question: do you cover the crusts with foil when you bake the pecan pies? My first pie was a fail because the crusts burned and my oven is too hot anyway, but the second was better and I covered the crusts and turned the oven down a bit.

I know what you're trying to get at about The Hobbit movie x I liked them but ultimately they were a bit disappointing, too long and the SFX aren't always great. The LOTR movies hit that 'feeling' much better, they're my lifelong comfort movies 🤗♥️

And regarding the movies, first came out the Lord of The Rings ones. I really love them, they are amazing still nowadays, when we have a lot more digital effects, etc. The Hobbit for my taste was fine, but nothing to do with the Lord of The Rings movies! I hope you are enjoying the books! haha If you didn't notice I love Tolkien! hahaha and the world he created.

You're not wrong in your assessment of The Hobbit movie. Tolkein wrote the book for his son when he was young so it's considered a children's classic. The Lord of the Rings was written 10 years later and is much more serious. The Hobbit movies tried to be too much like the LotR movies instead of sticking to the fairytale/whimsical tone of the book.
The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is a cinematic masterpiece (the Fellowship is actually my favorite movie of all time.) The production of those movies single-handedly boosted New Zealand's economy. The director, Peter Jackson, didn't initially want to direct The Hobbit because there wasn't a completed script and he, his wife, the rest of the writers took over a year to write the script for the LotR. He changed his mind about The Hobbit when he heard that the movie wouldn't be made in New Zealand if he didn't sign on, and he didn't want his fellow kiwis to lose out on thousands of jobs so he agreed. The producers pushed for three movies to make more money.
All that being said, the original trilogy is amazing! I would love to be able to watch it for the first time again! I'm excited to hear what you think after you read the books and see the movies!
P.S. I wouldn't bother with the Amazon show. It doesn't stick to Tolkein's history, and it's boring.

What book were you reading in the intro?
I'm probably one of the biggest LOTR fans out there! I'm very picky and I will say the Hobbit book is amazing and the movies are meh... BUT I will also say the Hobbit cartoon (from the 70's) is amazing and really captures the essence of the book. HOWEVER, the LOTR'S movies are so much better than books (for me). I can literally binge all three movies and I feel they are some best movies ever made!!! SERIOUSLY!!
And I agree, The Hobbit does NOT need to be three movies.

Alison, the fact you wish it was "one Hobbit movie" shows you are not yet a Tolkien Hobbit/Lord of the Rings fan😉😊.. remember the Lord of the Rings movies were made before the Hobbit.. and they were careful to make sure all the characters and films stayed TRUE to the Lord of the Rings books. ..then they decided to make the Hobbit.. keeping the style and characters as introduced in the Lord of the Rings books and films. Maybe you should read all 3 Lord of the Rings books before watching any of the movies... although now I guess it is to late, because you have watched one. I am not sure Tolkien is for you if you romanticise the characters as sweet.. because with the exception of the Hobbits all the different groups, including the Elfs, are "hard core" warriors.. so in all books and films there is basically a lot of fighting.

I agree with you! The ensemble of Tolkien characters denoted in the books are certainly not meant to be 'sweet'; and squeezing all the books into one movie would be a true tragedy in my eyes...
I LOVE The Lord of the rings movies. They warrant three movies. Unfortunately with the hobbit it was totally unnecessary to have three long movies like that. It was just a money move. I don’t care too much for the hobbit movies but love lord of the rings. I’m excited to hear what you think of those eventually!
