As a child I received an anime magazine as a gift and it had a dvd with the first 4 episodes of this show, I always wanted to know what happened so bad and I remember years later it was the very first dvd box set I ever ordered from amazon and I watched the whole thing in 2 days 😂
Rewatching Tokyo Underground right now after 10 years when I originally watched it… I did not appreciate this ending the first time, it’s very nice and high quality. Nostalgia and simpler times with this anime

Kakusei Toshi (Awakening City) is Akino Arai at her best. I'm fairly sure the single, which also has a version with no vocal, is out of print. The full version of the song is on her 2005 album Sora no Uta, which is still available as of 2012.
@Lunatek909 You're right, too bad they stopped this anime. But this song is just too powerful, and also very soothing, it really calms you down. Its my fav. song ever.
@10bitnadroj Yeah, I tried looking for the ending to the manga so I can get more answers but I could only find it in raws and pictures only portray so much without the text. I'm gonna learn japanese eventually but first I need to get take classes that will actually pay the bills.
*spoillers* I think they should have added another season where it would start with the green light destroying the big falling peice, and then everyone struggleing to overturn the corrupt resistance and remnents of the company as they all work to get everyone to the surface

@kx3j Yeah i seem to notice that allot of Anime ending has wack endings I mean look at soul eater, ending is lame not the end episode, just the ending. And Yumekui merry was mostly the same.

小さい時に最終回だけ録画ミスで見逃してすごく泣いて大人になってふと思い出して最初から最終回まで駆け抜けました。当時の夕方の家の風景、生活の風景が浮かびます。当時から心に何か引っかかる曲でしたがあんまりよくわかってませんでした。今聴くとあの時から大好きだったんだなって感じます。長々と失礼しました。
とてもよく分かります。
懐かしいと思う曲はいくつかありますが、この曲ほどノスタルジックな気分に浸れる、心地よくて少し切ないような、少年時代の感覚が呼び起こされる曲ってあまりないような気がします。

以前勤めていた会社がかなり辛く、辞表を叩きつけた直後、頭を下げてもう一回頑張ると、決意した。辞表を撤回してもらってた時に丁度聴いたエンディングでした。アニメも好きでした。思い入れがあります。あの時お世話になった方々の顔もこのアニメを思うと思い出します。
もう東京アンダーグラウンドから13年なんだ？実際はもうちょい前かな？とにかく懐かしい。新居昭乃の儚気で澄んだ声はやはりよい。
大学の図書館でレポートやって、夕暮れの中家へ帰りながら聴いてた
