Which one are *YOU* Buying and Why!?
RUN UP LAST WEEK'S VIDEO HERE!! ua-cam.com/video/ObfmURd-f2Q/v-deo.html
Personally s197, just more aggressive and especially the Tail Lights are wicked ! thats in my humble opinion
S197 better exterior. S550 best interior
Really hard choice
Yes agree
I would get one with s197 exterior and a S550 interior , if that existed. 😂. 2013-2014 my fav. Any day
Have had both. S550 has a super refined feel and is an overall nice car… but there’s just something about the s197 that feels right
Looks wise and raw muscle feel - S197
Comfort wise and more of a “luxury” feel - S550.
S197 kills it with appearance but I gotta admit the S550 wins with comfort
I have a 2013 S197 premium and I just love the more aggressive look that it gives and just the overall feel
Same bro. 2013 GT premium
Yeah I just got mine 2013 GT Premium I’m in love the feeling and it breaks necks 🐎💪🏼
S197 is the best looking body style to me. Even the 3 valve S197's.
I personally went with a gen 3 10r80 car and I literally could not be any happier with the car. They're freaking sexy, make great power with very little mods and the 10r80 is truly a racing advantage. These cars can compete with much higher horsepower cars due to the 10r80 and that they can rev out so much higher than mopars or LS's. 10/10 would recommend 👌
I just bought an s197 2013 red candy metallic GT Premium with only 16k miles. I love how stiff and kinda boaty it feels. Definitely feels like an old muscle car, but modernized. I love the Gen 1 5.0. 420hp is plenty for most. Though, I am really curious how different both feel.
Just curious how much did u pay for it? Im in the market for one now🙂
I just bought one last April 60k miles 20k before warranty 23k after warranty from car max and im just building my credit so you can probably get a better deal.
I've owned a 2013 Mustang GT/CS for almost 5 years and I'm still in shock sometimes how awesome it looks!
That s197 just looks waaay more meaner than the others!
A friend of mine described this in the best way I’ve heard so far. He said the s197 is more raw power and more muscle car-esc and the s550 is more of a luxury sports car-esc
I love the S550 Mustangs more than the S197 but I’ve seen some pretty clean S197
I was looking for an s197 two years ago when I bought my first Mustang; I wanted reliability, looks, speed, and something I could put on the highway and travel with. Ultimately it made more sense for me to go with the s550, but I still Love the s197’s.
The S197 (11-14) is the BEST generation Mustang of all time. Nothing will beat the feeling (for me anyways) being in highschool and seeing that legendary 5.0 logo return to the fender in 2011. Great video brother!
100%. Perfection in looks.
I'm honestly leaning towards the 2020 mustang with the 10 speed, for looks, comfort, and versatility of the car as a whole.
S197 all the way. The last true mustang as you say, the last muscle car mustang is what it is. The feel and looks are what makes it. That being said I would never have bought my S197 to daily and if that's what your after go with the S550 they are a beautiful and comfortable car for that purpose.
This is hands down the best informative, straight to the point, practical video that will answer all the general questions people usually ask me about when it comes to 11-14 Mustang GT in comparison to the 18-22 model Mustang GT. I personally knew all this info but explaining it to people who know very little about the minut differences in the mustang years is a mouthful. Perfect video DBP👍👍👍
Crazy but I really didn’t love the mustang until the S550 body style came out and now I’m just in love with them! Hopefully getting a 10 speed gt soon!
I went 2020 10 speed and I did it for the daily driver comforts. It’s an easy car to daily and have fun.
They make great daily drivers. As long as a family member or a good friend have a truck, your all good.
I went s197 just because what you said. Best looking aggressive mustang. It was truly the last mustang. It’s way more of a muscle car then the s550s. And you can do so many upgrades to the s197 and make it look 10x better especially interior mods
I’d only pick the s550 just because it can go faster, but if I could put a 10r80 in a s197 that would be epic!!
I own a black fully murdered 2020 GT 10R80 PP1 ..down to the lug nuts all external lights, chrome deleted black interior and engine bay! Fast, comfortable best mustang ever 2018 -2021 sweet spot for performance!
S197 all day...but I'm here because of the 2 value new edge videos you use to make ...but still a big fan ..keep up the hustle ..shout out from baja California mx
I own a 2014 S197 my cousin has a 550. I bought mines last Sept, using it as a project car/ weekend and travel car. Watching your channel had motivated me in my custom build journey.
I just purchased a 2014 Grabber blue GT premium with the glass roof. Has long tube headers and a Corsa exhaust. Love it so far!
Bought a 2013 Mustang GT Premium two months ago and love it ❗
I would personally get the s197 just because I think it’s the best mustang ever made
Back in the gap when the 11-14 coyotes with paxtons started making light work of the whippled Cobras, I knew the torch had finally been passed as most dominant mustang
In 2013 I bought a new leftover 2012 gt. I originally went to the dealer to look at a used 2008 gt500 priced about the same and decided to go with the gt. Imo it was sexier and it was a fresh start on a new platform. Still have it, happy with my decision, don't plan on ever getting rid of it, just keep on building.
Had a 2014 Mustang V6. I wanted the best of the best (within my budget of course). I told myself if I ever got a V8 mustang it would be the S550. At first I wanted the Gen 2, but then the Gen 3 grew on me and I ended up loving it more than the others. Fast forward and I got a 2020 PP1 10speed. I love it. Looking forward to supercharging it.
Own 2104 gt , body style of this kinda have retro mustang look ....and I would rather buy newer Camaro over newer mustang
I own a gen 1 MT82 S197 but eventually I plan on trading it in for a 10 speed. Practicality is big a factor in my decision.
I own an S197 2013 V6 Premium with pony package convertible. I purchased the vehicle about 3 yrs ago with 14, 200 miles on it. The vehicle had been owned by an 87 yr old lady. While my Mustang does not have 700+ horsepower, or custom exhaust, it is most definitely a head turner. It is Race Red, tan top and ivory leather interior. It is bone stock and has still won awards at local car shows. I do pamper the vehicle. It is washed regularly, professionally detailed inside and out and under the hood. The vehicle is never driven in the rain or snow. Actually come Nov or Dec, the vehicle is put away for the winter. My Mustang was purchased as a fun car for the summer, and I totally enjoy driving it.
I got a 2011 s197 I really didn’t know what I was getting into when I first bought it but this thing has been nothing but reliable since I bought it but once you dial in the s197s suspension you can’t go wrong the got the looks and performance to back it up
Coyote swapped new edge over both any day. Over 1000 lbs lighter and will smack everything
Yooo I had the Gen 3 6 speed for 2 years, never drove it, I think I put 2K miles on it in 2 years. Traded it in on a Gen 3 10 speed automatic and I procharged it, now the 10 speed is super fast, happy I switched to the 10 speed and put a procharger on it, it's a freckin BEAST
If you want to go fast get a Gen 3 car. If you want to build a car get a Gen 1 car.
All around N/a performance Gen 3.. if you plan on building a fast straight line car Gen 1 all day, light weight. Solid Rear, and pretty stout motor from factory.
Thanks for the video Derek 🙏 Saving for a Coyote Mustang right now and don't know which to go for.
Love the s197 but I feel like the gen 2 coyotes still have the aggressive look as it was like a transitional period from 2015 -17 .
Currently own a 2015 gt pp1 6speed and wouldn’t traded it for the world , every time I drive it it’s a new experience .
Either one is a win win .
i got a 17 gen 2 and I can agree! the front ends look meaner imo than the 18-20s s550s
I own a 2012 GT Premium, manual with the performance package,(Brembo front calipers,19” wheels,3.73 Torsen diff.,etc.). It also has the electronics package,(nav screen)and the special leather seats with the white stripes going down the middle. In fact i believe it has every option available that year except for the glass roof, which i didn’t want anyway,(i live in central Florida and my car has a black interior,it gets hot enough inside in the summertime as it is)! I would love to also get a 2018-2021 GT performance pack with the 10R80 auto trans too! Like you said,it’s definitely a different animal! The S197 is more of an American muscle car, where as the S550 is more like a European sports car! I think the S197 is a better looking car,(especially from the front),but like you said, the S550 is a better performing car! Like you,i like them both!
S197. I like the body style better plus the first one I drove was a 5.0 manual
I know this is late, but for me it's the S197. In my opinion, the live rear axle and it's overall layout make it feel way more muscle car-like than the S550. The S550 is a work of art and is very smooth and refined, but I feel most at home in my 2014 Track Pack GT 😁
Went S197 in a 2013 Boss 302 last month! 16k miles roadrunner with 20k in mods no factory transmission, trem Max XL.
I’ve had a ‘13 GTCS and a ‘14 GTCS , both MT82 cars and loved them. Got rid of the ‘14 to get a ‘16 Gen2/4x4/6r80 F150 with the intention of paying it off to get a 15-17 MT82 car next. But man after driving some , I think the plan is now to buy a Paxton/Vortech 11-14 car next year instead. Lower price , already boosted and with the Dynavin installed I’ll get the features I really care about. Love the S197 “muscle car” feel over the s550 “sport car” feel.
coyote swapped foxbody is a must.
I went s197 because the price was really good and I love the more beefy look! but love the s550 too
I would pick S550 but i 100% agreed on the S197 being the last true RAW type of feel Mustang
13-14 s197. A s550 will never look as good as a tastefully modded 13-14 s197. Such as Derek’s. Now I will say, the new gt500 looks wicked and putting the front bumper on a regular s550 absolutely transforms the look of one.
I own a 2021 Mustang Mach 1. Previously had a 2003 Gt and 2021 performance pack level one GT. The Mach 1 comes with a upgraded torque converter And re-tuned 10 speed. Drives so much better from the rest and quicker.
My dream mustang. S197 with a gen 3 10 speed Twin turbo 😮💨😮💨
I bought my 2020 GT about 8 months ago and I couldnt be happier. For me , it was basically buying my "realistic" dream car and I had been waiting for a very long time. I couldn't be happier, I went with the manual just for something different. Ive been driving auto my whole life and just wanted a change. I love the car, no regrets. Still fighting myself about putting an aftermarket exhaust but I just doint know what to go with.
Great video . S197 are S550 if you want that American Muscle car look it’s the S197 if you want the European look then the S550 But understanding they are going to Handel different because the S550 if newer. I just like that American Muscle Car look .
I own a 10 speed. Personally I just wanted to mess up the N/A game and obviously gen 3’s are the way to go with that.
First I went with a 2014 cause of price point and what I was making at the time then a 2021 gen 3 now cause they grew on me and I’m in a better spot in life too
I bought a 2017 grabber blue GT, personally i think the overall look both in and out of the car are nicer. Would be pretty cool to get some pics of the two grabber blue stangs together at mustang week👀
Been building my s550 since last August, Whipple gen 5 3.0L, e85 and fore dp along with suspension irs lockout bushings dss one piece aluminum shaft. Rwhp 758 and 600 torque. Love it.
Just picked up a 2022 GT premium “S550” went with 6spd actually. So much fun. Rapid red black out package named Fiona 🍎. Traded in 2021 Mustang Ecoboost carbonized gray with black out package which had only 580 miles in six months 🤷🏻♂️
I have a 21 GT in Rapid Red with the black pack. You will find out everyone will love the color. Enjoy! they are amazing cars.
Owned both. Sold my s550 to go back to the s197 but went with a gt500 this time 🤙
Solid rear axle is better in a straight line with high hp. IRS is better around corners. I added the Steeda IRS braces to my S550 to stiffen it up.
I went New edge, because to me, they look the meanest and I have enough power to run with coyote cars, but when it comes to making this choice I’m going S550 because it’s the latest platform, I already have a raw car, the next will be refined and comfortable and powerful whipple coyote 10r80
Currently an Infiniti G37 WFBO owner looking into the 14 Mustang Coyote.
I also hear that the newer Mustangs are fairly reliable which is huge!
Nice wheels bro!
Had a s197 i loved it but like you said the s550 are just everything cant go wrong with either
My name is buzzy and I have a 2012 mustang GT 5.0 coyote engine and I sene it on a used car lot and I fell in love with it.
I don’t have a coyote, but I have a 2012 3.7. I grew up around mustangs and had a 01 then had to sell it and my grandfather passed down the 2012 to me. I love it! But when it comes to a s550 or s197 I can’t really decide, I love then both! But for my life style and the fact I suck at manual, I hope in the future to have a 10 speed s550. I love the paddle shifters, the look and interior, just overall fits my lifestyle. But I love all mustangs!🤘🏾
I like this style of camera footage more then pov it’s more enjoyable but still 🔥 content 😎
S197 was fun. Only bought one over an s550 because it was 3 years old with 356 miles on it. I did miss some of the creature comforts though that I couldve had on the s550.
Not going to lie. I’m not a fire guy but i got my 19 s550 under 35k with 6k miles on it. One thing about it is it’s a manual. And i love the way mustangs sound manual.
I love my S550 GT but the S197's are sexy as hell too They are the cars that brought the Mustangs Back into the argument again..
I still take the 13-14gt500 and plus the price on them now vs when they were new👌🏾
The S550 is the most aggressive looking ‘muscle’ car I’ve ever seen. I say ‘muscle’ because it’s a sport car truly. The comfort mixed with the power and technology in this car is unreal. I hated how they looked when they came out, then became obsessed, then wanted a brand new one. 2021 GT Premium - in antimatter blue with a blackout package 😮💨 and my girl recently got a 2018 GT Premium 🤷🏻♂️
Personally the body’s of the s197’s are just a gift from the heavens.
In my opinion, the last real Mustang is the last one to have a V8 engine in it.
I want the Ecoboost mustang just didn't want to much crazy but I love the gt 💯💯💯💯
I had a 05 mustang v6. And just got a 2018 5.0 and love it! Huge upgrade but I understand where you torn between the two they both have such different characteristics... I wish I could have one of each gen to be honest 😔
I like the vibes the new microphone gives off. Almost makes the videos feel more premium or professionally filmed
I had a 2013 S197 and loved it. It always brought a smile to my face when I looked at it. I was happy with everything but the manual trans going back and forth to work. It’s fun in normal driving but a huge pain in stop and go traffic. I decided to switch to a 2020 S550 with the 10R80. I love to drive it but it’s not as thrilling to look at.
I’m torn cause i’d really want a gen 3 coyote engine, but i think the gen 2 body style (mainly the headlights) are just so much better
For me, i have a 2016 GT premium, its deep impact blue ( ur fav color lol) but its a 6 speed auto, i live in Michigan so w the roads and weather an auto is way better, i just love the interior and the more driver friendly aspects of it, and i personally love how mine looks over the 18-22s, but the gen 3 is nuts, i got mine up to about 450-455 hp from stock 435 with exhaust and CIA, its a joy to have, we go to Woodward in Detroit for meets and events a lot, Detroit is the motor city
I love the combination of a 5.0 coyote with a 6 speed manual transmission and black of course lol
I have a 2014 GT 5.0 and I have a 2005 GT 4.6 with a procharger and cams I love both they are like day and night but still lots of fun 😮
I was a very very big fan of the s197 but as soon as i got my 18 it was a wrap. I still have both and imo this video really sums it up nicely.
Love the S 550 and you can drive it everywhere and have sync and navigation and remote start
Bluecifer looks better and is way more raw. But I'd take the s550 with how easy it is to make decently quick.
S197 11 and up were really nice and the coyote was a game changer. It’s a great start. The Gen 3 coyote is just a lot higher tier and comes out more capable stock. I personally love the front end of the 18 and ups it’s more sinister looking. Just get a more aggressive hood and it looks meaner. IMO
I bought an '15 S550 4 years ago. I always liked the Mustang in general. When the S550 came out, I knew I wanted to buy one then. It took me 3 years to buy the 1st year model S550 and I never looked back, but, hold up! A year after buying it, I've set my sights on buying a matching color S197 GT because I believe I'm missing that experience plus it's a great version of the Mustang to own as well. It's clearly a toss up for me. I choose both.
I love my 2020 but I have to say my new edge is my favorite. All have their own pros and cons so you really can’t go wrong.
Got a brand new 2020 Race Red 10R80 premium GT and just wanted the comforts and the exhaust valves and safety stuff since it’s simply a daily and I don’t go to the track at all (one day) anyways no regrets at all it’s super comfy and I just got the PP1 Spoiler and wheels and voila lol 😎
s197 easy call blue has always been my favorite
Currently have a New Edge. Next Mustang I want is definitely a S197
I went foxbody because it was a christmas/graduation gift from my grandpa. It's as stock as it gets, sort of neglected but I'm working on getting it restored the best I can. Not trying to make it a race car but I just want to make it a really nice cruiser. No power adders, just looking for all raw feeling of a 30+ year old car
I went with a 21 S550 6 speed manual with 401A package. Came out of a fox body and Wanted something more modern and comfortable.
S197 all day.13-14 GT500
I need a daily… with an auto. BUT, I’m still a bigger fan of the S197 so it’s between a super bone stock S550 and an auto premium S197
I have a s197 3V and it was the first mustang I drove it was FBO and o just remember smiling the while time I was driving so I bought one I absolutely love the 13/14 but all around I'd go for that and the Eleanor for my dream mustangs
I went for an s197 just got it a week ago and love it honestly it’s a 2014 yes a v6
I got a 2014 v6 3.7 Reason being is budget wise. But I do plan on upgrading within the next 2 or so years to the S197 GT.
Hey man Ik it’s been years but I just started the same journey as you, just wanted to know if you made it already, planning on getting a s197 gt in 2 years too
@ElectroDoesMinecaft still working on it. Paying off my truck first. But I am debating to get the 2024 body if possible so it'll be my first brand new vehicle. If not I'll still get the s197 gt. All depends on my financial situation at the time once I get paid off on my truck.
when it comes to building a max effort mustang, s550 wins everytime only the 18+ 10 speed obviously but looks with mods the 2014 is the best looking mustang with the 5.0 imo
The S550 for me. I want the IRS and that little bit more power.
