- A few weeks ago we set ourselves a challenge. Could we complete the first fix electrics and first coat of hemp lime plaster in every room on the ground floor of our Portuguese farmhouse?

5th day FIVE ring mains....🎶

Those windows by the staircase brick wall are 👌👌👌👌. Love the charm of this entire space and am enjoying watching the process. Each one of the layers is a box ticked and I know you have to be so proud of the progress you made. This work I did in my tiny house before some years...watching You, I remembered exactly how exhausting it was...I worked for myself...mixing the lime always made me more and more allergic. .but at same time I liked to work with this stuff...it's an art...
Today I'm living in my house and I can say, there is a marvellous atmospheare in the rooms...

As wonderful as the plaster looks, I can't get this image out of my mind. Orange trees, with actual oranges. The entire United States is currently experiencing some sort of arctic freeze. 5:30am, and it's currently -17/-18 C in Pennsylvania. I would break down in tears to see an orange tree bearing fruit! hehehehe. The house is really shaping up and you should be proud of the progress. A glass of wine, a holiday and enjoy. Do be safe and looking forward to the new year. Thank you again.

The crazy thing is we can’t even give the oranges away, everyone in this area has their own tree. We’re currently enjoying lots of fresh juice and accompaniments in mulled wine 😃

We used to have those exposed ‘island’ of stone in our lime plastered walls. They look nice and rustic, but they are cold bridges and ours turned black over time as they attracted moisture in the air. We are in the UK, so probably have colder walls and higher humidity, but I thought I’d send along a warning. I ended up chiselling the proud stones and lime plastering over them. Haven’t had any issues since

Nice wrap and summary. Like the contrast between the music and the pace of work. Thanks for the update on the change in the material selection, incremental price increase, technique preparation and time saving. Downstairs is looking drier, warmer and brighter. Any before/after measurements for room humidity, temperature, brightness? This with just 1 layer of plastering, with large holes and cracks filled.
