Thank you for doing these videos. I watched them before my transplant and it helped me prepare myself for this process. My doctor didn’t mention wearing the button up shirts or the timed spacing of drops. So I followed your process and had excellent results. I am very grateful I found you on you tube. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I’m getting a transplant in a week or so. Really nervous thank you for doing this. Everyone is a dr saying what it is not a patient
Thank you for such detailed description, best on youtube!
Thank you so much for allowing people to follow your story. It might be a jouney i find myself on soon. I am a photographer so i need my sight to be sharp and i am in honesty scared. I can't cope with contacts but i am trying with them and this mignt be the route I have to take. I wish you all the best and thank you again for sharing
thank you very much, I'm so glad I can be of some help! :) As an artist myself I understand how scary having KC can be. Personally since my transplant my artwork has increasingly improved. I wish you the best of luck with your contacts and whatever steps you may choose to take in the future :)
Thanks so much. Today is the day of my transplant and I wanted to see what it was like.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I am going in on Monday 10/23 to have my Corneal Transplant done on my left eye and I'm super nervous.
Hey how did it go ?
Thank you very much Kelly, I'm about to go to the same as you (cross linking on the right and corneal transplant on the left)
I had cross linking on my right but scared for the transplant on the right
I'm going to need one soon my cornea is still thinning
thanks for video I'm from.UK.i gt same.condition I got diagnosed.about 1 year and I just had a cross link surgery on my left eye and 3 month. transplant is what I'm. worry about most if I have to have it done and this video.is help me understand what it may be like. thank.u and your so brave
Thanks for this kelly I'm getting my surgery next month
+Ashleigh Watson I'm glad it can be of some help! I hope all goes well for you in the coming month :)
Howz your vision
Did they go over pricing and insurance before the operation? Do you meet with a consultant or someone first?
Hiii!!! wow quite big patch!!!! How you feel these days with patch and glasses? What s the Rx in your glasses? How you feel these days managing with glasses and eyepatch?
Im not sure about the prescription in my glasses. However, as far as the patch goes I only wore it during the daytime for the first few days following the transplant, other than that it was only while I was sleeping. Overall the patch didn't present much of an issue for me.
my transplant is due to injury wonder if it goes the same?
Will you have vision before treatment
How many floaters do you have... do they not bother you ?
Hi Kelly
Thank u for posting about keratoconus I been diagnosed for 12 years now. In both eye. Been doing the piggyback for 2 years but before that was using the gpr straight never bothered me. And today I went to my doc and he told me that I have cornea ulcer and it's so deep and scratched up. may lead to the transplants so I been looking at your videos . Which is really helpful and again thank u. Any advice and easy this stress would be helpful
+sweetdreamstoall Thank you :) I'm glad the videos have been of some help. Before having the transplant I only wore GPR (ones that were meant to dome over the cornea) and actually had never heard of piggyback lenses. thank you for introducing me to something new! The best advice I can give as far as easing the stress is to try and understand how beneficial the surgery is (and how quickly you may notice an improvement in your vision). Also, know that the details of the surgery seem much more frightening than the surgery actually is. However, I know that what stresses others out about this process differs than mine. If there is anything in particular that is causing you stress that I can perhaps answer questions about or elaborate on please don't hesitate to ask.
I have to get both my eyes done and I'n terrified
Sirafien me too, done

Did you have PK or DALK?
Hi @KellyMcEwen
How are you doing after the surgery 3 years down the line? Which MD doctor operated on you and which institute or State? I'll appreciate any help and advice.
hello, I will upload a video on my progress asap. everything seems to be going well generally speaking. I went to Dr. Price at Price Vision Group in Indianapolis, IN
how old r u
Friends I have keratoconus for more than 1 year C3R done in my both eyes .. I have only one doubt whether the cornea transplant give the normal vision anyone know about that kindly explain me I am afraid a lot of my life
They Have Done Laser treatment only.. Now my Doctors told me that Transplant not Needed Now.. after Progressive only they will do. U done Transplant or not ?
So you’re awake when they do this
Did u have to look up for 24 housers
I'm Monish from India. I have keratoconus in my both eyes Nd done C3 r to both my eyes. I'm wearing rgp lenses now in both eye , it gives me a good vision but sometime irritates a lot. So I'm looking to piggyback after watching videos UA-cam. any advise about piggyback guys?
I personally haven't had any experience with piggyback lenses, so I will leave the other members of this community to answer about them specifically. However, have you asked your doctor if hybrid lenses would be an option for you? I found them to be pretty comfortable, but had to move to hard contact lenses due to the advanced stage of my KC.
Hi, best way to go is with Soft Lenses and Hard Lenses together, thats what I m doing now, I have two lenses in one eye
I have to go to the doctor an talk my implant. I am wondering if I have to be awake
+Tiki Dreams I wasn't given any other option than being awake. Though I'm not sure if it is never an option. What i've read online patients are generally awake during the procedure. However, you are generally given medicine to help you relax. If you are very concerned with being awake during the procedure I suggest talking to your doctor about it. he/she has the most knowledge about your case and the procedure itself. Maybe they know of some other options to help with your experience. I was also nervous about being awake but I didn't experience much discomfort during my surgery. I hope this can be of some help!
Thank you :) another question I am a artist to. And I am very concern is their any way their a type of glasses that can zoom in a little just so I can see when I do my painting
+Tiki Dreams That's a good question! I had never thought of that before. I have thought of using a magnifying light for my small projects. There are certainly magnifying glasses which are typically used by jewelers. However, the magnification may be too high for what you are looking for. It's always worth checking out though! It's good to hear from another artist with this condition, it certainly has led me to approach the creative process differently.
+Kelly McEwen Thank you and yes I understand about the jewelry glasses. I am praying that they will have something to used I mean it is 2016 right. lol, and yeah its always a freshing surprise to have someone with the same conditions and a amazing talent as well. someone you can relate to ^^
I went today to see the dr he said because I have MS I should be hospitalize for three days next week M T and W surgery will be on W. they just want to make sure I'd be ok and that I'd wake up if they set me into sleep. ._. they say I wouldnt be able to stay awake during the surgery still if I was up during the surgery because I have nerves problems
oh well glad they booked an appointment finally been waiting 2 yrs with a scar in my eye for god sake lol.
i'm glad you're able to get an appointment. it's also a good thing that they're looking out for your safety for during the procedure, despite the hassle it is causing you in the meantime.
I know you are right. I'm bored of this hassle I admit had MS since 17 cornea since 20 and now I'm 28. its nearly every 2 weeks I go to the hospital lol. but oh well thanks for making me feel better :p I'm typing as a spoilt child.
hope ur both eyes are perfectly well from now on. ;)
many thanks seriously you reviews helped a lot so glad I got ready with black sunglasses lol they of course didnt offer that but yh its going on well jthey finished the job carefully and professionally. but lil irritation in and around the eye now but i so can take it way better than the lens

my eye doctor told me that they do. but I am not to sure of the whole thing. let me know how it go's,
@kelly thank you.
James Adams I wish I would of had both of my eyes done 12 years ago when I was first diagnosed. I wasted so much time and money with contact lens and they never helped. Now I can no longer tolerate them.
