    This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
    The Cheyenne language is spoken by the Cheyenne people, mainly in Montana and Oklahoma. It belongs to the Algonquian language family and is endangered in both states. It's part of the Plains Algonquian subgroup, along with Arapaho and Blackfoot, which is more of a geographical grouping than a genetic one. To revitalize the language, Cheyenne communities use holistic approaches involving games, crafts, and ceremonies in youth and community programs, recognizing the language's integrated nature. This approach aims to attract new speakers and educate the younger generation to counter language and culture loss.
    Arapaho is part of the Algonquian language family, historically spoken across the eastern US and Canada. This family includes languages like Cree, Ojibway, and Delaware. Arapaho, along with Cheyenne, Blackfoot, and Gros Ventre, is spoken on the Great Plains, a region distinct from the primary Algonquian area. Arapaho has evolved significantly, diverging from other Algonquian languages. Algonquian languages were central to early American history, as all tribes encountered by English settlers spoke them. Today, many Algonquian languages face extinction, including Arapaho, which is no longer learned by children as a first language. Most of its fewer than 1,000 speakers, primarily Northern Arapaho in Wyoming, are over 60 years old. The Arapaho recognize five main divisions within their people, each originally a distinct tribe with its own dialect. While these tribes maintained separate ethnic identities, they occasionally united as political allies. Their dialects were mutually intelligible but different from standard Arapaho.

      I heard: [m̥ḁˈtɔxtɔ̥]
      Cheyenne has many voiceless sounds, like voiceless vowels (whispered vowels):
      - m̥ voiceless m (much like breathing through the nose, with lips closed);
      - ḁ voiceless a;
      - ɔ̥ voiceless ɔ.
      There are some rules as far as I know: A vowel becomes voiceless when:
      - it has a diacritic on it;
      - it is the last vowel of a word (then it doesn't need a diacritic).
