One of the most underrated horses of all time
What a Monster Lammtarra was. Hard as nails. You just don't get horses doing the Derby, King George and Arc anymore.
This was a Great win. You have to remember it was a good field may be not as good as 1997 but a good field. Pentire and strategic choice both came at him to win. Broadway house flyer set a good pace too to make it a true race and he beat a former arc winner in Carnegie aswell.
Lamtarra was a true great. It's a shame he was retired good have one so much more.
my all-time fav horse..got 16s for the Derby where he broke course record on rock hard ground (record lasted a while til War Paint i think)..won arc on a quagmire...only ran 4 times...won them all...went off to stud in Japan, had a good life by all accounts..passed 2014,aged 22...
Before they announced a jockey on him lammtarra was 50 to 1 soon as Walter was to ride him drop to 16 to 1 i had a score on him . Only horse that never went even money or odds on after winning the Derby and King George for the arc that summer first time in my gambling career i beat the bookies because of tha great horse for the arc i saved up 2 grand on the nose boy did do well he started to pull away in last half furlong pity they had no world cup then
@@mohammedzulfiquar2605 Nice one...just watched it yet again....fantastic :)
Great race. Micheal Hills received a lot of criticism for his ride on Pentire; he'd challenged Lammtarra too soon; he should have held him up a little longer. Not quite fair. I think that whenever Hills had challenged, Lammtarra would have still won. Lammtarra was a tiger of a horse.
Elvis Presley
Yes, totally agree.
Yes, he'd have been too tough whenever Hills had decided to make his move. You couldn't eyeball Lammtarra.
GREAT horse!
Lammtarra didnt get the run of the race and still won... if you look closely he took a false step on the bend, which only a truly brave horse would have overcome
Andrew Williams precisely what he was, all quality and guts. One of top 10 middle distance performers all time, Pentire was also quality animal
24 years on and Frankie Dettori still embraces on this great race. Enable has just become the latest multiple winner in a similar finish to this 1995 one, in fact much closer.
The crowd noise in this video and the arc video. I was at Longchamp for the arc that year and the roof almost came off the old grandstand when Lammtarra fought gamely for the wire.
Game colt that Lammtarra - fought back bravely afer being scrubbed along a long way from home AND bumped on the turn into the straight.
Frankie Dettori's first ever victory and that same horse went on to win the Arc De Triomphe, that year's Derby winner.
Great horse
Top class racehorse. Remember him fondly. Win a bundle on him in the Derby. Great son of Nijinsky.
Disgracefully underated Horse 😢
Tough as old boots
1995 was meant to be about Celtic swing and Pennecamp. Lamtarra was unknown at the start of the 1995 season.
True, some great 3 year olds that season. Bahri, Ridgewood Pearl, Spectrum, Classic Cliche, Pentire, the list goes on, not to mention Singspiel and Pilsudski were also 3 that season though not quite bloomed yet.
A rattling great horse sired by Nijinsky.
#BBC Frankie Strach Leap
Maybe film in the making has 2 year old trainer Alex Scott shot dead then to come out first time as 3 year old to win the Derby on his 2nd start jockey Walter swinburne kicked off the horse and replaced by Frankie
