I'm currently in my third year of undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering, and I'm passionate about becoming a Robotics Engineer-particularly in software, though I'm eager to explore other branches as well. In the past two years, I've developed two robotics projects that gained national recognition from major corporations like Intel. I've also become proficient in AI (including ML, DL, NLP, and CV) and Backend & DevSecOps engineering. Given this background, would it be a good strategy to first pursue a career as an AI Engineer and then pursue a Master's degree to transition into Robotics Engineering?
First, congratulations on your success in your projects! That could be a good approach. The pipeline for an AI Engineer will likely be different in some ways to core robotics, but it would lead you to a really strong background before getting stronger in C++ and robotics specific algorithms! I'm interested in embedded c and have some experience working with ROS, Gazebo, Solidworks as well as Arduino, C, Python. I seem to be interested in almost all subfields of robotics which makes it harder for me to choose & follow a path...
@@inej614 If you're interested in software rather than an electrical career path, With extra expertise in electrical engineering I would start looking into jobs that involve low level applications (closer to the hardware) like working with drivers if that interested you. This may be an "Embedded Software Engineer". For core positions you may need to boost some computer science concepts like multi threading or object oriented structures and design patterns. That said, you know yourself and you should pick something that you find interesting and you feel you can do well, and sometimes you end up pivoting based on jobs available. Good luck!
