- Hello my friends, I'm Nathan, Seoul Walker 🤓🚶🏻🐈
How are you doing? The rainy season will finally start tomorrow in Seoul. I'm going to shoot a walking videos in the rain from tomorrow. Please give me strength!
Let's walk together in Gamcheon Culture Village where I stayed in Busan for 3 days last week.
Gamcheon Culture Village is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Korea for foreign visitors. However it is very rare for people to visit here these days due to the Covid-19. Please understand that there was a lot of wind noise in the video because it was very windy that night. Actually it was a very complicated and narrow roads of neighborhood, so it was not easy to walk. If you visit here for the first time, you might get lost. Always watch your back!
Question: How many cats have I met here?
Filmed: June 28, 2021, 7:35pm (pre-recorded)
Weather: Sunny 🌤
Temperature: 22℃ / 71℉ 🌡

Gamcheon Culture Village (Korean: 감천문화마을; Hanja: 甘川文化마을) is a town within Gamcheon-dong, Saha District, Busan, South Korea. The area is known for its layered streets, twisted labyrinth-like alleys, and brightly painted houses, which have been restored and enhanced in recent years to attract tourism. Built on a steep mountain-side slope, the village has been nicknamed "Korea's Santorini," as well as the "Machu Picchu of Busan".
Gamcheon Village was built during the 1920's and 30's when the Busan city administration decided to relocate its poor Korean population into an area secluded from the port, yet close enough to provide labor. In the midst of post-war recovery in 1955, around 800 families moved to the village, contributing to the growth of an ascetic religious community known as Taegeukdo. A long-time resident noted the village's development throughout the decades: "Gamcheon was only one district in 1950, now it’s nine. In the ’70s there were only houses made of wood. In the late ’80s and early ’90s, families started to get bigger so they built two-level houses." Nonetheless, the village faced persisting poverty and poor living conditions.
In 2009, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism carried out a public art-themed renovation effort to convert the village to a cultural hub. It called for art students, professional artists, and residents to maintain, repair, and "decorate" the village with art. The renovation efforts reached their peak with the success of the “Empty House Residency Preservation Project.” With improvements to infrastructure, fresh paint and other home improvements, the establishment of spaces for retail and museums, and the addition of several dozens of art installations, the village has been reborn as Busan's most colorful and artistic spot. Some examples of the colorful art installations include bird sculptures, Murakami-like playful installations, scenes from the Little Prince, and painted schools of fish that guide bearings through the alleyways.

The last time I was there it was really crowded. This is unbelievable. It looks so relaxing just to watch.
I sometimes play your videos in the background while I work and it's always such a wonderful experience to hear noise from some other part of the world in my studio. Thanks so much! : )
Me too!
i LOVE IT when u go thru all these tiny little obscure places!! and even thiese places are clean and decorated with colorful pics especially of the cats!! i feel like i'm walking right with u!
A maze of alleys that you will want to walk through yourself. Nice!
This video brought back a lot of good memories. I first visited this place with my family in 2017. Later, just before Covid19 hit, I revisited this place again with my parents, right before borders were closed and travelling was restricted. I had great time here with my parents. Thank you for the wonderful video, my friend
Fascinating. A different perspective in the labyrinth of alleys. One day …🇦🇺🦘
In God will someday Im going to travel n explore the beauty of Korea❤️❤️❤️🙂
I luv this kind of vid so relaxing ❤️
Hwaiting TT
Yes this is so soothing! I'd love to go to Korea, but I'm too chicken to fly the distance. I'll root for you whenever you go. 😊👍
Evening light is the most magical. Dreamscape feeling established. A stunning video.
You have very informative and beautiful videos, thank you very much, happiness to you 👍
That is a very colourful , clean looking place. I love the art work.
I went here but didn't know that the night was so beautiful! I want to visit again🤤🤤🤤👍
Really iam surprised 😊 ..i never think u will walk throught this🤫😋😁....khamsamnidaaa
Wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed this. I'd love to see the same area in the daytime when the shops are open.
So beautiful ❤️
Thanks for taking time to do this walk. Very interesting., ❤️👍❤️🌈
The wind and natural noises make your videos special. I've been to Gamcheon and I can "feel" the night air as I listen to the wind blowing and gusting in your video; it really puts me there with you. And thank you for filming this in the evening. It healing to watch. In all of your videos, I very much enjoy your very slow and deliberate camera work. It takes lots of patience to pan the camera slowly for some of your shots, and you do it well. Even as you walk around and look around, I feel that I'm the one walking around and that is hard to replicate. Keep up the great work! We appreciate you! Hope to visit Busan again in the near future!
So relaxing!!! Quality is superb 🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️
I never realised that these Busan little alleys were like this. It was very charming, colourful and so quiet. Is there any significant meaning with all the images of cats? The art on the walls was so unusual.
Loved the painting of Jimin and Jungkook - a lovely touch, for their home town.
It all looked so pretty as the evening got darker, all the twinkling lights and the mountains in the background - kind of fantasy.
Thank you Nathan - I am learning new things about SK every video I watch 🇬🇧😊
It was once a poor village of refugees from the korean war, making living by fishing..hence a lot of stray cats I think that's why
@@jcucumbera8066 Thank you 🐈
It's look like a cartoon,s world beautiful 💓 wooww next time I will be there insha'Allah I love korea n Korean culture n there dress ❤️

I recall visiting this beautiful village in 2019. I can’t wait to go back to Busan and explore more areas. Thank you Nathan, I love your vids 💜💜💜. Please continue to stay strong and healthy.
The kids must LOVE playing hide and seek there.
Fabulous video as always! I have only visited during the day time with a vibrant bustling feeling. I do love this moody atmosphere though. 👌
Beautiful and colorful Busan 💗 in every step a warm view .

Thank you so machh Nathan it's amazing place ❤❤
Korea is so clean!
It's very butifull place......👌👌👌
The view from the top is amazing, more so at night! Really need lots of stamina to climb those stairs and steep roads!
i would love to see the video of u walking in the rain. i love the rain sounds. but dont get sick! be careful! ur caption says walking in a dark alley would be hard to do around here at night safely. sad but true. that's what i like about ur country....seems very safe compared to usa
Estas calles tienen una "vibra" muy latina.
Buen video.
another beautiful healing walk i'm looking forward to everyday!!
Amo esse país Core😍💞a lindíssima 😍💞
Bravo Natham mas um trabalho super agradável ✌🌟✨🌟✨✨
Thanks for sharing. As always I love your videos. I also love all the artwork on the walls. It’s so pleasant and cheerful. All I see in my area is graffiti. 🥺 Thanks again for all the walking you do and I can’t wait for my trip to South Korea!
Thank you.🦊
i would be soooo lost by now!! how do u ever find ur way back home??? i'm gonna try to stop commenting now and watch ur amazing video in ur lovely city.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
I'm your big fan ❤️
Great Job!!!! I love your vids!!!!!!
Wonderful virtual tour! Thanks for sharing
Amazing video as always!
how beautiful ❤️
so beautiful
So beautiful 🤩 Well done Nathan ❤️
I am sending a feather 🪶 for your cap. Excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed this walk. I like how the people in the district enhanced it by painting insects, human and animal images on the walls, they even had human size figurines. Even the risers of the steps were decorated. My eyes were busy. Lots of History in that area of Busan, the little area with the well was outstanding. Thank you for your hard work.
It’s finally here! ☺️♥️
Thank you for this kind of vlogs.. i love your content and I really waiting for a new one.. Once, i dream of visiting Korea when i have enough money but it’s not really meant to be for me because i need to prioritize my health and medicines though i am a cancer survivor☺️ and at this point of time and i am already 52 y/o, perhaps it’s just only a dream...that’s why i am grateful to your channel that somehow i’ve been there..kudos to you Sir! God bless and take care always! Stay healthy and keep safe🌿
Your comment was very moving. I wish you well and hope that maybe you can really go there one day - you're still young 🌸
@@anitawhybrow1193 Thank you Madam! Good health and stay safe for you♥️
so quiet ! relaxing
It's beautiful
Can't wait 🤩
I'm waiting 🚶♀️❤
Very nice walk even at night time
Oh! I am amazed the alleys so tiny and people can still set up little businesses between homes. And top of high hills too.
Thanks for walking.
Love from Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩♥️
Beautifull 💜
Gorgeous and quiet. Loved this.
Estos vídeos me traen mucha paz
Been watching a short while.
Just subscribed.
Love your vids.
May I ask what time this vid was recorded, and how come there aren't many people around?
Keep up the good work.
What a great peek into the culture here. Lots of character, very interesting. Love how nice and well kept it is, along with all the unique colors & artwork, awesome views of the town. They seem to also embrace the stray cats here, rather than consider them an annoyance. Things I found curious is that it seems everyone is in bed after dark. No activity, most lights are out (indoors) and everything closed. Do many younger folks live here? Also all the awkward stairs, that must be hard on seniors? Anyway thanks for the video, always nice stuff on this channel.
Sure great points I have also wondered myself for the longest time actually !
Also lack or absence of (random) security cameras like Youu see all over here in North America from neighbourhoods to streets and some alleyways. I have seen absolutely 0 in this video so far they must be safe enough that they don't need them !
So many cats 😻
You are the best 🌹👍
Thank you 💙💙💙💙💙😭
I visited some of those other channels with the same name and their videos are only a few months. Your channel has been over a year. You should have no problem with your copyright. Just remember everybody copies the best product. You have the best videos to me. Thank you for all your hard work. I have the up most respect for any artist. This village is adorable. 😀
Pray for Canada in this heat! Over 500 victims and more are suffering:( this summer is brutal
My thoughts are with you all 🌸
Here we have 36°c
Nice place. The narrow streets, ups and downs, the panoramic views of the place and the cats remind me of the Greek Islands. But, in contrast to that village, Greek Islands are safe.
I've counted eight cats. 😻
So many cats!
Hi! Great videos! I was wondering if you could do a video of the locations where famous kdramas were filmed? (Crashlanding on you, my love from the star, one spring night, something in the rain etc.) 🤗
