Kirstin is more than just a permanent member of PTX. She met Mitch around age 8. Mitch and Scott at age 10 doing, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and have been best friends ever since. They grew up in Arrington, Texas and formed the Trio in High Scool. When they entered the NBC show called "The Sing-Off" in 2011. The Trio are bonded for life. They added Avi Kaplan and Kevin for the base and beatbox. The judges on the TV show referred to them as the Meat and Potatoes. Each could have had individual careers, but Scott wanted his 2 besties along for the ride. Each have their own separate projects to focus if their tours slow down. Pentatonix put out an entire album over the pandemic. Each recoded themselves at home on their iPhones and sent in their part. One song during the pandemic, you can see each member at their home singing every song with the word Home in it. The do not need to be in the same recoding studio or city to release new music. They will be around for a long time.
10:50 My understanding is the church in the video is the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Per Wikipedia, it was designed by Lloyd Wright (Frank Lloyd Wright's son, who incorporated natural elements and nature in a similar aesthetic to his dad). Sadly, the church was closed at the beginning of 2024 because of increasing movement of the land in the area. By April, the foundation and some of the glass panes were damaged, and the church began being dismantled in May in order to save as much of the original materials as possible. At this point, it hasn't been reconstructed elsewhere.
I thought you two had already done a reaction to this one. I guess not. Yes, they did an awesome rendition of this. Kirstie does add that extra dimension that other all male a capella groups just don't have.
They had to dismantle Wayfarer's Chapel this year because of the Palos Verdes landslides - the grounds were moving 12 inches a week. Hopefully, they can reassemble the Chapel on more stable ground nearby - it's such a landmark.
What Mitch do with his voice at the end of his solo is sometimes overlooked. Kirsten is phenomenal. Well all of them are stunning. Love them so much. Remember only Avi left this group amicably and Matt Sallee is the "new" bass from 2017/2018. Mitch and Kirsten change their looks so often that they are mistaken for new members. TX for this. You are appreciated. Greetings from South Africa
Chris Tomlin wrote his version for the soundtrack of the 2006 film Amazing Grace, about the 18th-century campaign to abolish slavery in the UK. He and other Christian and contemporary artists were asked to write new versions of popular hymns. Kirstie's verse, with it's pauses in the flow of the melody, seems to me to be based on Tomlin's arrangement for his voice and piano, which you can find on YT.
As previously mentioned, this was recorded at Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Sadly, due to landslides, the chapel is being disassembled to protect the structure from permanent damage. Such a loss for the local community.
This is amazing but O Holy Night is absolutely breathtaking.

Wayfarers' Chapel, Palos Verdes, Cali. Great indeed, enjoyed guys.
Yes, it is a real church in California. It has been used in many scenes for movies and shows. Beautiful place.
It's in two scenes in the television show Lucifer (kind of ironic).
@ Yes, I’ve seen that too.

This came out on their 2020 Christmas album. A needed song especially for that year.
