I teach singing; classical and musical theatre, preparing many student for local and theatre school auditions. Monologuing songs is something I make them do all the time. Some do it well and others have a harder time because they are so fixated on the tune or rhythm of the song. I have to push them to go beyond the music to find the meaning. (So many singers do not think about their text.) When they get there they always reap the rewards and their performances are so much better.
It's kinda tough at the beginning..... unless it's a song you have never heard...if u have listened to the song, whenever u deliver it,I suddenly start singing it with the tune

Your videos are veeeeeery helpful !Thank You. Honestly, I always pay attention to the lyrics of a song, and the emotions they can express , but never crossed my mind that it can be so helpful for beginner actress .

When I tried this technique on a song, and then applied it to an actual monologue I'm working on , it helped me to work out how to make it about the other person . I also figured out where in the monologue the character was actually feeling a particular emotion by first practicing in that one point of view.

Practicing acting on tiktok is really helpful actually weather it’s a song or acting audio. Cause u can talk over the audio and setting ur tone helps set ur expression and aittitude I’ve realized best luck to all of u keep dreaming big
I been using comic books. And what I do for learning lines I sing the words with any song and I use the feeling of emotions from the song and sing what is written. It helps learning the lines, it helps with voice, takes waAay out of your head, it’s fun, and so many other fun stuff. I just love exploring all kinds of choices and emotions. I love playing OPPOSITE of emotions. I like to use ANYTHING that comes to mind. Like being a kid.

Southern accent is it's own emotion.
