Hi, so to clarify, since my spouse is in Ireland and Irish residents do not need a TRV to travel to Canada. They can go there for up to six months on a holiday. If we submit his spousal sponsorship outland and just wait for the AOR. Once I get the emailed AOR he can fly to Canada and then apply for a work permit under inland stream. Is this correct?

Yes. But it doesn't convert to an inland. It's still outland - they just extended the work permit eligibility to outland applications.

Thanks for the info. just to clarify... if the applicant is outside of Canada, I could file spousal sponsorship first, then TRV, once he arrives, then OWP? how is that different from applying TRV, then submitting inland spousal sponsorship, then OWP? The only difference is the order. Before, only spousal sponsorships submitted from inside Canada could qualify for the OWP. Now it’s been expanded to those applying from outside too. You just have to be inside Canada on valid status.

You can technically apply right after. The announcement didn’t specifically mention the AOR. I prefer to have the AOR since it shows clear proof (application #) and also shows that your file passed completeness check.
