Bro, dude is like a 55% free throw shooter. He can hit set wide open three’s in practice. Guess who else can do that shaq, Dwight Powell, Boban, and Deandre Ayton.
It’s something that every single NBA player can do but putting it into practice is a totally different thing. Hitting shots where the pass isn’t perfect, factoring fatigue, and more than anything else a defender with a 7 foot wingspan sprinting right at you is so much different than draining practice three’s. It may happen one day but Deandre Ayton was the same and his shot has never improved (Ayton’s does have no motivation though).
I'm lowkey kinda expecting and hoping for this to be honest. 😂
@@destinsuggs5265 I hear what you're saying and I'm not EXPECTING him to start jacking up 3's at least any time soon, but guys like Shaq, Boban, whatever lunking center, were not sinking shot after shot after shot with a good looking stroke like we've seen he can do. It's not crazy.

This Boston team is the 2011 heat and I think J Kidd and Dirk are sharing all of what they learned from the series. Being the underdogs, not having a shot, etc etc and how they used that as fuel to the fire that was lit under them to win that chip! Let’s Go Mavs!!!
If Dallas wins, they will say this year was not strong blah blah blah and that Celtics had some problems blah blah. We kept hearing "lac will beat you", "okc will beat you", "wolves are too hard for mavs", and after they won it was "kawhi injury", "okc too young team", "kat didn't perform".
It is all about Luka and his jedi mind games. Also Nico did great with trades and picking the rookie lively. Luka dominates, Kyrie gives Luka needed peace of mind and the "support" team has many dogs in them.

Lively and Gafford have both brought defense and the ability to play above the rim, I'll add Washington and Jones to the mix as well. Mav's went from a one trick pony (the 3) to a team that can get stops, score in the paint and still shoot the three. The Mav's had always been soft, except when they had Chandler in 2010-2011, but I'm really digging how the play now.
Yeah this is a completely new era for mavs and mavs fans it’s totally changed the team after that deadline trade and drafting lively just goes to show it can be done if you get the right people working behind the scenes

Lively is good standing on his own, but Luka sweetens the deal. The spacing on the court is bent to Luka's will and the assist isn't just there, it is almost perfect every time!

I rather Dereck not be on the perimeter so we can stop JB and JT from getting those close buckets but I agree he had gotten better at perimeter defense.
He'd only be on the perimeter on offense, so not sure how that would affect his ability to protect the paint.
I’m not much of a fan of the shooting bigs in general, it’s become a trend in the NBA and these dudes act like they Dirk Nowitzki but they not 😂

It would be nice to see him take over Maxi's spot in the rotation.
To be able to play him and Gafford at the same time, while giving PJ and by extension DJJ a break without losing the 3pt threat that they provide.

I think we should stick with what's been working, Lively was taking 3s at Duke, there's a reason he hasn't been taking them here, adding that should be a long term goal. The only thing that scares me about Boston is we will need a defensive adjustment, Boston is the last team you want to dare to take too many threes. If Kidd makes an adjustment, I think we're good

I was mid on the Lively pick on draft day, then I watched him in the summer league games. What jumped out to me over the course of the games was his acquisitional BBIQ. You alluded to it several times in the video - his ability to learn things quickly is the highest I've ever seen in any player. Who knows; maybe he'll be able to take minutes at PG by his fourth year. 😀
