Just to clarify for anyone looking for the document number on your work permit (this confused me too) -- Its on the top right hand side, without a label. It is NOT the number following the Application/Demande label. And like he mentioned, both of these start with a letter followed by 9 numbers, so its tricky to know which is the right one. Just thought I'd leave this here :)

Thank you very much Mr. Suyesh for this very informative video. One week before you released this video, I had just received my AOR that was sent thru my wife last January 26, 2024. We don't know what it is nor what it does to my spousal sponsorship PR application. I had a hard time researching that it is what AOR looks like for spousal sponsorship because my wife went to a different PR track (TR to PR for health workers). So when I have identified it because of your video, I immediately used it to apply for work permit extension, even though my OWP expires this May (I had 1 year PGWP). Let me tell you that your videos had my been my guide, my EXCLUSIVE knowledge-base to navigate the IRCC's convulated, unstructured, tedious, and very confusing system. Even the "guides" web pages are hardly useful! I think IRCC should either hire you to create explanation videos for them or outright buy the rights to your videos and put them in the IRCC website in order to facilitate understanding of their process.

I wanted to bring this to your attention, on May 23, 2024, the Instructions Page for OWP has been updated with this specific bullet point that specifies that AOR received by the Spouse cannot be used be the Principal Applicant to apply for OWP. "The AOR must be for your permanent resident application. You can’t use the AOR your sponsor received when they applied to sponsor you. " Wondering if you have any update or details on how to proceed further for OWP given this update. Thanks

My wife just got approved for open work permit. No further information or steps to do, I read that they will mail the work permit. We can see the OWP number and it says "valid". Does it mean she can start working now or we need to get the actual printed OWP by mail? Thank you

i was facing the same issue.. you must have an application started already when you went in once and came out.. you should see it under your applications.. just delete that and it will reappear.

Quick question please, in the section " details of intended work in canada" you said to copy SCLPC - FC OWP” in the Job title box. but it says dashes like - are not allowed on the form. also when I look at how to complete form IMM5710, in the same section it says to just leave question 2 to 8 empty which is that Job title box part. Should I leave it empty or do as you say and copy what's on that page because it is also still there on their website, but again dashes are not allowed so im a bit confused, thank you

I found online that as a temporary resident you can apply for owp and that if you are student, that you should place "worker" as a temporary measure. However this was for a the temporary resident to pr pilot that is no longer valid, but it does say you can still apply for work permit. any information helps!

I told him the questionnaire is flawed and he said he would send me an email with information that would let me bypass the questionnaire. After I hung up I received an email with a link to the guide to apply for a work permit, but it doesn't bypass the questionnaire at all, I just don't think he understood what I meant... I guess I will make the application and either put visitor or worker in the status question, I know I am not eligible for a postgraduate permit at all so if I put student there is no way I can make an application for owp... Please let me know what you do and if you have more info!

Clearly the public policy express: If you didn’t receive your AOR and you meet the requirements, upload both of the following instead: 1. Copy of your work permit, study permit or visitor record and 2. If an applicant has submitted an OUTLAND permanent residency application through the spousal sponsorship program and is currently in Canada on a visitor visa, and they have also applied for a spousal open work permit while in Canada and are awaiting a decision, can the applicant stay in Canada under maintained status until a decision is made on the work permit application even if their visitor visa expires before that. I’m asking because I’ve seen some websites mentioning that maintained status applies to inland sponsorship applications, and I’m unsure if this applies to OUTLAND spousal sponsorship applications as well. Could you please clarify and share any links to an official website where I can find more information? Thanks again for your help!

What I should mark in number 3 of the first part if I am on a WHV Open work permit that expires in some weeks, but I am applying for an Open Work permit through my girlfriend's high-skilled work sponsorship? No, its a special requirement for OPW application as part of spousal sponsorship and yes must be filled out by applicants living inside canada. Go through the OPW page again, this form is required for spousal sponsorship applicants who want to apply for OPW. They’ll reject your application if you don’t provide this form as part of OPW under spousal sponsorship stream.
Hi Suyash, firstly I would like to thank you for your support through PR application videos on youtube which helped me a lot to file for my wife as an Outland Spousal Sponsorship application under Family Class. Now, my wife already got her AOR and she did her medical and biometrics as well. Her eligibility criteria and security background check is also updated to COMPLETED and after that there is no update since 4 months now and we are waiting for her COPR since 4 months. Now if she wants to come to Canada on TRV, there are high chances that her application would be accepted. But what if she comes to Canada and meanwhile she gets her COPR. Then, how does that work because this is an outland application and her file is being processed from New Delhi office. Will she has to send passport for stamp or she will directly get her PR card? Its not an issue. If she is in canada already and gets her ppr, she can inform ircc about her presence in canada and they’ll switch her process to virtual landing. All instructions will be in the ppr letter she will receive once she gets approved.

Yes, this is correct. I think this always start with a letter, S for students, U for Workers and another one I can't remember.

This urgent, i have a question, please help me answer. I am principal applicant (being sponsored), my application has been under processing for 7 months already and I am about to apply for this owp. I couldn't find AOR for myself. It says i can't use AOR my sponsor received when he applied to sponsor me. The AOR must be my permanent resident application. How can i find AOR?!

If an applicant has submitted an OUTLAND permanent residency application through the spousal sponsorship program and is currently in Canada on a visitor visa, and they have also applied for a spousal open work permit while in Canada and are awaiting a decision, can the applicant stay in Canada under maintained status until a decision is made on the work permit application even if their visitor visa expires before that.
I’m asking because I’ve seen some websites mentioning that maintained status applies to inland sponsorship applications, and I’m unsure if this applies to OUTLAND spousal sponsorship applications as well. Could you please clarify and share any links to an official website where I can find more information?

Hello, I have a question. What I should mark in number 3 of the first part if I am on a WHV Open work permit that expires in some weeks, but I am applying for an Open Work permit through my girlfriend's high-skilled work sponsorship? I don´t know if it would be "Apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer" or not, since while I am in an open work permit, I have never applied to that, it is "Intrinsically" included in the WHV.

We are submitting the PR application in a couple of days but my spouse's work permit expires in 20 days, can we apply for the work permit before receiving the AOR using the PR submission confirmation email? And if so would he have an implied status to stay and work in Canada. I am worried as I heard from some that he should extend his status as a visitor which is confusing since he still has an OWP for another 20 days which we are trying to maintain. Would applying to extend a stay as a visitor interfere with what we are trying to do?

Because I saw on the IRCC websitethat it says
''Who needs to fill out this form?
This form must be filled out by each person, 18 years of age or older, applying for a Temporary Resident Visa, a study or work permit outside Canada.''
No, its a special requirement for OPW application as part of spousal sponsorship and yes must be filled out by applicants living inside canada. Go through the OPW page again, this form is required for spousal sponsorship applicants who want to apply for OPW. They’ll reject your application if you don’t provide this form as part of OPW under spousal sponsorship stream.

Hi Suyash, firstly I would like to thank you for your support through PR application videos on youtube which helped me a lot to file for my wife as an Outland Spousal Sponsorship application under Family Class. Now, my wife already got her AOR and she did her medical and biometrics as well. Her eligibility criteria and security background check is also updated to COMPLETED and after that there is no update since 4 months now and we are waiting for her COPR since 4 months.
Now if she wants to come to Canada on TRV, there are high chances that her application would be accepted. But what if she comes to Canada and meanwhile she gets her COPR. Then, how does that work because this is an outland application and her file is being processed from New Delhi office. Will she has to send passport for stamp or she will directly get her PR card?

Its not an issue. If she is in canada already and gets her ppr, she can inform ircc about her presence in canada and they’ll switch her process to virtual landing. All instructions will be in the ppr letter she will receive once she gets approved.

Without my wes, and say "No" on the is your partner accommodating you, my points are 504. (Visa expires in July 2024)

We have applied to "Restoration of Status" and "Inland Spousal PR" where I (PR) am the sponsor. Her "Restoration of Status" application is still processing. Can we apply for OWP? If we can apply then what should be the expiry date for the current status expiry question?
