Running 3 Telescopes in One Night... A Triple Imaging Extravaganza!

  • For the first time I decided to run 3 telescopes at once over the course of a evening in pursuit of 3 separate images. In this video, I give a brief description of the 3 imaging telescopes, mounts and equipment used to capture the objects presented. Everything went well and I acquired images of The California Nebula (RedCat51, ASI 294MC Pro), The Triangulum Galaxy (RASA 8, ASI 183MC Pro), and I captured the orbital motion of asteroid (1) Ceres over 4.17 hours (C6-N, ASI 183MM Pro).

    Great job cody!. Hey, Have you try the Celestron Ha-Hb-olll Imaging filter for the Rasa 8? (Model #93619)

    Hi Cody...great job. BTW...temperature sensor on my ASI183 went out and ZWO has a self-help procedure that worked. I re-seated the ribbon connector and that solved the issue.

    Wow, that's full on. Impressive! How long did it take you to set up?

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому +1

      It took me about 45 minutes to get it all set-up and about the same to get everything polar aligned, slewed, and guiding! Not too shabby.

    Hi Cody, very good triple shooting! I have ohne question regarding Celestron Mounts and the ASIAIR, i had some trouble with my CGX and ASIAIR, especially Alignement procedure and polar alignment. Is this now working welk? Greetings Herbert

    I appreciate your video on Aperture. Is it truly better than F-ratio? Everybody raves about being "Fast". I think I am happy with my 8"SCT without the hyperstar... I have the ZWO 385 with 6/6.3 reducer

    Cody, what are you using to mount your guidescope rings to the top rail on your rasa? I have a 70mm guide on my edge hd 8 and would like to see it on something more stable that the 2 thumbscrew bracket it's on now. Thx!

    I have been watching your videos for several years and finally got around to subscribing today. I am a big fan of Celestron products as well. I have the RASA 8 on a CGX mount. The only issue I have are strange halos with the OIII Baader f/2 filter, but I'm not totally convinced it's uniquely the filter's fault. Do you know where I can purchase the 3D holder for the camera cables at the front of the RASA? Thank you and good job getting 3 rigs to work at the same time!

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому

      No worries, I am glad you enjoy the videos. I doubt the RASA is at fault - I image using the AstroHutech IDAS NBZ and NBZ UHS and get no halo's. Those filters rock at f/2, which is demanding on filters! For my cable router I use this one: bit.ly/32SrEsQ - just pick the size based on your camera and OTA. I hope this helps - clear skies!

    Cody…where did you get the mounting bracket that is holding your guide scope on the RASA OTA? I need a bracket like that for my C11 to move my guide scope to the top of the OTA. Ty and great job

    Hey Cody, I’m assuming that you keep your camera on the Rasa, how do you store it to prevent dust, etc.?

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому +1

      I keep a garbage bag over the top. I try and prevent dust but I’m not overly concerned with it as flats take care of it.

    Do you have a dedicated dew heater controller for the RARA rig or do you just power the dew straps directly from the ASIAir Pro?

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому +1

      Dedicated- I use the Orion Dew Zapper Pro.

      I used USB in all 3 cases and then used 1 iPad and just swapped between the 3. Got one started and moved onto the next.

    One day I hope to be able to do this. I have the scope now I am saving for the imaging gear. Scope is CPC 800 Deluxe Edge HD. Visually it is stunning on the planets.

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому

      Go for it! Yeah, those SCT's rock with the planetary views!

    • @martynh5410
      @martynh5410 2 роки тому

      You don’t have to spend much on imaging gear to get started with planets. I used a low cost (around $150) camera, the Sv305 to capture nice images of Jupiter, Saturn and Mars last year.

    No problem running 3 ASIair pro/plus using one Ipad or smartphone ??? Or, how do you communicate or watch 3 separate ASIair at once ?

    • @AstroBlender

      Yep, one device I just switched between them periodically.

    Wow! You are ambitious (and it paid off). Great stuff Cody. I noticed that you did your flats during the day using your embroidery hoop (thanks, I made one for myself after watching your previous video). How do you determine a proper exposure for your cooled cameras for your flats? Clear skies ! Dr B from Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦.

    • @AstroBlender
      @AstroBlender  2 роки тому

      Thanks! Yeah, I've been using the embroidery loop flats ever since I made them and they work great! The ZWO ASI Air will automatically calculate the flat exposure so you don't have to worry about it - this also works great. For flats, you typically want about half the wells of your sensor filled. For my 294MC Pro, I aim for about 30,000 of 65,000 for a properly exposed flat. I haven't had to do this in awhile though as the ASI Air takes care of the exposure for me. :)
