Pretty cool! Tip: when you initially start removing the skin you can mix up some dish soap and water and either spray some on the inside of the skin or submerge it. Makes removing the skin way easier. I would also use a dremel tool to remove the lip. 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Do you ever throw the 175? I'm just getting in the swimbait game this season and I just bought a 175. I know the glide on the 250 will have a wider glide but other than that how much do they differ?
The glide on the 175 differs because it tends to nose up more instead of staying flat on the gldie like the 250,, you can put a thicker/ bigger hook in the front to help flatten it out more
I threw the 175 my first year of fishing swimbaits but never really felt like I was getting the most I could because of the size. The bait gets bit well overall and is still a great bait to grab!
I did everything in this video but there was no back weight and it still falls super fast on the back... maybe there is a weight in the actual plastic??? Idk
Awesome video, very helpful! However I can't nab the tail weight.. Am I not trying hard enough or did they change how the tail is weighted in the 2020 Silent Killer? My test runs are close to my actual Slide Swimmer, so overall I'm happy with the results, but thought I'd ask in case removing the tail weight makes a better presentation and I'm so close I should just try harder.. Please let me know!
The tail weight is actually inside the ABS body now, so no way to remove it. You’ll have to add a bit more weight to the front cavity in order to balance it out and not make it tail-heavy, so you’re gonna end up with a slightly overweight SS250 compared to a non converted one.
Can leave the skin on and just use a razor blade and slice over the empty weight cavity and shove the tungsten putty in there then glue the slit shut. Also can leave the weight in the tail and just add more weight up front for an even sink
Somethinsfishyyy Vids You could definitely do all of that but definitely not necessary to cut into the bait for such a thing. Adding more weight will just make the bait sink faster so I take the tail weight out so the bait sinks slower or floats
Lucas Scott Ummm, I can see if I can get that information. I was never really into the small details of weight from how many grams of weight I put in or how much it weighed in the final end haha. Just cared if the bait turned out how I wanted it
Haha thanks for the offer but I don’t tune any baits for just anybody due to the fact that I don’t want to be responsible if something goes wrong. Ask Butch Brown though, he might be down to do it
Do you know if the silent killer’s weight socket is the same size as the slide swimmer? I wanted to just add a deps 250 manufactured weight inside the silent killer if it fits. Please!
brady saechao It’s the same size on the OG ones yes. In the past for people, I have just used old weights from baits and put them in the silent killers
crazybassfisher thanks for the reply and info!! Can you use any SK and make them SS or they have to be OGs? I have a SK and the tail doesn’t have a weight it seems
Can you do this on tbe new plastic abs deps 250s and 175s
great video
the whole time you were using the hammer and chisel i was scream DREMEL TOOL lol
Brian A dremel would definitely be a perfect tool, I just don’t own one hahaha.
How can you get the weight out of the new Silent Killer??
I don’t think you can, it’s inside the ABS body
🎣🎣🎣
The silent killer 175 sucks and I hope nobody ever fishes them in California
seth Martinez what color shouldn’t they use
6:26 a valuable tool to get it out without damaging the bait is a dremel. Dremel and a few versatile bits will allow you to grind it out
Michael Johnston A dremel is definitely the proper tool to use, I’ve just never bought one to use myself
Disclaimer for people with the new silent killer. The weight is inside the tail and not the skin.
Yeah and it's still possible to convert them but you have to be comfortable drilling holes in your bait. Much more involved process
Yeah, the new ones definitely make everything harder to tune yourself for some weird reason
Just broke the bib off my new silent killer 😰

galva777tx the soapy water is definitely another good way to get the skin off for sure! I might need to invest in a dremel one day!
@@crazybassfisher Cool you can pick up a cheap one at Harbor Freight.

the 175 is great because of its weight and size but it has a smaller glide because of its weight

Yes, it’s inside the abs body now, you’ll have to add more weight to the front to even out the sink
what is the proper way to fish the Deps 250 Silent Killer?
Hola desde españa.es necesario poner plomo para modificar en acción slow sinking?
Valdría los plomos del deps 175 ss?

Use a dremel and grind the lip clean,
Super looking sweet baits lol
Acetone will remove all superglue Think id spend the extra $ instead good to know though Thank for the video Cheers!! :))
gary m I was thinking acetone would help remove the lip but unfortunately don’t own any! Thanks for watching Gary!

Chad West Thanks for watching Chad! That jacket is super sweet!
Just got a 175 the other day and broke off on the third cast🙃🙃🙃 but dope vid as always, oh and do you keep a notebook???
Caleb Smith Noooooooooo! Damn dude! I’m sorry to hear about that! I keep a log in my notes on my phone and log each day I go fishing
I like the video man I was wondering what the final weight of the finished 250 was
Lucas Scott Ummm, I can see if I can get that information. I was never really into the small details of weight from how many grams of weight I put in or how much it weighed in the final end haha. Just cared if the bait turned out how I wanted it
DOPE
Good vid , was just about to ask KZ how to do this the video helps a lot 👊🏼👊🏼🔥
Arizona Joe fishing Thanks for watching dude! If you need help or anything just let me know!
Sick ass vid G 🤘🏼. I used to tune my 250s alot still do from time to time. Sick ass bait your homie has now.🔥
Thomas LaRochelle That’s awesome! Tuning 250’s can lowkey be kind of fun! Thanks for watching dude!
@@crazybassfisher no prob dude was fun talking to you about fishing at the swimbait invasion G 🤘🏼
didn't you already make this video?
TarponTango Inmade a video talking about how I tune the hinges but not actually converting an sk to an ss
Can you tune the joint on the new ones? Why or why not? Thanks
Kevin Zap You can’t tune the joint on the new ones but they already come tuned to how I like to fish the baits
crazybassfisher ok thank you!
Save more than that going low as 50-70 when I looked the other day
Davidn93 Oh damn, yeah, you are definitely saving a good amount of money just converting!
Finally got one of course price is higher now but 81 bucks ain’t bad!
If I buy one can I have it sent out to you then you do it cause I don’t trust myself I’ll PayPal you 20 lol
20 only man you greedy man pay this man if he works for you wtf is 20 lol
True but since im a kid without any job so I would be broke after getting another 250 lol
Haha thanks for the offer but I don’t tune any baits for just anybody due to the fact that I don’t want to be responsible if something goes wrong. Ask Butch Brown though, he might be down to do it
Top water wake bait
Roland Mcclendon If you fished it super slow than yeah but surprisingly, the bait likes to dive with ease
