Lammtara. Most underated g1 winner of all time.Only ran 4times.Derby,king George,ArcWon from the front or the back.Any ground.Smashed the epsom course record at the time.Mind you his sire was Nijinsky.
“Here comes Lammtarra from the gods” GGs wonderful call and not only that a horse given from the gods, stunning racehorse and the great Wally Swinburn too.
Backed him anti post after his Newbury debut at 25/1 for the derby. On the day Myself n our kid had organised a racing trip from our local in Manchester to Haydock. I’d told everyone on the coach to back him. God bless Alex Scott RIP🙏 Watched the race at Haydock on the tellys in the foyer. 53 of us… all backed him. I didn’t tell my bro I did a reverse forecast with Frankie on Tamure…. All in took about £2 grand off them anti post bet included. Coach carried on to Blackpool with 53 mad head Mancunians with pockets full of doh!!! One of the best days of my life. Probably “ THEE” most underrated horse of a lifetime… smashed the king George… n the arc in heavy going. They compare the greats but forget this little lion. NIJINSKYS very last foal…LEGEND. Broke the track record which was held for 15 years and gave Wally Swinburn(RIP🙏) arguably the best ride I’ve ever seen since Mick Kinane on Sea the Stars in the arc. They mention greats…. They forgot this little warrior. Alex Scott befofore he was taken out of the world so cruelly said” I’ve got a derby winner”…. I believed him. He was… thank you Alex n Wally in heaven. Thank you Lammtarra for being the biggest legend who gave 53 mad heads from Manchester… probably one of the best days of their lives…. Great racing innit😉💙
It's such a shame Llammtara is never mentioned when they talk about great horses. Just like the unbeaten Golden Fleece, he is a vastly underrated Derby winner. Never mind winning the King George and Arc.
Swinburne was told to keep up with the leaders. The horse had only ran once before. He ignored orders and eased him into the race turning the corner. He said it was his proudest ride in the Derby.
I backed this ante post because of an article about George Scott backing it as a two year old ante post. When he switched on the afterburners, good night Vienna 🎉
A truly remarkable racehorse, one of my all time favourites - such a shame he only raced four times and wasn't a success at stud as he had everything - looks, temperament, tenacity and breeding.
I assume he lost the ride as he was trained by Saeed bin Suroor as a three year old and therefore part of the Godolphin operation. In his only run as a two year old he was trained by Alex Scott who had £1000 on him at 33/1 for the Derby but was tragically murdered in September 1994 and was not part of the Godolphin operation and Walter got the ride on him. So as first choice jockey for Godolphin Frankie came in the for the ride in the King George and Arc after riding Tamure in Sheikh Mohammed's colours in the Derby.

Incredible horse, and his famous ancestors Northern Dancer and Nijinsky...

Broke the track record and held it until Workforce came along in 2010.
Was on Tamure. Counting the money 100yds out. Gutted. Beaten by a good un though.
He wasn't just a horse he was a freak
why did Wally lose the ride on Lamtarra?
godolphin retained wankie
@@JonJonJonJonJonJonJonJon he did win a king George an a arc on him so he didn't do too bad
