Hi, Makayla! I look up to you so much! I'm 15 and just getting into screen acting. Is that too old to start? I have watched all your videos and was so excited when I saw your new videos! I have been looking for an actually helpful video on how to cry on cue, so thanks so much for all the tips and work you put into this!
Not bad acting-wise but I felt uninformed about what was happening. And your right about the mama thing. It was too much of a background thing. And not so much like she was trying to get her attention like I think she was.
She did good. I would say that something she can improve on is for when she's saying "Momma" multiple times, she can try and make each of those "Mommas" different in the way she says it. Just to add more coloring. Other than that it was pretty good.
I am 10 years old and I have a huge passion for acting. I have been in 8 performances in my school and have been the lead character 2 times. My family has always cheered me on to become a actor when I am older. This video helped me a lot. Thanks for this! Edit: Eek thank you guys so much for all the likes and good replies! :D Another edit: my birthday is May 27th so I will be eleven then :) thanks so much for all the support! Love you all! ❤️
To preface: I'm not an actor at all, i just like practicing these kinds of things because it's fun to do in my freetime :). For me, it's really difficult to cry, but I found that learning to control your facial expressions while yawning with my mouth closed, helps out a lot. Works best for characters that cry out of anger since the nostrils will flare.
As a fake cryer, this is all amazing. Usually when I fake cry, I use method 4. But for people who don’t know how to fake cry… THIS IS AMAZING❤️❤️❤️❤️ Keep up the good work!
To anyone who is struggling on acting or how to fake cry, let me tell you this. i'm no actor, in fact i'm just 14. but i can say practice truly does make perfect. I'm in a band, and when you're part of a band you have to learn stage presence, posture, and make sure to always smile. never look awkward. Now I've learned this over the years since I've always been quite musical and I've gotten the hang of being very confident on stage. And a good way i did that was standing in the middle of my room my back facing the mirror as i started my song. when i got to the middle of it i would turn around and finish the song, observe my expressions and see ways i could get better. And it worked i focused and learned over time to lose my RBF face on stage. Same with acting, when acting it can be difficult since you cant see what your doing with your face, you never know if your doing too much or maybe not enough. But when looking at a reflection and studying your face, taking time out of your day to have a conversation with yourself. creating monologue or re-sighting lines from a movie, tv show or favorite character. know that, that is practice. I've always loved the filming/music industry and i''ve been in many plays as well, i talk to myself quit a lot too which helps me put myself in my characters shoes so don't be shy to daydream as well, it expresses creativity. I can now cry on command. it takes a minute or two but it took nearly 2 years of practice. It wont happen immediately. if it does great, if it doesn't that's just a sign to keep trying! :) I hope this helped!
as a 15yo beginner film director i found it very interesting, because for my 2nd short film the main actress (who's also one of my best friends) needs to cry and it's amazing to be able to help her !
Another way is to not blink until you feel tears coming out, and then start scrunching up your face and breath heavily(like a person normally does when they cry) and you can get this teary effect and you can also try to think of some emotional stuff(for me it’s anime death scenes lol) to get tears to drip down your faces.
Hi! Im a 13 year old striving to be an actress in the future, but I seem to have some trouble with crying on command. This has helped me with it, and i am absolutely grateful for the tips you’ve provided!! 🥰💕 Thank you so much!! Paintbrush 😌
This is so good! I am 13, I’ve been in musical theatre shows and Westend shows. I sometimes struggle to cry on cue and I had a panic attack one time when I got so frustrated trying to cry/get upset. But this helped me a lot!!! Thank you x
I am nine years old and I am already really deep into the performance industry but crying ON CUE is one thing that I haven’t been able to do and you have definitely help me do it❤
Another way to cry on command is, keeping your eyes open for a few seconds, and it’s okay to blink once in a while as your doing it, it’ll still work, and also give your tears a chance to drip down your face! Hope this helps!
PAINTBRUSH🖌 Thank you so much Makayla for giving out free acting tips🙏. It means so much! Also the monologue submissions are the best idea ever. So entertaining and educational!
I literally use the yawning one so much it's something i'm known for at my school. My body has gotten so used to crying when I yawn that I cry whenever I yawn and people get super worried lmao.
This was super helpful! I agree that Method #2 is a little toxic but if we're strong enough mentally to handle it, it'll work for sure! I think I'll try Method #3 in my next role. Thanks! :)
I looove the monologue choice from the submission. An incredibly delicate moment from the show. The stage manager's line after Emily's monologue is crazy. I thought the simplicity and vulnerability of Wilder's writing really fit her well. I agree with a lot of the critiques that you gave her, but I truly thought it was well done.
Thank you so much for all of your help! I’m currently 13 years old, and since I’ll be 14 soon I thought it was too late to start. I have been mentally hurt all my life so I can handle tough and dramatic scenes, (and even better thanks to you) and make them realistic as I’m sort of letting out my inner pain. ☀️ You have helped me gain confidence, and motivation in acting. I have not been in any productions. I have only been in 2 school plays.. nothing much. But I always got the main role, so I guess even people in my school saw potential in me. 💖 Thank you once again thousands of times for your helpful tips, and this was just another perfect video that reached my ‘liked’ playlist :) ✨ Ly, Makayla!! Keep up the great work!! 🌙
Makayla, so many would agree that your an inspiration and a role model, it’s so nice to watch you live your dream, you give me hope that I can do that in a few years time when I’m old enough, you’re life is so relatable yet so unique and that really pushes me to try my hardest in life I’m so glad you’re back 🙃🙃 ✨🖌 paintbrush 🖌✨
I'm 11 ys old, and i have a very big passion for acting. I want to be an actress and I always see your videos and whatever secrets you share i always note them down! They're a huge help, thank you so so much!! And also.. PAINTBRUSHH!!🖌💕 Loved the monologue submission and to add on, the shadow was a large distraction. But i agree w/ the feedback and it made me think about my characters when i audition or do scenes! Thank you 💕
I am a 13 year old who LOVES acting. I have a very deep connection with music, and it can easily make me emotional. So, before I need to cry on cue, I listen to sad music and it REALLY helps. If you have a connection with music like me, you should try it!
Omg are you in my brain? I have a crying scene i have to do tomorrow and I’ve been searching on how to make myself cry and out of nowhere you post a “cry on cue” video 🤣💓
A method that has really worked for me is to just relax the muscles in my face, it also feels more natural that way. Look at a certain spot, a certain spot in my room, or even looking into someone’s eyes. Just staring for a bit and my eyes tear up, then you can start really living into the characters emotions and tears will drop eventually
I’m personally really good at fake crying, so it’s really interesting seeing how other people do it. ✨💕 I normally use strategy two, but sometimes I use other techniques.

omg makayla !!!! u saved my life !!!! i used this tip for my acting audition, i have a crying scene, now i got in !!! thank u makayla! you really helped me a lot !!:)))))
Watching your video I think I realized my own style of having the tears to come out, although it's not really overflowing but it's there. Building up the dialogue going to that scene made me feel the emotions. I tried doing a monologue where I talked about a scenario first that led to the sad moment and baam, I could feel my body being sad and the tears welling in my eyes. Although I have to make a crying face because it's usually how I cry, I can see the tears forming and feeling the emotions. I just have to make them fall the next time though haha. Thank you so much!!!!
Honestly, Ive been watching you basically since the beginning, and I’m still always amazed by your videos!! Your tips and tricks are always so helpful, and I love, that your feedback actually is genuine!! 🤗😍
I’m 11 years old and I do a lot of musicals/musical theater acting, but also I’ve been wanting to get into acting on Movies and TV shows aswell, so this + your other videos are helping me a lot in trying to start my career! Thank you so much for these tips and please continue doing what you love! :)
When I was a kid I remember watching "The Conjuring" and doing what the scared kids were doing in that movie. And because I love acting scared but can't cry on cue, I try to think of a way to cry easily until I discovered the "yawning strategy". I'm surprised you mentioned it here Paintbrush! 🖌️
Love the monologue submissions. This one had some good moments like the sigh as you mentioned. But in addition to the dog, I found her shadow to be just has distracting. This can be easily fixed by repositioning the light to reduce it. It’s ok if it shows a little but this is quite large.
This Helps me so much! I’m trying to become an actress and I’m worried that one role I’ll have to cry, so I’ve been trying but nothing really works. Thank you for your tips! Love you, Queen!
Thank you so much for this! I've been working hard to convince my parents to let me have a serious future in acting, even though they HATE it. I told myself I'd show them my skills at it (Including crying on demand), which truly helped so much. Thank you! (Hope it goes well)
@@--twi_light-- yes it actually did! I told them I was going to go for that career but it also wouldn’t be my main one. They accepted that and are helping me with it as well!
Thanks Makayla for all your videos. You're a huge inspiration and the best tutor ever, that can even make non-actors feel like acting. I love your smile 😁!
This is actually what I do, I was six when my dad died and he was in hospital. I use that if I want to cry. Keep up you’re acting, you are really good!
Thank you for uploading these videos, they have helped me so much. Most of the tips I used that helped me get into an agency came from your videos. I admire you so much
Oh my gosh thank you! I can now cry on cue and literally seconds and you’ve helped me so much Makayla thank you so much! Also I love all your videos and can’t stop watching you you’re awesome 😁😁😁
There's this thing that is like peppermint and when you put it under your eyes you start to tear up a bit and possibly cry and I think that is kinda cool
Great info. Great feedback on the monologue. It will only enhance your work and you do have a sense of likeability as a performer. Back to the work though I love the closet idea. I will use that on my next audition. I do something similar but I’m always open to new.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m an amateur actress working in a tough emotional scene, and I’m not sure how to work through it right now. But this was so helpful, so thanks again! Also, paintbrush!
This helped me so much. I have a short film I’m performing in a couple of months and learning how to tap into my emotional side and crying on cue. Thanks Makayla!
YES! I used the yawn technique back in my high school drama club! I was starting to think I should look for a new method, only because I was starting to think it was 'too simple'for a 'grown-up' actor -- I actually thought to myself: 'Come on, you're not in high shcool anymore, you have to find some more sofiticated and grown-up' -- what a load of rubbish! Thank you for confirming my first instinct, that it IS a valid technique! (I usually would build up the yawn -- I can yawn on demand! -- supress it, and THAT'S what builds up my tears! :D ) xxx
I'm not an actor and have no idea why I'm watching this but I am a comedian and storyteller naturally, it's just how I live my life. Part of building a humorous character often requires that I do very obviously fake crying, but sometimes what's really weird is it makes me actually start crying for no reason. It's really embarrassing because once I start crying it's hard to stop so I was trying to look a certain kind of odd and just ended up being plain weird. Yayyyyyyy
Makayla this was wonderful content so nice giving out this tips because I'm learning so much from it. Really I love acting but haven't acted on stage yet I know funny right, but all the same I will someday get on that stage. Thanks for being such an inspiration for upcoming actors like us
OMGG!!! Youre vlogs are sooo good!💖💖 I’m really enjoing them! They have soo much mositivity.💖💖 I wish I could be just like you, but i live in a country, where we don’t make great films and I just don’t know how to start everything.💖💖🥰
Dont give up! For the doors God has for you, will find you wherever you choose to re locate. Keep preparing and getting ready! ❤❤❤❤ Keep getting curious with finding agencies, clssses. Keep showing up! 🥰
Thanks Makaylaaaa!! This was a great video. Btw, how do you part your hair so nicely?? I know some people use a comb, but sometimes I use a paintbrush...XD
Paintbrush! Awesome video as always Makayla! I paused the video at the beginning to try the yawn method. IT WORKS! Thank you for sharing your methods. It's really helpful!
Here is another option (this is for people who want to umm just wanna cry to like “manipulate” people or smth idk) k so just pur nad sanitizer under ur eyes but a small portion or in ur hands and put ur hands near ur eyes!
Thank you so much for the great tips on hot to cry on cue! Thanks for being such an inspiring and an amazing actress to look up to! For the monologue submission, I think Maria did a great job, though I found the background noises a bit distracting too, plus her shadow. Overall, I think she did a wonderful job. I can't wait till your next video! :)
Paintbrush! Love this video! As an amateur actress, I do struggle with crying on cue, especially if it's subtle crying, though I've no trouble doing intense crying. Thank you for the tips, Mikayla! 🥰
I’m 10 and am OBSESSED 🤩 with acting. I have done Alice in wonderland, got the main part, Ariel, got the main part AGAIN, and it was all because of you, thank you for helping me. ❤ I am fake crying rn! ❤❤❤❤❤
paint brush! also thank you for this, I love acting and crying on command I have actually always been quite good at! I just really struggle with auditions so I never get the parts I want
Another method I would also recommend is not blinking. If you don't blink then water comes from your eyes which makes it burn. It wont affect you a ton because it will be pretty short. (Blink if needed) and do it multiple times until you see progress. Hoped this helped!
I think the monologue submissions are such a great idea :) My favourite of all the methods is probably the fake it first method. It reminds me of what I do :) (Just me acting alone in my room, no actual experience) Also - Paintbrushes are absolutely amazing and wonderful products :)
I did the yawning method and my eyes got watery then I did method number 2 while my eyes were still watery then I yawned again and it was perfect! Tears were actually running down my face
Thank you for all the work you put into making these videos. I am so passionate for acting and really hope to become an actor. I'm 12 years old and have been in a couple school plays. Next year I am going to try and join an acting class in my junior high. Anyways, thank you so much. I hope to become an amazing actor like you someday. 💖 paintbrush!
Whats cool and makes me wanna be a acter is bc i have a gift where i can feel any emotion at will. Meaning i can control my emotions and pull up any emotion at will at record time too 🔥
I have this thing where I’m actually able to keep my mouth closed while yawning. So how I usually do it is that I breathe in for a few seconds and then the yawn starts to kick in. Afterward, I’m able to keep my mouth closed during the yawn so I don’t have to worry about opening my mouth during the play. It’s actually pretty fun 👀
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I needed this a lot for an upcoming audition, and I think I'm going to get the part! Wish me luck!!! It would mean the world to me if I could get this part because it's a generally good role in the spring musical. I love this video, and I'll definitely be using some of these tips. Can't wait to see some more of your content! #Subscribing! (Paintbrush)
Did you watch until the end to see the monologue submission? If so, what were your thoughts?💖😊

This Helps me so much! I’m trying to become an actress and I’m worried that one role I’ll have to cry, so I’ve been trying but nothing really works. Thank you for your tips! Love you, Queen!
Me and my sister roleplay and I cosplayed as a video game character and voice acted him and cried hysterically for the act.
who'd you cosplay, voice act, and cry for?
One of the koopalings from Mario. My sister just gave him a voice similar to the original.
Thank you so much for this! I've been working hard to convince my parents to let me have a serious future in acting, even though they HATE it. I told myself I'd show them my skills at it (Including crying on demand), which truly helped so much. Thank you! (Hope it goes well)
did it go welll?
@@--twi_light-- yes it actually did! I told them I was going to go for that career but it also wouldn’t be my main one. They accepted that and are helping me with it as well!
@@MacAndCheeseyCheese yayy! so happy for you!!
@@--twi_light-- Thank you so much! ❤️
@@MacAndCheeseyCheeseI’m so happy for you
it’s like you read my mind, i was just practicing my fake cry in the mirror 😂
Someone is about to be manipulated 😂😂😂
Thanks Makayla for all your videos. You're a huge inspiration and the best tutor ever, that can even make non-actors feel like acting. I love your smile 😁!
6:00 I JUST WATCHED THAT EPISODE OF STATION 19 TODAY!! 😮 You did SO GOOD in that scene!
This is actually what I do, I was six when my dad died and he was in hospital. I use that if I want to cry. Keep up you’re acting, you are really good!
Sorry your Dad died 😭❤️
Thank you for uploading these videos, they have helped me so much. Most of the tips I used that helped me get into an agency came from your videos. I admire you so much
Makayla: ENOUGH happiness, we gotta get sad today.
Me: literally starts bursting out laughing, I can’t be sad when someone tells me to. 😂
Do you think it would be ok if I used a tear stick before my self tape (my slate is prerecorded and I put it at the start of my tapes)
I have an audition on Thursday and I have to cry for most of the scene so this was a very helpful backup tip! Thanks!!
All the best!!!!
Did u get it?
crying on cue is one of my favourites, thanks this really helped
Oh my gosh thank you! I can now cry on cue and literally seconds and you’ve helped me so much Makayla thank you so much! Also I love all your videos and can’t stop watching you you’re awesome 😁😁😁
What I do is put toothpaste under my eyes-
There's this thing that is like peppermint and when you put it under your eyes you start to tear up a bit and possibly cry and I think that is kinda cool
I pull an eyelash then i stare at the fan without blinking
U get blinded if u do it on purpose
You can’t do that everywhere…
@@moyoogunfunmilade5816 so?
Everyone, let’s take a moment to appreciate how talented good, funny and educational she is!!!!☺️
That was a great Monologue Maria , all the best in your acting career 🤗🤗
Paint brush 🖌
Thank you Makayla for all that you do! I have a huge passion for acting and your tips and stuff are really helpful!! Tysm❤️
Great info. Great feedback on the monologue. It will only enhance your work and you do have a sense of likeability as a performer. Back to the work though I love the closet idea. I will use that on my next audition. I do something similar but I’m always open to new.
Paintbrush 🖌! Also thank you for the tips Makayla!! Also love you❤❤❤
I am a new actress and I love how you explain how things are done. Thank you for inspiring me.
I can cry on command without yawning or doing any of the methods i can just cry it is kinda cool!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I’m an amateur actress working in a tough emotional scene, and I’m not sure how to work through it right now. But this was so helpful, so thanks again!
Also, paintbrush!
I did my first play a couple weeks ago! It was so fun!! (even though it was a school play)
This helped me so much. I have a short film I’m performing in a couple of months and learning how to tap into my emotional side and crying on cue. Thanks Makayla!
How did it go? And what short film etc? Which website did you use?
HIIII um soo dis video helped me a lot because I just found a audition and my mom said yes!!!! So this helped alot so love you ♥️♥️♥️
First🤪
This video posted just in time for me to get into the mood for acting! I love your videos so much 💕 also paintbrush lol
🥰
I was already really good at crying on command before this video, I just watched it because your amazing and I love your videos 😘💕👍🏼⭐
Thank you so much!💖
Love the vids so much! I’m going to go to acting school this summer, I’m super excited
Oh! And paintbrush
Paintbrush 🖌️🎨 You’ve gained a new sub ❤❤
:D ) xxx
Exicting: i just got my first callback and now I’m learning with a big agency !!
POV: Amber heard clicks on this video

I’m glad you enjoy the vlogs!😆
Thank you! I’m trying to be an actress and you are helping me so much!
IM GONNA BE AN ACTRESS SOON!!! (DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS PLEASE IM SCARED!!)
Makayla what do you edit with and make thumbnails with? ( Btw I love youuuu💕)
final cut prox and photoshop 🥰
Thanks Makaylaaaa!! This was a great video. Btw, how do you part your hair so nicely?? I know some people use a comb, but sometimes I use a paintbrush...XD
😂🎨🖌💖
Paintbrush! Awesome video as always Makayla! I paused the video at the beginning to try the yawn method. IT WORKS! Thank you for sharing your methods. It's really helpful!
So glad to hear this!💖
Here is another option (this is for people who want to umm just wanna cry to like “manipulate” people or smth idk) k so just pur nad sanitizer under ur eyes but a small portion or in ur hands and put ur hands near ur eyes!
So glad I could help!💖😊
I’m 10 and am OBSESSED 🤩 with acting. I have done Alice in wonderland, got the main part, Ariel, got the main part AGAIN, and it was all because of you, thank you for helping me. ❤ I am fake crying rn! ❤❤❤❤❤
I always use the substitution method most of the time I think about my grandma because she passed
THANKS for this tutorial cuz in our performance IT NEEDS TO CRY and i dont cry when i act 0:25
Paintbrush!! Great tips for crying on cue; I'll try them ASAP!
paint brush! also thank you for this, I love acting and crying on command I have actually always been quite good at! I just really struggle with auditions so I never get the parts I want
sorry 😍 hope you are okay
Another method I would also recommend is not blinking. If you don't blink then water comes from your eyes which makes it burn. It wont affect you a ton because it will be pretty short. (Blink if needed) and do it multiple times until you see progress. Hoped this helped!
I think the monologue submissions are such a great idea :)
My favourite of all the methods is probably the fake it first method. It reminds me of what I do :) (Just me acting alone in my room, no actual experience)
Also - Paintbrushes are absolutely amazing and wonderful products :)
💖 Thank you so much for watching!
I did the yawning method and my eyes got watery then I did method number 2 while my eyes were still watery then I yawned again and it was perfect! Tears were actually running down my face
Ayeeee! So happy to hear that!💖
I just imagine finding out my mom had cancer it works every single time
Thank you for all the work you put into making these videos.
Meaning i can control my emotions and pull up any emotion at will at record time too 🔥
UA-camrs looking to fake their apology videos:
I have this thing where I’m actually able to keep my mouth closed while yawning. So how I usually do it is that I breathe in for a few seconds and then the yawn starts to kick in. Afterward, I’m able to keep my mouth closed during the yawn so I don’t have to worry about opening my mouth during the play. It’s actually pretty fun 👀
I DO THAT TOO
same
I'm a actress and I been in 4 movies and a couple of commercials I'm 10 and I'm in this show and my character I have to cry thank you this helped
Hi this my first ever comment I really like this “ how to cry “ video! Thanks for making it!
0:54 im only watching this so my friends fell bad for me cause they call me a brat when im not a brat
Did you get it?.
Callback: Landed!
Role: Not landed...
Ensemble: LANDED!
Super fun show! I loved it so much.
For the yawn one I thought I was the only one! When I was in 1st grade I did it to impress some friends and they were like “Omg are you ok” lol
This is the first video i have ever watched of your and you are my new fav content creators you are so fun and have amazing vibes
I learned how to cry on cue when I was like three and my parents always fall for it lmfao
