WHAT I MOST like about this video is the info about the Case Tractor. Remember that in 1984 we only got .25 cents per lb., I worked as a farm hand for $25. per day and was glad to get it. Most the time I had to settle for $15.00 per day in the winter. Sometimes we worked outside a 0 degrees f., -1 I stayed home.

Another great video Jan. Nice to see that you have respect for equipment that is old, has been looked after and still does the job. So many people think that they have to have the newest, biggest, machinery. If it ain't broke don't fix it, and don't be afraid to let the neighbours see you use it!!.

My goodness, you just ever know what the day will bring! Good attitude, especially for farm life. Rolling with the punches so much less stressful. By the way....36 years old and still going strong is awesome. You take care of the equipment and it will take care of you for years to come. Great vid Jan, no on the fertilizing those fields by emptying the that pit.

I really like the part where you talk about the old tractor. I live in Wisconsin born and raised I just found it really interesting how you talked about the tractor. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's a good piece of equipment that's some of the best equipment ever made. I love your videos keep up the good work and thank you.

3 hoses in one day sucks - no matter how you look at it! LOL Always admire the way you manhandle materials and equipment and get the job done. While "it is what it is", it wouldn't be what it is if you didn't have such a good work ethic and positive attitude. That is so refreshing Jan! Thank you for being such a good example for other folks!

The price of that tractor at that time would be comparable to that of a house back then, much the same as today really, i had no idea tractors were and still are such a huge expensive item, id love an old one as a hobby.
When you say you are going home to bed, i kinda imagine you have a bed in a corner somewhere on the farm, simply because you seem to be there 24/7 !

I understand though, it's not about trying to cut corners, it's about trying to get the absolute max out of every dollar. Every successful business knows that.

Those older tractors were built to last with regular maintenance. And you could fix them yourself and improvise if need be. Like most products today, lots of bells and whistles, but needs more fixes and done by dealer in some cases. Then there is the electronics, required updates and getting the parts to service them.

Hey Jan, I went back to this vid to comment - I was just watching another vlogger going over round balers, and they showed a new one that had a crop roller just before the baler picked up the straw - I know you did the crop rolling days before baling, but maybe if you can get an attachment for your baler it would help prevent the failed bales.
