I’ve not yet implemented this, BUT, people are still craving authentic connection. Meaning, short-form video content is on the way out for that specific platform. Talking to the camera, sharing whatever is authentic to you, is what’s working for 2023. LOVING *YOUR* content, Katie! ❤
I love the emphasis on using what works for you and not feeling pressured to follow trends. That's where Boost App Social comes in handy. It offers a range of features that allow me to create TikToks that align with my style and resonate with my audience, rather than just hopping on every trend.
@@taylor.ronald It provides unique reels, story templates, and AI writing tools that allow me to infuse my personal style into my TikToks. It helps me stay true to myself while still creating content that gets views. It's been a game-changer for me!
Absolutely! Boost App Social has been a great tool for me too. It allows me to be creative and authentic in my TikToks, which has helped me connect with my audience better. Highly recommend it!
Main points mentioned in this video: 1. Treat TikTok like UA-cam. 2. Start filming video in-depth topics like history or social justice, vlogs or tutorial videos and the style you’d see on UA-cam. 3. Useable is more diverse and the video length was increased on TikTok.
Love this. I told myself 2023 it's time to get out of my head and genuinely own my knowledge, provide help, and SHOW UP. Also repurposing. Whether I take key words and turn them into a carousel, or snippets of be talking as a voice over etc. Now it's just time to actually apply it!
This is great! I’m finally abandoning IG this year, focusing on TT and YT and loving it!! I’m growing faster in TikTok with the strategy you mentioned. I actually start there, capture the comments and then use that as a reversal for my YT videos.
I’ve been noticing the little teaser at the start of videos more recently too. In the artist community I often see the finished piece then people show the process after. Thanks for sharing your strategy 😊
Katie - when you first said "youtube strategy," I immediately thought of your vlog/storytelling video! LOVE this idea! I have a quick question (not sure if you read comments!) - I want to use TikTok to grow my podcast audience. We have a TON of content that I could pull from (8 years of podcasting!). I understand the best strategy is to make the TikTok more stand alone information but do you think there's any point in the video where I could/should say "find out more in Episode XXX of the Sorta Awesome podcast!" THANK YOU so much for your instructional videos. I have learned so much from you in the past few years!
I am definitely looking to use TikTok and YT more this year. This video is rather timely for me. My primary content focus will be on financial literacy but I would like to also post lifestyle content. I’ve seen the recommendation to only have one topic focus and that’s the main thing that’s kept me from taking either platform seriously
I’ve been making TikToks for a while now and this is def the mentality that made me pop off. I’m an artist but try to make more useful & interesting process videos, art instagram critiques, and peeks into my artist journey. I think people who don’t really use TikTok but are trying to make content are most commonly missing the mark. Spend some time in the app and learn the culture and you’ll find where you can fit into the scene! Just like UA-cam ;) loved this vid and all of your stuff!
I feel like it’s SO much harder to gain followers on TikTok now than a year or more ago. It seems a little harder to go viral or get views, but it feels like people don’t follow as quickly now. I almost feel like the fyp does creators a disservice because viewers don’t follow if they know the videos will pop up anyway.
I’ve had videos at 1, 2,3 million and only 2k followers 😅 just had another 1.5mil TT yesterday and it gave me my biggest growth of followers-- but only 200 🥴 I feel like it should be a lot more!
People want the follows but they don't want to follow others. Like I noticed people may have 13k followers and they only following a 200 people... Everyone thinks they are celebrities there 🤣🤣😭
So helpful! Thank you Katie! I’m new to TikTok- posted my first video yesterday. I post about how to improve energy levels so you can have more motivation and better productivity but I’ve been terrible about using social media until now. I’m from the generation who grew up without internet so social media is a bit of an energy drain for me. Hoping to use your tips to make TikTok a fun thing to engage with 😃
Thanks for sharing. I have a love hate relationship with that platform. I’ve just deleted my old account and started again. I’m noticing the quality of content on there is definitely improving.
Thank you! I’ve seen people say we should edit our videos IN tiktok rather than use outside editing tools. Have you noticed a difference with this? Apparently tiktok will recognize more edits/clips versus one video uploaded and edited from elsewhere
Love it thank you! Yes, Im concentrating on growing my tiktok this year (slow living, minimalism, travel, how Im making money online) and starting a youtube channel too!
I will definitely have to try this, because I'm also stuck around 14k! I've also noticed an increase in more meaningful/thoughtful tiktoks, so I think this strategy is worth a shot :)
I noticed this too on TikTok when one of my videos went viral because i added the extra effort! That was actually what inspired me to create on youtube. I make sustainability videos in Spanish and have 38k followers but currently struggle to convert that audience into ig or UA-cam following
I’m so glad you made this video. I’ve been trying to get traction there for four years and just can’t. Just like you said they trends and dancing or one liners just isn’t me and I have to be true to myself. I hope I may be able to turn it around with some of this advice. Thank you ☺️
Thanks for the guidance! I just started posting more frequently to Tiktok myself & interestingly, your strategy confirmed what I've found to be true in my videos as well! Seems viewers enjoy educational content/tutorials over relatable content in my niche of gut health.
Love your advice so much! I'm in the process of doing the reverse! I created Tik Tok videos, but I want to grow my UA-cam channel. Your advice and incite has been so helpful!!! 😄
Interesting point about adding the text overlays and captions on a video editing software. Is tiktok able to pick up text for its SEO that isn't typed in platform?
Thank you for these tips! I've been ramping up my focus on TikTok the last 6 months or so. I'm an indie author so I'm talking about my books, the genre I write in (fantasy), and giving writing tips and such.
Years of not putting much effort into it because whenever I do I can't get over 200 views. My likes to views ratios (or comments/shares/etc) is pretty good but it's like everything is locked at 200 exactly with tiktok. The only video that got more was when a friend with 42k followers commented (too bad they don't use tt anymore). But really trying this year to put more effort into video content.
This was super helpful and you are so right! The comments and questions on TT inspire content for days!! I wonder if the same strategy can work on shorts ?
I feel like I’ve had this strategy but maybe I gotta change things up. I make lifestyle, fashion, and self love/wellness content on tik tok and I feel like my growth as been like a slow incline since last year. Don’t know what else I can do to help change it, I feel like I’ve changed everything that I can in my control
I am following you on yt quite some time, but you just popped in my TikTok as well couple of week ago😂 So it is really working haha! I started to follow you in TikTok as well btw. Really like your video about aesthetic thumbnail creation. Always have difficulties with that. Maybe you could make a yt video to share some more of your tips! 😉😇
I have been loving your vids and have learned so much - thank you!!! 🙌 Do you have any suggestions for captions, keywords, tags and hashtag use to increase discoverability?
Lol I'm just trying to make to 100 followers but you're right tho. I've been kinda looking at as a mini UA-cam just super condensed. It's definitely a skill to create short interesting videos
so should we be editing the clips on the laptop, then once the video is complete send it to the phone and add the voice over or music in the TikTok app?
thanks for sharing!! I have a question. If you have an account with almost 90K followers but you haven't posted since May 2022 and you want to start posting again, whould you use the same account or wuld you start all over again? I really don't know what to do
@katiesteckly this is so helpful! Question tho - how would this be different than creating a YT Short or Reel? I mean I’m not editing on my computer for those, but I do like to semi script them. Would you recommend B roll for shorts or Reels or they are just different than TikTok? Thank you!
Love this strategy! I use premiere pro to edit however when I upload my videos from my phone, the colour is skewed. I colour correct it but it’s just not the same. Any tips on recovering true colour from phone videos on premiere pro? Thank you!
ooh good question - do you film with an iphone! because premiere pro and iphone footage does not like to play nice together unfortunately (though there are hacks and work arounds!)
Try using Capcut. Capcut is what I recently switched to it's user-friendly and I can edit right on my phone. I think it's for beginners tho, so I am not sure where you're at in your journey.

Good stuff here Katie. I think being on YT has trained us to be better at TT. I will implement some of this for sure. Thank you!
Thank you! I’ve seen people say we should edit our videos IN tiktok rather than use outside editing tools. Have you noticed a difference with this? Apparently tiktok will recognize more edits/clips versus one video uploaded and edited from elsewhere
The video I needed! My 2022 growth also really stagnated so fingers crossed this works for all of us :)
I make content about eco living if you wanna connect over there :)
I am sturggling to break past 150! IT has been so frustrating!
Love it thank you! Yes, Im concentrating on growing my tiktok this year (slow living, minimalism, travel, how Im making money online) and starting a youtube channel too!
Excited to watch this, I always learn so much from your videos. 🥰🙌🏼
I was gonna go through my videos and cut them down into tiktok clips but now I'm going this route, thank you!
Hi! I was thinking on doing this too. How is your tiktok account going now?
@@Ani.Malprint i dot
have a whole lot of data, but what i do have has shown that the remade videos perform better than the clips from youtube

Ohhhhhhhh after ALL those words this is a sales pitch for DASH HUDSON…OH SO SNEAKY!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This TikTok video was how I found you!
everything always goes back to the basics lol
I noticed that on Sat-Sun and Wed, advertising does not give the expected results. Is it better to turn it off these days?
Hey Katie, any learnings on TikTok content vs. UA-cam shorts content? I've recently had a video get over 1M views on TikTok and only 500 on UA-cam 👀😂
How do you make *the time* to make content for Instagram AND UA-cam AND TikTok? That's what I wanna know 😂
Katie, off-topic question, are you somewhere in Western Europe? Your environment reminds me of a German apartment :)
