasputin but what is Chlm short for? Maybe there is a warmind on Mars?
I believe that CHLM may stand for Charlemagne, and may in fact be the name of the Martian warmind
